Lena rolled her eyes at Connor who had ignored her question.

She then remembered what Connor had said to her earlier about what if she failed to secure the company and her carefully lined brows drew together in an expression that mixed irritation, confusion, and a kind of superiority that she wore like a crown.

She shifted her weight from one heel to the other, crossed her arms with a dramatic sigh, and then uncrossed them again because she could not understand why Connor was standing there so calmly after saying something so ridiculous. Her voice rose a little as she demanded.

“Connor, what are you even talking about? What do you mean what if we fail to secure the company? Are you sick or something? Is that what this is about? You think because you walked into this building you suddenly have the right to make nonsense predictions?”

She scoffed loudly, tilting her head as she looked him up and down with a mixture of disgust and amusement, as though she were examining someone far ben

The last of the Montgomery guests were finally pushed out of the hall, their angry voices fading into the night as the heavy doors shut behind them. The once-chaotic ground floor slowly returned to silence.Torn ribbons lay on the floor, overturned chairs were scattered around, and the air still carried the sharp tension of what had just happened.Diego Spears stood a few steps away from Connor, his expression calm but apologetic.“I should apologize,” Diego said, breaking the silence as he adjusted his cufflinks. “Truthfully, I should have done this a long time ago. I shouldn’t have allowed the Montgomery family to stay here for even a second.”Connor smiled faintly, shaking his head. “It’s fine. Really. You handled it when it mattered.”Diego studied him closely. “You’re far too patient, Connor Winchester.”Connor glanced toward the elevator, then back at Diego. “Patient?”“With your ex-wife,” Diego clarified. “Lena Montgomery. If it were me, I would have crushed her arrogance the m

Lena let out a sharp, mocking laugh and folded her arms tightly across her chest.“There is absolutely nothing to see here,” she said loudly, making sure every nearby guest could hear her. “Mr. Diego Spears, you can stop this performance now. You cannot stop me from celebrating my engagement here.”She lifted her chin proudly. “You have no influence in this place whatsoever.”Diego did not respond. He simply held his phone in his hand, his expression was unreadable.Lena scoffed again and turned slightly, as though dismissing him completely.Benjamin stepped forward then, his shoulders squared, his voice rising with arrogance.“You see,” Benjamin said, pointing loosely at Diego, “just because people made the mistake of treating you like some kind of celebrity when you walked in does not mean you are actually somebody.”A few guests exchanged uneasy glances.Benjamin continued, growing bolder with every word. “You are a nobody. The fact that I kept quiet while you were blabbing earlier

Connor walked forward calmly, his steps unhurried, as though the stunned silence around him did not exist. The moment he reached Diego, Diego straightened instantly.Diego and his two men bowed slightly once more at Connor’s appearance.“Good evening, Master,” Diego said respectfully. The word landed like thunder.Lena staggered back half a step.“Ma—Master?” she repeated hoarsely. She shook her head hard, as if trying to physically shake the sound out of her ears. “No. No, that’s not right.”Her eyes darted wildly between Connor and Diego, desperately searching for an explanation that would make sense.“What did you just call him?” Lena demanded.Diego did not even glance at her.Instead, his face lit up with genuine relief as he turned fully to Connor. “I finally get to meet you in person after such a long wait,” he said with deep respect. “Thank you for granting me this opportunity. Truly.”Connor nodded slightly. “You didn’t need to rush here,” he said calmly. “I told you I was on

Mr. Montgomery let out a scoff that was sharp and deliberate, the kind meant to reclaim dignity after being spoken down to. He straightened his back and raised his voice just enough to draw attention.“Mr. Diego.”Diego halted mid-step.His two bodyguards stopped instantly, like shadows frozen behind him. The sudden pause drew curious glances from nearby guests. Diego turned slowly, his expression unreadable as his eyes settled on Mr. Montgomery.“Yes?” Diego asked, with a flat tone.Mr. Montgomery forced a laugh, waving his hand lightly as though the tension was nothing more than a misunderstanding. “You really are something,” he said. “Pretending you came here for someone else—someone supposedly bigger than our family.”Mrs. Montgomery chuckled awkwardly, quickly joining in. “Honestly, you almost had us fooled.”Lena’s lips curved into a tight smile. She folded her arms, nodding. “You’re very convincing,” she added. “For a moment, I really thought you came for someone else. You are

The glass doors of Elite Series Hall slid open once again.Diego Spears walked in with long, confident strides, his presence ncommanding the entire space without him needing to say a word. Two bodyguards followed closely behind him, their expressions sharp and alert. All three men were dressed in impeccably tailored suits—dark, expensive, and unmistakably elite. The celebration inside stopped instantly.Diego paused just a few steps inside the entrance, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings. His brows slowly drew together as he took in the decorations, the guests, and the general atmosphere of the hall. But there was no sign of Connor. He turned slightly and glanced at the bodyguard to his right. “Are you sure this is the place?” he asked in a low voice.“Yes, sir,” the bodyguard replied immediately.Diego’s gaze hardened. “Go outside. Check again.”The bodyguard nodded and stepped back out through the doors. A few seconds later, he returned, bowing slightly. “The banner confirms

The elevator doors slid open smoothly, revealing the top floor of Elite Series Hall.Connor stepped out first, his posture relaxed, his expression calm. Iris followed beside him, her heels clicking softly against the polished floor. The atmosphere upstairs was entirely different from the noisy, tense engagement hall below. The lighting was warmer, the space quieter, and the air carried a faint scent of luxury. The entire floor had been reserved. No other tables were occupied.Only one table sat at the center of the hall, carefully arranged with fresh flowers, crystal glasses, and soft lighting that reflected gently off the gold accents in the room.Iris looked around slowly, her lips parting in quiet amazement.“This place…” she murmured, lowering her voice instinctively. “It’s beautiful.”Connor pulled out a chair for her. “Please,” he said calmly. She smiled, sitting down, while Connor took his seat across from her. For a brief moment, neither of them spoke. The silence felt in
