A Bait

Ding!

Ding! Ding!

[Warning]

[Zombie Attack on Ranvier ]

[ Time 6 days, 1 hour]

Oliver drank water from a bottle he took from the refrigerator. He was off work these days and heard Della's voice chattering about it.

"Everything is ready." Oliver put down the bottle in his hand, then saw Della was on the phone with someone.

"He must have called Henry, those two trash humans are a perfect match."

Oliver walked towards his room, he ignored Della as if she wasn't even in this house. He had also prepared everything well to save himself.

Oliver brushed his brown hair back after putting on his shirt.

Ding!

The notification sound came again, making his brows furrow this time.

"Ah, what is this?"

[Gather food supplies, and save your loved ones.]

Oliver read it carefully, he sat down on the sofa. "It turns out that this system has more heart than them." Oliver smiled, he already had a plan today and would do what the system asked him to do immediately.

Della entered the room, she stared at Oliver sharply.

"It's been almost two weeks since you don't give me money, you are completely useless." Della pointed at Oliver, this time it was so clear that Della was an evil woman in his eyes.

"I'm not working," Oliver answered, restraining himself. As much as possible, he doesn't want to be at home because he is busy preparing many things for him.

He has bought a van and some equipment. Oliver knew that in his absence, Henry would be here. That's why he was reluctant to sleep on the bed, he was disgusted.

"What a useless man. Aren't you ashamed that you don't work and live poor like a vagabond? You don't see your friend Henry, he is a responsible and rich man!"

Oliver immediately stood up, his attitude with a sharp gaze immediately surprised Della. She backed away instinctively.

"You're so noisy as a useless wife."

Oliver took his jacket and left Della, he looked at his cell phone, someone he promised was waiting for him.

"I will witness the death of both of you together until death comes to you, isn't that extraordinary love for you?" Oliver grinned. He quickened his steps.

**

"Oliver, you bought a house up in the hills of Rainver town. Even a lot of people don't want to live here. The land is cheap, and things are hard to find here." Dereck looked at Oliver. "This is a dead place, Oliver." He lowered his voice, he spoke as if to scare Oliver.

"Noisy, Dereck. You better help me carry all this stuff. We have to do this quickly."

After yesterday's incident, Dereck did what his friend wanted.

He still didn't know what would happen, but nothing had gone wrong. Dereck's strange attitude of buying a house in a secluded place, there is no one around and collecting a lot of food, Dereck still accepts it.

After working for several hours, they finally finished assembling the groceries purchased in large quantities. They've been doing it for days.

"Done. We have to do something else."

Oliver looked at his watch, and he heard something. He walked towards the front of the two-story house—a big truck carrying armor and barbed wire.

"What else are we going to make, Oliver?"

Oliver just smiled at his friend. He had planned everything well, and having this place protected would greatly benefit him. He would throw away the layered protection, not wanting anything wrong to happen to him.

**

"Where have you been all this time? Go in the morning and come back at night. You should think more of me here."

Oliver put down his bag calmly and returned to his own house. Still, Della was babbling, which irritated him.

"I'm on to something, you know I have a new job now." Oliver lied, he looked at Della with calm eyes.

"What kind of job?"

"Jewelry-related work, I got a job carrying gems. So I brought them home and kept them well, we may leave this place soon.”

Della's expression immediately changed, she was not happy to hear Oliver's last answer.

"Wh-why do we have to get out of this house?" Della gulped. She felt panicked because something didn't go the way she wanted.

"I will sell it. But because on September 17th, I will bring Atlansia's 20 million dollars worth of jewels and put them at home. I can't sell the house until the jewels are taken by the people who own them."

Della's eyes widened, she was excited to hear Oliver's words.

She immediately sat beside Oliver and hugged his arm, which was quite large.

"So, you will bring the gems here?" she asked with shining eyes.

"That's what my boss said. I have to take good care of it. Otherwise, I might die later."

Della looked down, she smiled so broadly. Compared to this house, the gem was more tempting.

"Why to bring it here, Oliver?" she asked sweetly. Very different from before.

Oliver restrained himself.

"The owner said he had to trick other people so his jewels wouldn't be stolen. So he told me to bring them. Who would have thought this poor fellow would have such expensive jewels?"

Oliver spoke while touching Della's hair, he was lovely and Della was also so sweet in front of him.

He had thought about it, this is where everything should end. They must feel and know how to be the one they used to be ignored.

After that, Oliver in the bathroom washed his hands repeatedly with a visibly irritated face. He used the soap and washer again, again and again, until his hand hurt.

**

Oliver had expected something like this to happen since he pretended to be sleeping in his room to outwit Della.

Now he was behind the wall watching what Della would do.

"I heard what he said myself, Henry. If we can steal it, we can live in luxury."

Oliver squeezed his hand hard. The woman he used to love was smiling for another man—a shameless traitor.

"He loves me very much. During this time, he has never lied to me, you know for yourself that he is always begging for my love." Della looked at her nails, polished beautifully, one of Henry's money she used to beautify herself.

"He said September 17th. If it's gone, he will suffer and die, we don't need to get rid of him with our own hands."

Della nodded her head several times. "I know, I'll let you know later so you can come here, honey."

Their call finally ended. Della lay down on the couch, she looked up at the ceiling with pleasure.

"Twenty million Atlansia dollars will be mine!"

She hugged himself with the shadow of money flying in front of her.

"You shameless bastard, you'll find out for yourself what you'll get later."
