On the other side, a Rolls-Royce glided into the estate, drawing envious gasps from pedestrians who marveled at the limited-edition luxury car. Inside, Elara, the wealthiest person in Dominus City and one of Kai’s most trusted allies, respectfully reported tonight’s agenda.
“Master, the banquet will be held promptly at 9 PM. All the bosses working for the Orion Group in Dominus City are eager to meet you,” she said.
Kai smirked, his lips curling with anticipation. He, too, was looking forward to the evening’s event. But before that, there was a pressing issue to take care of.
“Stop in front of the Sky Hall,” Kai’s deep voice rumbled, his eyes gleaming with a mischievous light.
If someone wanted to stir things up at the wedding, then why not give them a show they would never forget?
As Kai stepped down, he heard a familiar voice, dripping with smug satisfaction.
“Well, look what the wind dragged in.”
Kai didn’t even need to turn. The stench of arrogance said it all.
Reginald Thompson strolled out, champagne in hand, flashing his trademark fake smile. “Didn’t think you’d show your face here, Blackwood. I figured you’d be too ashamed.
“What are you doing here?” His tone was laced with amusement. “Don’t tell me you’re here to beg for scraps?”
“Or maybe...” He leaned in slightly. “You still can’t let go of Astrid? You poor thing. Showing up at her wedding like some desperate stray, hoping for what? Closure?”
Kai smirked. It seemed he didn’t need to put on a show after all. The supporting actor was already in position, and everything was falling perfectly into place.
Kai deliberately let a look of contempt flash across his face as he fixed his gaze on Reginald. "Quit your delusions. Just one more glance at you two and I’ll be sick to my stomach."
Reginald fell right into the trap!
His temper flared instantly. Kai was nothing—just a worthless, abandoned stray dog, and yet, he dared to act so boldly in front of him! Unforgivable!
Reginald’s eyes darkened as he fixed Kai with a murderous stare. "Is that so?" he sneered. "Then let me see if you’ll puke out your guts and heart."
"Guards!" He waved his hand, and in an instant, dozens of muscle-bound men appeared, their eyes cold and threatening, all focused on Kai.
"Here we go again", Kai stepped forward, radiating an aura of danger. "Reginald, if I step inside, your wedding is over!"
The confidence in those words unsettled Reginald, and at the same time, stirred a surge of blood to his head, “Big words, Blackwood.”
Kai didn’t even blink. “Then let’s see.” With that, he strode boldly toward the banquet hall.
"Keep an eye on him," Reginald hissed, his tone low and venomous. "If he dares stir trouble..." His smile twisted into something dark and malevolent, a grin so chilling it made the hairs on the bodyguards' necks stand on end.
The moment Kai stepped in, his eyes immediately landed on the massive crystal sculpture at the center, with a crowd gathered around it. Right in front of the sculpture stood Astrid, holding a champagne flute, her face radiating smug satisfaction.
The sharp sound of clinking glasses echoed, and the crowd of sycophantic guests began to cheer, "To Elara! To her special wedding gift!"
"Astrid, tell us more about Elara. We’re all so intrigued by this self-made queen of business.”
"Yes, the last time I heard her name, it was as she rang the bell at Nasdaq—she truly stole the spotlight."
"Well," Astrid replied with a coy smile, "it’s mostly thanks to my husband, Reginald."
"They’re great friends. Elara holds this wedding in such high regard that she had this crystal sculpture custom-made just for us."
"May our marriage be as clear and transparent as crystal," she added, her voice laced with satisfaction.
Kai’s jaw ticked.
What a joke.
Elara was his grandfather's most loyal and capable subordinate; he knew everything about her.
She would never recognize someone as hypocritical as Reginald, nor would she ever waste a gift on two adulterers celebrating their marriage.
Kai’s gaze swept over the so-called sculpture.
It was nothing more than an overpriced piece of junk, probably dug up from a gallery clearance bin. Yet here they were, basking in the false glow of stolen glory. It was all just a pathetic, self-made farce.
