After classes were over, Alec grabbed his bag and began to head home immediately.

The sky became dark, and it looked like the rain was about to pour down heavily.

Alec reached the parking lot, but he was unaware of the big guys of his class waiting for him to show up so they could surround him and beat him up.

Alec was in a hurry to get home for two reasons.

The first reason was to avoid the bullies.

And the second reason was to get home before the rain started.

As Alec walked quickly, he was unaware of the guys that had watched him carefully and surrounded him.

He had to look around before he understood what was happening. He wondered how the bullies were able to trap him this way despite efforts to avoid them.

They just had to somehow find a way to get him alone in the parking lot, near their expensive cars.

"Not you dickheads again" Alec sighed "What the hell do you want from me?" He asked slowly.

A punch came his way the instant he dropped the question. He tried to dodge it, but he failed miserably and it landed on his nose.

Alec wiped his nose with his hand "Shit" He muttered when he saw blood. "You guys are assholes" he hissed despite being in pain, and he secretly hoped the guy who had saved him earlier today would come to his aid again.

The bad guys had gotten angrier when Alec called them assholes and they started the real strikes. It came from the front, left and right.

Alec fell to the ground, whimpering as they now kicked him hard. They stepped on him with hatred, throwing curses at him till no sound was heard from him anymore.

They stopped and stared at his figure on the ground which was now in bad shape courtesy to their nonstop strikes. Alec neither moved, nor made a sound. He looked lifeless.

"Weird. He is not making any sound" Sam observed, staring down at him.

"He knows he's supposed to keep his fucking trap shut" Kevin said, giving another kick, but Alec stayed still.

"Hol'on a sec, did we kill him?" Sam whispered, not taking his eyes off the lifeless Alec on the ground. "Did we?"

"I don't know" Kevin stepped on his arm, but there was no movement. "I mean is he supposed to die that early?"

"Exactly my thought" One of them named Jim, mumbled.

"But..." Sam paused, trying to observe the unconscious boy "Why does he look like he is not breathing?"

Kevin narrowed his eyes at Alec who was still laying motionless on the ground. "Shit! We've gotta go. Now!" He whispered urgently at the others. "Now!"

They got into their expensive cars hurriedly and sped out, leaving unconscious Alec on the ground.

Soon, the rain began to pour down heavily on him, slapping his skin, making him totally soaked, then the lightning bolt struck, while Alec still lay motionless on the ground.

****

There was a sound ringing loudly and repeatedly, but it sounded like an alarm, and it woke Alec up

With his eyes half shut, his hands found the alarm on the bedside table and he pressed it to stop the noise. He had thought the loud sound was really from the alarm.

He opened his eyes sluggishly, and let out a soft breath.

His vision wasn't clear and that made everything look very blurry to him.

"Holy shit, I'm in hell?" He asked no one in particular, still trying to understand what was going on. "It's quiet. I think I'm in heaven" He guessed.

Nothing made sense to him at first, everything was confusing, but when his vision got clearer, he was able to take in his strange environment properly.

With a silent groan, he sat up on the bed, looking around frantically. For a second, he got scared he had been kidnapped.

He glanced down at his body and noticed he was now in a clean, dry shirt. He wondered how he got into it as the last thing he could remember was receiving brutal beatings from the bullies in his school which caused him pain all over his body.

The sound which woke him up minutes ago, rang again, but it was louder and he couldn't figure out where the noise came from.

He checked the room over and over again, and it took him many seconds before he realized the sound was coming from inside of him.

He shut his eyes and he figured out that the alarm sound was ringing in his head all along.

With both hands, he held his head, groaning and grimacing.

After a few more seconds passed, the ringing finally stopped only to be replaced by a voice which could not be identitued as either masculine or feminine. It was best to say it was robotic.

"Host identified."

Alec frowned, completely mystified. "What host is being identified?" He whispered to himself, using his voice for the first time. He badly wanted an answer to his question but there was no one to give him a response.

"Binding protocol initiation in T-minus 5."

Alec was totally confused about what was currently happening to him. He began to think these were signs of mental instability.

"T-minus Five, four, three, two, one"

A wide rectagular screen resembling a projector screen, appeared right in front of him. He blinked repeatedly, thinking he was hallucinating the sudden appearance of the screen.

The screen showed the progress of the power transfer from zero percentage which will lead to getting him bound to the system.

"Energy transfer: 0 to 100%....."

After two seconds, the voice confirmed the completion of power transfer and binding "Power transfer complete. Host-system link established"

Alec blinked "Host-system link?"

"Affirmative, host"

"Jesus Christ!" Alec gasped with wide eyes "Did I just get a reply from a voice in...in my head?"

"Yes, host"

Alec's mouth hung open for seconds. "Okay, at this point, I am definitely going crazy. Confirmed. I'm crazy"

"Negative. Your mental state is stable."

Alec raised his brows, stunned when the voice replied his personal muttering. "You really think I'm not going crazy?"

"Affirmative, host"

Alec took a deep breath to calm his edginess. "This is a dream, Alec, It's a dream, okay?" He gently slapped the side of his head to keep his mind clear.

"This is reality. You are awake" The neutral voice spoke in his head again.

"Holy shit!" He whispered, widening his eyes. "Who the hell or what the hell are you? And why are you in my head?"

"I am your system interface. Host identified: Alexander Todd."

"Oh man, you even know my name" Alec whispered tiredly. "I'm really fucked now, am I not?" He pressed a palm on his forehead and fell back on the bed.

Well... if you’re between sixteen and twenty-three, ridiculously rich, and kinda addicted to competition, you can attend and enjoy it."Alec squinted at the elegant banner across the screen. "So charity, huh?” he muttered with a meaningful snort. "I bet fifteen out of twenty kids attending the event don’t even know what they’re gonna be donating to.""Donating?" Jeremy scoffed a laugh. "Man, they are not donating," he said, tossing a protein bar toward Alec. “They’re buying status. And tonight,

"Dad?" Alec called casually. "Hmm?" His dad hummed without looking up from his phone, his glasses resting gently on his nose and his mouth scrunched. Alan's mouth scrunched up more, his eyes showing he was annoyed with whatever he was seeing on his phone. "Know what, dad?""Hold on a sec...""Dad, are you having issues with your phone's operation?""No," Alan quickly said. Alec narrowed his eyes. "I can handle the phone," Alan said with a tight smile then added in a mutter. "Maybe your boss could've bought a less complicated phone for me.""My boss thought you'd like that model, that's why he bought it for you." Alec said with a small smirk, his brain flashing back to how he had scrolled through phones to buy online and chose the one his dad was using. So, yes, it wasn't Alec's bo
