Chapter 1
"Boom!"
The first gunshot cracked through the air just after noon.
For a split second, Dawn City froze.
Then came another shot. And another.
Within minutes, the sound multiplied. Sirens wailed in confused chorus and car alarms screamed. Somewhere, something exploded, sending a tremor through the pavement. Black smoke twisted upward into the pale afternoon sky, turning it the color of bruised metal.
People ran.
No one knew where the attackers were.
They were everywhere—and nowhere.
Inside the National Administrative Complex, chaos reigned as well. Officials barked orders into radios that spat only static. Screens flickered with broken surveillance feeds. Phones rang continuously, unanswered.
In a corner office on the top floor, President Adrian Vale stood rigidly by the wide window overlooking the city. His usually composed face was pale, his jaw tight. He had governed Dawn City for eight years, and never had it looked so helpless.
Behind him, a young aide held out a tablet, hands trembling. “Sir… the casualty numbers are rising.”
Vale didn’t turn. “How many?”
“Initial reports suggest over two hundred injured… confirmed deaths are climbing. We’ve lost contact with three districts entirely.”
Vale closed his eyes for a moment.
He had feared this day.
For more than a decade, enemies—faceless, coordinated, relentless—had struck at Dawn City. They came without warning, attacked vital infrastructure, vanished before security forces could respond. No one had ever captured their leaders. No one had ever stopped them completely. Each time, the city rebuilt. Each time, officials promised reforms. Each time, nothing truly changed.
But this—this was different.
This was organized, deliberate, and fierce!
Vale turned abruptly and strode toward his desk. “Get me Director Gabriel Thorne,” he ordered.
“Sir… National Security is already engaged.” The aide hesitated.
“Get him!” Vale snapped.
Within seconds, the secure line rang. Vale grabbed it before the second ring.
“Gabriel! Tell me what is happening.” Vale growled.
"S...Sir... Multiple coordinated assaults across five major sectors. Armed groups moving fast. We’ve deployed all available response units, but they’re overwhelmed.”
Vale’s grip tightened on the receiver. “Overwhelmed? This is the third time in four years they’ve breached our defenses like this. I was assured National Security had strengthened our response capabilities.”
“We have. But they’re adapting faster than we are,” Thorne replied, though the confidence in his voice wavered.
Vale turned back toward the window. Smoke now swallowed half the skyline.
“Two hundred confirmed dead,” Vale said. “Possibly more by the hour. Hospitals are filling. Communication lines are failing. People are terrified! Gabriel! What can be done to bring rest to this city? Tell me there is a strategy. Tell me there is something we haven’t tried!"
Thorne sighed. “We’re attempting to contain the most active zones. If we can hold them there, maybe we can push them back.”
“Maybe?” Vale’s composure cracked. “This is not a training simulation. This is our capital burning, Gabriel!”
“I know,” Thorne said sharply, and for a moment the steel returned to his voice. “I know exactly what it is.”
Vale exhaled slowly, forcing himself to remain steady. “The public is asking where National Security is. They are asking why this keeps happening. For ten years we’ve endured these incursions. For ten years we’ve promised reform. And yet here we are. You have to know what to do!”
Thorne didn’t respond.
For ten years he had worn the uniform of responsibility, studied enemy patterns, adjusted defense protocols, requested increased funding, and promised resilience. And still, the attacks came!
This time, they had struck simultaneously from multiple fronts, exploiting weaknesses Thorne had not predicted. His teams were scattered. Communications were compromised and intelligence had failed.
He swallowed.
“President Vale,” he said slowly, “we don’t have a decisive countermeasure at this moment. Each time we reinforce a wall, they find a door."
The words tasted like ash.
Vale sank into his chair.
Outside his window, a helicopter spiraled low, attempting to navigate through smoke.
“Then we are defenseless,” Vale murmured.
Thorne did not answer.
Because it was true. Vale held the public mandate. Thorne commanded the shield. But neither of them had power to control the situation.
“President Vale,” Thorne said at last, “I will not lie to you. This is fiercer than anything we’ve faced. Our enemies came prepared. I fear this may only be the beginning.”
Meanwhile, the iron gates of the Leeds family mansion creaked open as a sleek black car rolled into the long driveway, tires crunching softly against gravel that had not changed in nearly two decades.
Standing at the entrance of the mansion was Alexander Leeds who had been away for fifteen years. He had left Dawn City as a determined young man chasing education and opportunity overseas.
Now he was back.
He adjusted his jacket and walked toward the mansion doors.
Just as he reached the final step, the grand wooden doors burst open.
From inside the house came the sound of hurried footsteps and overlapping voices, as the Leeds family welcomed him.
Just then, a sharp crack split through the air.
Everyone froze.
Another crack followed.
Then several more in rapid succession.
They were gunshots.