"You bastard! You actually had the guts to show up at the wedding?" A sharp voice cut through the air.
Kai turned to see Sage striding toward him, flanked by a crew of bodyguards. From a distance, it looked like a pack of muscleheads walking a bulldog.
"See these guys?" Sage bragged. "My future brother-in-law, Mr. Reginald, sent them just for me."
"You might’ve taken me down once, but can you handle all of them?"
Sage smirked smugly as the bodyguards sized up Kai’s lean frame, cracking their knuckles.
They were expecting a real fight—not some polite college kid who looked like he still held doors open for strangers.
Just one flick of a finger and this poor kid would be in a full body cast. Pathetic.
"What’s going on here?" A cold, clear voice rang out. The room quieted.
Kai turned to see a woman standing a few feet away. Tall. Poised. Eyes sharp as if they could peel through a man’s soul.
She wasn't looking at him...she was glaring at Sage.
"You're at a wedding," she said, her voice cold. "Not a street fight!"
"Well said, Abigail. But do you even know who you're defending?" Sage said with a sneer.
"Of course," Abigail replied, turning to face Kai. "Astrid’s ex-fiancé—Kai. I’ve heard plenty about you."
She extended her hand, clearly offering a friendly gesture.
Kai raised a brow. Interesting. This woman actually covered for him.
But before Kai could respond, Sage cut in.
“I thought you had standards, Abigail.”
“And I thought you had manners.” Abigail shot back
“Come on . Don’t act high and mighty." Sage scoffed.
"You’re still single, aren’t you? And I heard you are going to be a slut soon base on the news I'm hearing, how about I fuck your little cunt first” Lowering his gaze, he lustfully groped Abigail’s ass.
“Or maybe you’re just picky?”
The bodyguards burst into lewd laughter, their eyes shamelessly glued to Abigail’s proud curves.
"Y-You... how dare you!" Abigail was stunned. The humiliation hit, and tears welled up in her eyes.
"Shameless!" Kai grabbed Sage by the collar, eyes sharp and dangerous. "Apologize to her."
“B-Bastard, let go!” Sage choked, feet off the ground, but even struggling to breathe, he stayed arrogant—refusing to say sorry.
“Guess you didn’t learn your lesson.” Kai tightened his grip, ready to launch the pig like trash.
“Stop him! Now!” Sage shouted in panic as the bodyguards rushed in.
“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!”
The next moment, Astrid Laurent’s furious voice rang out.
All heads turned.
She stormed forward, face livid, eyes blazing as they landed on Kai.
"What the hell are you doing?!” She roared.

Chapter 465: No Rest for the Living
Five grueling hours later, Kai stood in the middle of the torn savannah, panting like a man who had just crawled back from the edge of death.Blood covered him. Some of it was his and most of it wasn’t.His chest rose and fell heavily as he watched his injuries knit themselves back together. Torn flesh sealed. Cracked skin smoothed. Bruised muscles relaxed inch by inch as his healing factor did its job, leaving behind only a dull ache and exhaustion that ran straight down to his bones.Around him, five massive beast corpses lay sprawled across the ground in unnatural positions, eyes glassy, mouths frozen mid-snarl. The earth was churned into chaos, deep gouges, shattered stone, claw marks everywhere , clear proof of just how ugly the fight had been.Kai exhaled slowly.“So… that happened,” he muttered hoarsely. Then he smelled it.Meat.Cooked. Perfectly cooked. How's that possible in the secret realm or was he imagining things cause he was hungry? His head snapped to the side.Zora
464: Think, or Be Torn Apart
Kai swallowed hard, throat dry as sand.Five beasts surrounding him. They look hungry, impatient and drooling like he was already halfway down their throats. His heart hammered against his ribs, but strangely… panic didn’t completely take over.Because one thing was very clear.Zora was still standing there.Arms folded, expression amused and definitely not lifting a finger. And that told him everything. This isn’t a test, Kai realized grimly. This is just… life.If this was something that could truly kill him, Zora wouldn’t be watching like this was a stage play. She would’ve interfered before things even got close to dangerous. The fact that she hadn’t moved meant one thing and one thing only.He could survive this.Barely, maybe painfully but he could. That realization grounded him.Still, another thought crept in, sharp and annoyed. Why didn’t she move him when he fainted after fighting the beast? Why leave him lying here like a piece of raw meat?He almost laughed bitterly.Of co
463: Wrong Time To Wake Up.
