Jarric killed the newly King because he disapproved how dependent Skyreach have become to the Empire, and Jarric ultimately believes that the "true" Highlanders must stand on their own never bow to anyone but themselves. As a knight of the Empire and a son of Skyreach, his resolve was shaken between serving his homeland or staying true to his oath as a knight of the Empire.
