Chapter 66

Lucas felt his power increase as the runes were becoming more attuned to his body as his own body was getting used to them as well as they were harmonizing as he ran towards the golems and his own brats as the others followed on their foot as they charged at the enemies.

Alpha and the rest of the boys also noticed their Lord and the army coming towards them with Lucas at their helm. the guy himself nodded to them as he approached as they smiled at his acknowledgement, but focused back on the battle as they knew that it had more priority at the moment.

Lucas charged forward, not about to let this opportunity go by as Aslaug immediately followed after him, being the only one who is equal ground to him, followed by Andvaranaut, Olivia and Kriemhild as they charged.

He reached the nearest golem as his sword sang as he slashed it's leg as he passed one of his boys as he slashed off its right arm, grabbed it to have leverage before he plunged the sword into the golems head, got a foothold and retrieved the sword and sliced its head off.

Beside him Aslaug slammed into the golem near his own as it was toppled down as the boys jumped off of it as she crushed its head with a stomp.

"Destroy its entire body." Aslaug said to him as he nodded.

He jumped down, grabbed its leg as he grunted as the runes helped him as he lifted the rest of the golem as he chucked it at the golem beside him as they both crashed and was destroyed into pieces as Aslaug also destroyed the one she targeted.

Andvaranaut, Olivia and Kriemhild took care of the rest of the golems with the latter getting help from some of the boys while the soldiers attacked the rest of the enemy soldiers and killed them as Lucas' gaze swept across the battlefield as he saw that the golems and soldiers have been taken care of as he sighed in relief before he looked towards the enemy kingdom.

"We need to go now." Lucas said as he looked at the rest of his group.

"That was the plan to be honest. Unless we get to Sweden and the royal palace and take care of the mage. We can leave the rest of the soldiers here to keep the enemies from advancing." Andvaranaut said to him with a nod.

"Then let us not waste time." Olivia said to them seriously.

Lucas nodded as he ran forward with the others following behind him as they spotted some horses at the edge who were tied and had their eyes covered. He shared a glance with his comrades as they nodded to him as they got the general idea as they charged towards the horses.

They quickly got on the horses and they neighed in response to being mounted as they all freed the horses and rode them towards the kingdom of Sweden with all their might. They were able to see that their royal palace was being attacked by the mysterious mages attacks as they knew that they had to do it quickly.

"Let's go!" Lucas shouted as they charged through.

They quickly passed the border after a few minutes and towards the high walls that surrounded the area ahead and finally allowed the people of Norway to see the state of Sweden in its entirety without obstructions.

Their eyes widened when they saw that that state of the kingdom was much worse than they believed it to be, being that there were soldiers stationed inside the walls, but also being surrounded by chaos as well.

There wasn't much order in the place as soldiers were scrambling about and getting weapons and even hitting the civilians for some things as they charged at Lucas and his group as he did a quick sweep and noted the number of soldiers.

He quickly jumped straight from the horse and stabbed the head of the first soldier, kicked and broke the jaw of the next, pulled the sword out and decapitated the ones around him as their heads flew into the air as he attacked the rest in a flurry before he opened portals and sent some of the energy he absorbed at them and cleared a path.

"Let's go!" Lucas shouted as he jumped back onto his horse as they all charged straight through the open path.

He also created a barrier around them all to grant them protection as they rushed through the pathway and due to the fact that the soldiers were concentrated around the wall as it was easy for them to breach the enemy lines and go straight for the royal palace.

"How long will it take to get there?" Lucas asked the princess as he glanced at her for a second.

"It will take at least half an eykt to get there, that is unless we are attacked on the way." Olivia said to him seriously.

'Half an eykt... That means half an hour, shit that is a long time.' Lucas thought to himself as he knew that he can't complain about that.

"Whatever the case may be, we must get to the palace as soon as possible." Andvaranaut said to them as he scanned their surroundings.

"Tch. This is going to take too long." Aslaug said as she clicked her tongue.

"This is the better option. I don't want to tire myself out before I face the mage who was able to do so many things." Lucas said to the demigoddess as she grumbled.

"H-He is right. Considering the fact that he was able to do so much, I don't want to fight him while we are tired." Kriemhild said as she understood his reason.

"Horses have good instincts and a sense of danger, it will grant us more protection." Andvaranaut said to the group as they rode towards the enemy.

At the same time, at the castle of the royal family of Norway, it was currently being defended by the court mage as he was using his magic to protect the palace and the royal family from the magical attacks as he conjured a barrier to block the golden magical beams as he grunted a bit.

"Will you be able to hold it?" King Arvid asked the court mage as he is wearing his armor.

"Not to worry my king, I am strong enough to protect the palace. However, considering the fact that this is a new mage that is attacking us, and the enemy nation also still probably possesses their court mage as well, it will be quite difficult for me to keep on protecting this place.

"Aren't there any ways to stop it?" Signe asked the mage as she was quite worried.

"Unless the enemy mage is taken care of immediately, I don't have much choice. If I do try to attack, I will not be able to do the job of protecting you as proficiently as now." The court mage said to them as he kept on blocking the attacks.

The royals understood the concerns of the court mage and so stayed silent as the king cursed his inability to do anything about these new attacks that are being done against him. He had given orders to his servants to fetch some armaments from his personal armory for himself and his wife, but until then, he will have to stay behind the court mage.

'I hope that you are fine my daughter, for I can only hope that you will win in your goal of stopping our enemy.' Arvid thought to himself as he felt fear for his daughter.

He knew that she had Andvaranaut with her for her protection, but he still worried for her, unable to lead the charge due to his responsibilities to the kingdom and for the organisation of the soldiers and the kingdom.

'Oh daughter, I pray that the Gods will be with you.' Signe thought to herself as she prayed for the safety of her child.
