“Your mission is to make all these people stop looking down on you, and punish them for their errors. In other words, you must increase your prestige point by ten percent. If you must be the biggest global star, and the most powerful man in the world, one thing you can't lack is prestige, admiration and worship of people. This is not just a mission, it's your first training.”

“What's my current prestige point?” Alvin asked in his mind.

“1%. And that one percent is only because the little fool you just rescued respects you, alongside that bartender colleague of yours.”

“What's the difficulty level of the mission? And what are the rewards?”

“Worry about passing successfully before you think about the reward.” The system said, casually dismissing him.

“Look at how stomped he looks at being found out. He's merely a snake pretending to be a dragon. Get out immediately before the security gets here. Otherwise, even the king of heaven won't be able to save you.” One of the sales attendants arrogantly declared.

“Big brother, let's go. We can go to the market later.” Leah whispered, pulling on Alvin’s sleeves.

“Ho! Isn't this the fallen daughter of KS group?” Someone said decisively from behind them, making Leah shrink at the spot, pulling closer to Alvin.

Alvin turned around to see a young man dressed in expensive attire, with what he could swear was a fake gold chain sauntering towards them, smelling like alcohol. He must be returning from some club, and directly came here to change his clothes before going to his morning engagements.

“Welcome, young master. How can we be of service?” The sales attendants asked with flattering smiles on their faces.

The young man puffed off his chest in an arrogant pose, slipping his left hand into his pocket. He turned to Alvin and Leah, gave them a glance filled with disdain and assumed a haughty pose with his jaw slightly tilted.

“Isn't this Leah? I heard you dropped out from school after your family went bankrupt. Tsk tsk tsk. Yet, you had the guts to come here. Look around you, this is Starlight. Is this place somewhere you're qualified to come to? Get lost immediately, before this young master teaches you a lesson.”

Alvin laughed at that moment.

“Young master? You're dressed in fake gold chain and watch, yet you claim to be a young master. These sales clerks are indeed blind. Flattering the rich and bullying the weak. However, their blind eyes chose wrongly, being deceived by fake goods. With stupid staff like this, it's only a matter of time before Starlight mall goes bankrupt.”

“How dare you?” One of the female staff roared and immediately tried to slap him.

Alvin caught her hand and twisted it, making her scream out in pain. The young master who had been stunned at being called out by Alvin quickly recovered his composure and immediately swung a punch at him.

Alvin slapped his hand back, and gave him a dirty slap. His palm prints immediately appeared on the man's face, and the man's nose began to bleed.

“Blood, blood.” The man whispered in horror, looking at the blood which stained his fingers. He immediately collapsed in shock, unable to take the fright.

“You, you, you. How dare you assault Liam Shawn? He's from a very powerful family.” One of the sales attendants stammered, looking at him in horror.

“You came in here and assaulted our workers and VIP client. This is Starlight mall. You must have a death wish! Securityyyyyyy!” The other staff whom he twisted her hand roared, her eyes blazing fury.

“Big brother, let's go.” Leah muttered fearfully, pulling on his sleeves.

“I'm the one who brought you here. And we won't leave till you buy all the things you like.” Alvin whispered, holding her hand firmly.

Three security guards soon ran ran to them holding batons.

“Beat these two wretched things to a pulp and throw them out!” She shouted, pointing at Alvin and Leah who was shivering in fear.

One of the guards sighed and looked at Alvin, instinctively realizing that the legendary two faced gold diggers of Starlight mall must have offended the poor looking man while trying to curry favor with the collapsed playboy on the floor. Those two were notorious for vying to serve rich men. Their only intention in coming to work for Starlight mall was to entrap a rich man who would lift them out of poverty. There were also few others like that in the mall, and some of the workers whose principles do not align with their gold digging lifestyle always found them disgusting.

“Please sir, come with us.” He whispered, trying to spare Alvin some embarrassment.

“I'm not coming with you till I'm done with what I initially came to do. Is this how Starlight mall treat your guests? Harassing them because they are not dressed in labels you recognize? I have truly experienced the darker side of snobbish idiots this early morning, and I must say, this mall would be heading towards destruction if this continues.” Alvin insisted, looking straight at the sales attendant with the fractured hand.

“Why are you engaging in long talks with him? You lowly security guard, I said beat him and kick him out. Or do you want me to fire you?” The other attendant shouted.

The other two security guards immediately came at him with batons. He quickly disarmed them, using the batons to beat them black and blue. Soon, they lay on the ground groaning.

“Who else do you wanna call?” Alvin asked, grinning at the two sales attendants who were standing petrified.

Every guard in Starlight mall were carefully selected and underwent special forces training to protect the VIP clients better, and allow them to have peace of mind. But Alvin easily disarmed them, and beat them to a pulp.

“What's going on here?” Someone asked, coming out from behind the clothes rack.

The two women quickly bowed to the beautiful woman dressed in a dark blue suit, alongside the security guard who didn't join in the fight.

“Manager, this beggar, this mongrel came to the designer brands section to buy goods. I calmly tried to send him away and show him where he could buy lower budget clothes, but he began to act up. Not only did he attack us, he beat up master Shawn when he tried to set them right, and accused him of wearing fake gold chains. Look, he even beat up our security guards. We must not let this slide. Otherwise, people would think that our Starlight mall is an easy target. We have to get them arrested and sent to prison immediately.” The other sales attendant quickly said.