After a long while, Kai’s eyes flashed open. The first thing he saw was wrong.Very wrong. Two pale, low-hanging moons sat in the sky like watchful eyes, far too close, and far too bright. Beneath them, countless stars shimmered coldly, scattered across the heavens in a way that made his head throb just looking at them. For a few seconds, he lay there blinking, trying to convince himself that he was still unconscious, that this was some weird after-effect of pushing himself too hard.Did I die?Is this some afterlife discount version?Just as he was piecing together his thoughts, something warm and wet splashed onto his face.Kai froze.Another drop followed. Then another. His mind supplied several horrifying possibilities in rapid succession and none of them were pleasant.Slowly, very slowly, he lifted a hand and wiped his cheek.Sticky.His heart skipped. Before he could think any further, instinct kicked in. Kai sprang upright in one explosive motion, body screaming in protest onl
462: Ten, or Die
Kai swallowed hard, eyes locked onto the Three-Eyed Iron Buffalo standing before him.For a brief, fleeting moment, a very stupid thought crossed his mind.Maybe… maybe he can talk my way out of this.He almost laughed at himself.Zora doesn't listen.Zora decided. If she had any intention of hearing whatever excuse he could come up with, she wouldn’t have snapped her fingers and unleashed that monster in the first place. The ground beneath his feet was still trembling faintly from the beast’s presence alone, and its breath came out in slow, heavy bursts, each one sounding like a forge bellows preparing to melt steel.Kai exhaled slowly. His body screamed at him to rest. Every muscle felt tight, overstretched, drained to the core. His arms still carried the lingering numbness from the previous fight, and his breathing hadn’t even fully steadied yet. This wasn’t ideal. This wasn’t smart. But Zora didn’t train people to be smart much. She trained them to survive. And survival rarely wai
461: No Rest for the Breathing
Back to Kai.At the moment, he was bent slightly forward, hands braced against his knees, panting as he stared at the dead beast lying sprawled on the scorched ground before him. Its massive body twitched once… then went completely still, dust slowly settling around it like the world itself was finally catching its breath.Kai sucked in air through his teeth and straightened with effort.“Damn…” he muttered hoarsely. It had taken him far more effort than he wanted to admit. Not minutes. Not a quick burst of brute force. Hours. Actual, painful, brain-melting hours of fighting, dodging, recalculating, punching, retreating, and repeating the whole miserable cycle again and again. He rolled his shoulders, feeling the lingering ache deep inside his bones. This took longer than yesterday, he thought bitterly. At this rate, tomorrow I’ll be fighting a rock and it’ll still take me half a day to win.He glanced at the corpse again, then snorted quietly.“At least you had the decency to die,” h
460: Beyond the Gate
Though Abigail was confused, wondering what exactly was happening and what kind of place she had just stepped into, she still walked deeper past the gate without hesitation. The moment her foot crossed fully into the space beyond, the world behind her seemed to seal itself off, the towering gate fading from her awareness as though it had never existed in the first place. What greeted her made her slow to a stop.Beyond the gate was not a battlefield and not a valley of corpses. Not endless sword lights clashing in the air like she had half-expected after everything Zora had said.Instead, it was… a settlement.Rows upon rows of houses stretched out before her, arranged neatly along stone paths that twisted and branched like veins. The houses varied in size and style, some were small and simple, others looked ancient and grand, their roofs curved like drawn blades, their walls etched with faint sword patterns worn smooth by time. Every house carried a presence, subtle but sharp, as if
