05 - Asher the Stacked

Today was my birthday, I was eighteen.

In this world, eighteen is a bit older than you have to be to be considered an adult.

Fifteen or sixteen I would also be one but eighteen just sounded right, to me.

Until now I have lived life as any common man would but only until today, because today is the day everything will change!

I stacked [Buff X] about 3650 times.

Theoretically, the next buff I would get should be about 36500 times stronger, right?

‘Do I have that right, Faye?’

...

‘Nothing to add?’

“I do not have anything to add.”

Right, you never do.

Over the last two decades, you rarely spoke and even then you only spoke to me when I directly addressed you.

'Fine, fine. That's just who you are but please, show me my stats, will you?'

Over the years I scrounged up all the XP I could get just to buy the skills which I thought would be the, so-called, best ones, but I couldn’t use most of them, either because I didn’t meet the stat requirements or just outright didn’t have enough MP to cast them.

Yes, yes, sad story, I know. Bit of a waste of precious XP.

But in the end, I still have them, if anything in the future change, which it will, because today was a special day.

There is a fun little lottery in the closest town, Charlo, and I heard the first price was a pretty nifty buff.

It was called arcane blessing and, Faye, if you will do the honors:

“[Arcane Blessing]

Upon using this skill the recipient’s MP regeneration will increase by 100% and all Ability Cool-down will be reduced by 50% for 10 minutes.

This effect has a one-day cool-down period.”

So instead of lasting 10 minutes it will last for about 25 days and my mana reg will be out the ass.

Then I'll get a low cool-down, low mana cost skill and spam it to level it up religiously.

A low level spell which gets overpowered in the higher levels must exist.

I'll just have to find it, but that's for later.

I entered the lottery a few hours ago and soon they will announce the winners

Even if I don’t win first place there has to be something else which is useful, like some cool armor or just straight up money and, to be honest, who could resist that?

Not me, that’s for certain because at the moment I was penniless.

Just yesterday I, basically, ran away from home and now I was already poor.

I told my mom and dad that I wanted to have an adventure come my eighteenth birthday, to travel and explore the world while I was still young.

Both of them were so strangely happy about it, my father even broke out in a happy cry.

“My little boy will now become a man,” that’s what he told me, he also handed me a bag of silver coins.

Eighteen was the perfect age to have an isekai adventure and I didn’t need my parents sticking around for that.

It would be kind of awkward having them around if I get something like a harem together.

Like the dumbass I was I already spend every single piece of silver that I had on a cool sword.

I just had to have it, it looked exactly like Vergil’s Yamato.

Of course, the people here don’t call it katana or anything like that, it's just an eastern sword.

It’s weird that the equivalent of Asia here is called ‘The East’ too.

This sword specifically comes from a place called Wakoku, somewhere deep in the east, maybe even the most eastward country in this world until you bump into what is considered the west again.

Funny how these things work.

There was a loud bell chiming outside and that could only mean one thing.

Time for me to win my prize.

A lot of people gathered around the market square, near the fountain.

There was a big platform with boxes on pedestals.

There were a few people up on the platform but a woman was taking charge.

With magic, she enhanced her voice so everyone could hear her loud and clear.

She went and called out everyone who won something by prize number.

A few prizes were actually very nice.

And I was surprised when I heard my name come up so early.

“Winner number eighteen: Asher Burell," she searched me out from the crowd and beckoned me to come up, "Get your prize.”

Climbing up the platform I waved at the people now beneath my feet.

“What did I get, my good woman?” I asked.

“Something very special.”

She paused for dramatic effect.

“[Lucky Bag]. You, my good Sir now have gotten a buff which grants you a 100% increase in experience for everything for 10 minutes. Maybe get out an instrument to master it? Or read a handyman’s guide.”
