Desperate times call for desperate measures. After being released from their probation, the members of the infamously "notorious" group, Dead Men Smiling, attempt to regroup and get rid rid of Emperor Nero for good. No one said it'll be an easy task; especially since the group is currently split and everyone's first priority being to meet up as soon as possible. As time crawls on, discoveries are made and the skeletons that were once well hidden begin to fall out of the closet leaving a simple question: who can be trusted?

In this novel, humans have been killed almost entirely by the existence of beasts, which are animals that have evolved to the point of resembling demons incarnate in animals. So the food chain has been completely reversed, therefore, mankind has had to hide in a couple of islands in the middle of the ocean in order to stay alive, but this form of survival will not last forever. Get into the story of this dystopian world if you want to read a different survival novel with a darker approach, where the development of the story will be slow but satisfying to read.

This is also what allowed the story to exist, as our main characters were all transported. The method is not known, nor why they survived. We can say it is for the story, for now... They all now find themselves on Ethos, eating a mouthful of dirt as they struggled for breath. Some find their situation horrible, others find it relaxing and peaceful. Elrond is saved by a fate so cruel or eerie that awaits him as he either perishes or takes the hand of the pointed-ear stranger, who is also an enemy of their kind and a protector of the last Elderwood– the high elves.

The book is quite slow paced, with some arcs seeming quite useless and boring. However, I promise, every arc is important and I urge you to continue. If you can't, I won't try to stop you because the choice is yours.