The Unbeatable Warlord Chapter 17
“So he runs north, hiding like a wounded animal,” Vale growled. The words came out low and heavy, filled with pure hatred. His hand tightened into a fist before he slammed it violently against the table. The thick wood shook under the impact, and the sharp sound echoed through the chamber like a gunshot. “Then go!” he roared. His furious gaze locked onto the group of men assigned to hunt Alexander Leeds. “Go to that town and bring me his head. I don’t care how you do it, and I don’t care how long it takes, but Alexander Leeds must die!” Vale barked. The men immediately straightened. “Yes, sir!” several of them responded at once. None of them dared question him. Vale’s temper was well known throughout Dawn City, and no one wanted to be the man who tested the limits of his patience. Without another word, they turned and hurried toward the exit of the chamber, eager to leave before his anger exploded again. Their boots had barely reached the doorway when Vale’s voice sudd

The Unbeatable Warlord Chapter 16
Back in Dawn City, Vale was furious beyond measure. The report that had just reached him struck like a spark falling into dry powder. The men he had personally entrusted with the task of eliminating Alexander Leeds had failed—utterly and completely. The news ignited a storm of rage inside him, one that spread quickly through his entire body. His lips curled into a savage snarl, and his teeth showed as if he were some wounded predator ready to tear apart anything that dared stand before him. The room fell into a suffocating silence as everyone present sensed the danger in the air. “What do you mean he’s still alive?!” Vale suddenly exploded, his voice crashing against the walls like thunder. His furious gaze fixed on the trembling messenger who had delivered the report. “Did you send idiots to do my bidding? Or are my men now too incompetent to finish a simple task?” The messenger lowered his head immediately, his body shaking uncontrollably. Sweat gathered along his temples, b

The Unbeatable Warlord Chapter 15
The moment Alexander called the Governor of Aurora a “bastard,” a heavy silence fell over the grand living room. For a brief second, no one moved. Then the room erupted with fury. The governor’s face darkened, veins rising along his temples. Around him, the men who had captured Alexander stiffened, their hands instinctively drifting toward their weapons. “You insolent fool! How dare you speak to me like that? Do you even understand the consequences of your words?” the governor roared. Alexander’s eyes burned with rage. His chest rose and fell as anger surged through him. “Consequences?” he shot back. “You think you can threaten me, you tyrant? You think your wealth, your title, and your army frighten me?” He stepped forward, his voice sharp with contempt. “I’ve crushed your pawns! I’ve exposed your lies. And you—” He stopped just long enough to spit on the floor near the governor’s polished shoes. “—you’re nothing but a coward hiding behind guards and walls!” The

The Unbeatable Warlord Chapter 14
Alexander’s grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles turned white. Rage and disbelief surged through him. He sank deeper into the seat, struggling to process the weight of the news. The thought that his mother and siblings had been killed so brutally gnawed at him. “They will pay,” he said at last, his voice calm but laced with deadly resolve. “Every life taken will be avenged. I will find the ones responsible… and I will deal with them myself.” The call ended, leaving only the quiet hum of the engine inside the vehicle. Alexander stared ahead, devastated. The loss of his mother and siblings felt like a wound that refused to close. Just then, the vehicle in front of them suddenly swerved sideways, forcing the taxi he was riding in to stop abruptly. Another car slid in from the side, blocking the road completely. Alexander’s trained eyes instantly recognized the setup. This wasn’t a traffic accident. It was an ambush. “…We’re blocked,” the driver said nervously.