  • salvation even for a traitor

Alvin’s mind worked fast, doing a quick evaluation, thoughts snapping together like blades. The grandmaster was wearing a concealment artefact to hide his true cultivation, probably the black cloak draped around his shoulders, drinking in light and truth. There was also no telling how many sick tricks and trump cards he had in his hands. It was better to end things early than to drag it out into an exhausting tug of war, a dance with death that bled minutes he didn’t have. Wasting time would only complicate matters. Most importantly, Aurelio was still home, waiting for him to return, his small face pressed to the window, trusting. The grandmaster’s gaze sharpened beneath the cloak, two coals of malice flaring. “Oh? You’re indeed formidable. Even better. A puppet made from you must be insanely powerful.” Alvin chuckled and disappeared from the spot, escaping from the devious sneak attack the grandmaster had sent, a thread of corrosive qi slicing where his throat had been a heartb

Alvin stopped beside the girl. She was breathing heavily, a trace of blood by the side of her lips. Eyes defiant but broken — a contradiction that tore at something deep in his chest. He stopped beside her and pulled her outside, away from the others, away from their hate. When they got to a secluded area, he exhaled and looked at her. “Wait here. I will hurry inside and check a few things. I will be back to send you to safety in a short while.” The girl chuckled. A sarcastic, grating sound that went straight to the brain, like nails on bone. Alvin paused, briefly turning to check on her. “You want to bring me to safety? Ridiculous. You should worry about staying alive first.” “I will definitely return,” Alvin snapped back, his voice hard as tempered steel, “and rescue you. Even from yourself.” Something in the girl’s eyes shifted, a crack in the void, and she fisted a handful of her ragged clothes, face drawn into a wince, her groan hanging somewhere around her neck and nev

  • ESCAPE

Alvin could feel the children’s resentful gazes, and the fear festering around them…thick, acrid, contagious. “Stay still. I won’t let anyone harm you.” His voice was low, iron-clad, a promise forged in blood. With a slight move of his hands, a circle appeared around the kids, barriers of defensive light rising above them like tides called by the moon. He flicked his fingers again, and reinforced shields followed, circling the kids, ready to reflect the attacks, ready to bleed for them if they had to. Inside the barrier, a boy hissed, full of anger, his voice cracking. “Why’s she inside here too? She will just endanger the others.” The girl gave him the side eye but kept silent, her face a blank wall. The rich girl dragged in a shaky breath, face contorting, feeling incredibly wronged. Someone compromised their safety, yet wasn’t kicked out. It sat in her throat like glass. A sixteen-year-old boy pointed at the traitor, his finger shaking. “I’ve got my eyes on you. If you t

  • SHE'S DAMAGED

Alvin’s heart stopped, a dead, cold stall in his chest, and he looked back at the children shivering in fear. A greater percentage of them were putting on brave faces, trying not to show the visceral fear tearing through them, shredding them from the inside out. “Don’t be afraid. I will protect you all. You just need to keep up with my pace.” His voice was low, steady. An anchor in a sea of panic. Unlike the first batch, this group of captured kids were mostly teens with the youngest around ten years old. So there were no crying babies to be comforted. Everyone had a rough idea of what was expected of them to ensure they left safely. Fear had taught them faster than any teacher ever could. Alvin stopped mid-way. “Wait here.” He zoomed out, toward the approaching soldiers, a black streak against the dark. Two minutes later, he returned, blood dripping from the dagger in his left hand, each drop hitting the ground like a clock counting down. “Hurry, more are coming.” The kid

  • TRAITOR

Alvin’s heart skipped, a brutal, physical jolt in his chest. He turned to the kid. “Be quiet.” The fifteen-year-old boy clamped a palm over the mouth of the child who screamed, his own eyes wide, swimming in raw, undiluted terror. Alvin sent out primal fire from his solar physique, white-hot, merciless, born of a star’s rage, alongside loaded syringes that tore through the air like bullets into the bodies of the corpse soldiers blocking them. Only low growls followed, wet and inhuman, before the corpse soldiers turned into piles of ashes, collapsing without even the grace of a death cry. The children were trembling behind him, fear rooted so deeply in their hearts it had become part of their marrow, part of their bones. “Let’s move. They must have noticed something is wrong.” His voice was low, edged with iron. He moved a long, loose rope around the waist of each child, connecting them in a neat line to himself to ensure no one got left behind. It wasn’t tight enough to make

  • Moving in the chaos

Alvin knew waiting for cars to come out and slip in wouldn’t work again. They’d adapted. He had to be faster. “As I move, blind the cameras while I flash through. Don’t take long enough for them to know something is wrong.” He tapped Ryker and gave him a subtle nod — not reassurance, but command. Using his memory of the villa’s veins and bones from the system’s map, he zapped to the side where he recalled the security to be a little weaker, a joining point in the formation where two wards met and bickered like tired guards. He soared into the air, diving straight toward the barrier, a pointed, drill-like object clenched in his hand. He pierced through the barrier and dove into the villa headfirst, a bullet of intent. The object punched a hole in the formation, and he passed through like a water current…soundless, shapeless…leaving the barrier to automatically repair itself behind him, sealing shut as if he’d never been there. He rolled on the floor and zoomed in a half-squat u
