Escape From The Mountain [II]

After arriving at the police station and explaining everything, Edric and Nan Faye dragged their tired bodies into the police car, and then the police took them to the doorstep of their home in Federal District 64.

Lindsey, Edric's mother, was extremely anxious at home and kept calling the school, but she couldn't get any news. She was isolated and helpless in the Union and didn't know who to tell. She could only call the police and then prayed and cried at home. 

When she saw Edric being brought back in a distraught state, Linda burst into tears and hugged Edric in her arms.

"Son, you scared me to death. Where have you been for the past two days?" Lindsey asked while crying.

"Mom, I'm sorry for making you worry!" Seeing Lindsey's pitiful look, Edric wiped away the tears from her eyes, forced a smile, and said, "I'm fine, I just got caught up in something."

At home, Edric introduced Nan Faye to Lindsey, and then told her everything that happened in the past two days. 

After listening, Lindsey touched Edric's head lovingly and asked, "Son, do you know who they are?"

"No, mom. I don't know who they are?"

"So, what should we do? How about we hide somewhere else for two days?" She asked in a worried tone.

"The union is so small, where can we hide here?"

"So, what do we do?" 

"Mom, don't worry. The Federal Police have taken over the case now, they will definitely find that those people and bring them to justice!" Edric said, "Mr. Nan Faye here, is a very powerful man. When his power is restored, he can protect us!"

Lindsey glanced at Nan Faye, who smiled and nodded to her. She nodded to him gratefully.

Edric had been in shock for the past few days, and he couldn't eat, drink, or sleep well. Fortunately, there were some snacks in his backpack, otherwise he would have starved to death even if he didn't get killed.

He had given Nan Faye food before, but what shocked him was that Nan Faye said that the Ousai people didn't need to eat or drink water except for taking the medicine from the pharmacist shop, and they completely survived by absorbing the energy.

This made Edric feel even more surprised that there were humans who didn't need to eat or drink water!

Three days later, Edric and Nan Faye's injuries had mostly recovered. Nan Faye stood up, slowly relaxed his body, and then suddenly exerted strength, releasing a bright white light from his body. Edric looked at it and saw four layers in the bright white light, which turned out to be the fourth layer of the first-order earth essence.

Nan Faye’s strength is only the fourth level of bright white first-order earth essence!

Not only did Edric feel incredible, Nan Faye himself was stunned for a long time and couldn't speak. Then, as if relieved, he sighed and said: "It seems that he really suffered fatal damage!"

"Mister, what happened to your energy? Also, how did you come to Earth?" Edric and Nan Faye had been fleeing for their lives these past few days and had no time to ask these fundamental questions.

"Actually, I escaped from Ouse to avoid being hunted down by others!"

"Escape from being hunted down? Mister, have you done anything wrong in Ouse?

"I haven't committed any crime."

"Why are they hunting you down?"

"This is the rule of our Ouse star field. That someone had to kill me. It's our tradition. It is also the reason why Ouse can stand at the forefront of cosmic power and even the Ika Golden Spirit has to acknowledge us." Nan Faye said dejectedly.

"Who is chasing you?" Edric asked anxiously.

Nan Faye smiled bitterly and said, "You wouldn't believe me even if I told you. The man chasing me is called Nan Faye, and he's my son!"

"What? Your son is chasing you? How could you give birth to such a son? What is the problem between you and your son that makes things so awkward?" Edric stood up and shouted in shock.

Nan Faye pulled Edric to sit down and advised: "Don't get apprehensive. In our world, in order to make the offsprings stronger than the predecessors, the son must do everything possible to kill the father after he is born. In the long run, the power of the Ouse people will become more advanced."

"For killing their parents?"

"This is the tradition of Ouse. Otherwise, how could the our people surpass the Ika star field and become the number one star field in the universe!" He paused and continued. "But my power is too strong. Ouse stipulates that a son has three chances to challenge his father. If he succeeds in killing him, he will be appreciated by the temple and be honored for eternity. If he fails, it will be an incomparable humiliation."

"Now I See."

"Although there is no punishment, I believe my son will do something extreme that can affect him. He has challenged me twice, and both ended in failure. Before I left Ouse, I knew that he was planning a third challenge. I was afraid that he would fail again, so in order to avoid him, I traveled a long distance and came to Aifa alone. But halfway, I was pulled by a strange planet which was emitting a white light, and I lost most of my internal power. So, if he comes now, it would be very easy for him to kill me!"

When Edric heard about this tradition, he was so surprised that he couldn't come back to his senses for a long time. He couldn't accept it at all. Why would such an immoral tradition exist in a human society? He couldn't figure it out no matter how hard he tried.

Garland bowed his head and said to Dwayne: "Director, I'm sorry, we couldn't kill the boy. He's still alive"

"Okay, go and take a rest for the next two days!" Dwayne said, "The federal police are already paying attention to this matter. Don't worry about Edric. I'll tell Sullivan to give up on killing that boy. We'll continue to stay here and monitor Walter at the 'Mecha Editing Center'!"

Nan Faye just stayed in Edric's home. He was worried for the first two days that someone would come to hunt him down, but after a few days, everything was calm. He contacted the police to inquire, but they couldn't find any clues about that man. 

Edric cursed them for being despicable. These people were worthless when it came to tracking a young boy, but they were worth double when it came to running away.

Since there was no news, it meant they were hiding, and Area 64 was safe for the time being. This was the southeastern periphery of the Union. If something happens, the worst that can happen was to escape from the Union to the south. Although the sour air outside was heavy, it is better than being killed.

Time flew by, more than ten days have passed, and nothing happened at home, as if nothing had ever happened. 

After Edric's injury healed, he began to practice with weights. Nan Faye told him that bone dissolution should be done slowly, according to the level of strength in his body, and he should not be too ambitious but proceed step by step.

That night, the three of them gathered together happily to chat, but since Nan Faye and Lindsey did not speak the same language, they had to speak through Edric's translation. 

He thought that when school started, he would go find Teacher Alice and Linda and ask them to think of a way for people to learn English directly, so that Nan Faye and Lindsey could talk to each other and relieve their boredom when he was not around.

Edric and Lindsey had just finished dinner. She was clearing the table. Nan Faye and Edric were leaning on the sofa and chatting. It was already eight o'clock in the evening. At this moment, there was a rapid knock on the door.

Edric thought they were neighbors, so when he went to open the door, he found two men in black wearing suits, round hats, and big sunglasses standing at the door.
