Chapter 13

"Leave" Cheryl muttered trying so hard to hold the tears in.

"Leave already!!!" She yelled closing my eyes tightly. How could she? First I was hurt by Kyle, now some psycho from no where pops out with some gibberish. Serial killer? Is this some joke? Looks like me? Is she trying to remind me I lost my twin?

"Cheryl" Riley called out softly.

"Get lost" Cheryl muttered and ran up the stairs.

Shutting the door of her room, she threw herself on her bed and let the tears flow freely. Ain't I bound to experience peace at all? The least form of joy wouldn't hurt right? Cherish, how dare they do this to us? Is she trying to say you faked your death? What nonsense am I saying, you could barely kill a spider. She cried for some minutes before falling asleep, she was sure she'd definitely wake up with a banging headache and fever.

The next day...

Newton's Residence::::

"Won't you go to work?" Katina nagged as she's been doing since she returned.

"Karina leave my room please?" Kyle muttered frustratingly.

"Rise and shine bunny" Karina giggled dragging the curtains and letting the sun rays fill the room.

"What evil have I committed" Kyle muttered sadly dragging himself out of bed.

"I'm not needed at work for at least three days, so please let me enjoy it" Kyle said almost tearing up.

"I heard the news" Karina said joining him in bed.

"A serial killer?" She muttered, "since when" she asked.

"You have a phone right" Kyle smiled, "please leave my room and go catch up on what has been happening in your absence" he pleaded.

"I'd be glad to be updated by you, you explain so well" she laughed.

"Karina" Kyle growled.

"Bunny" she pouted.

"Come on" he said dragging her to the door, "go have your bathe, greet the maids, paint your nails or something and leave me the fuck alone" he yelled banging the door in her face.

"Eissshhh, I'm really cursed" he groaned walking back to his bed, he picked up his phone to see a message from Cheryl

"Goodmorning" it read.

"She's good at pretending, isn't she?" He scoffed, walking into bathroom to have a bath.

"Breakfast is ready sir" he heard from his room, a maid had come to clean.

"Hmmm" he hummed from inside.

"Kylan" Karina smiled.

"Little one" Kylan laughed.

"Stop it" Karina pouted.

"You've grown so big" Kylan patted her hair.

"You've grown scarier" Karina clicked her tongue, "thought you went missing, it's been two days since I returned and I'm just setting my eyes on you, I pity that unlucky girl that would have anything to do with you" she scoffed and he laughed.

"It's not all about relationships" Kylan smiled, "little one" he smirked.

"Don't call me that" she groaned, "it's just five years" she pouted.

"Not five days" he laughed as the maids arranged the table.

"Kylan" Kyle called surprised

"Detective sir" Kylan giggled.

"When was the last time I saw you home" Kyle smiled.

"Well little one is home, I had to take some leave" Kylan said and Karina stood up to sit beside Kyle.

"I'm twenty" she stuck out her tongue at Kylan and the maids smiled happily watching the siblings.

"Oh my babies" lady Sawyer gushed walking into the dinning with her husband.

"Mr Keith " Kyle greeted.

"I ain't under arrest am I?" His dad joked.

"Morning dad" Karina greeted excitedly.

"You're always high spirited my child, my favourite" her dad smiled cupping her cheek as she placed a peck on his lips.

"You can't go around kissing whoever" Kyle scoffed.

"It ain't your lips" Karina fired back with an eye roll.

"Lady Sawyer the first" Kylan greeted.

"My heir" their mom said dramatically and they all laughed.

"You may leave" Mr Keith said to the maid.

"Family breakfast, how sweet" Karina smiled.

"You can as well pray for the food little one" Kylan said and Karina pouted before praying.

Riley returned to her routine of patrolling the city since she left her uncle's house. Since the death of her parents, she had been staying with her father's brother and his family, he was barely at home, so it always was her and his family. His wife was never happy with her stay not to mention her bewitched children. She had lived in torment at her uncle's place, that she began to wonder if she was Cinderella. "Definitely Cinderella isn't dark skinned, neither do I have a prince charming waiting for me" she thought. It became unbearable for her as they always reminded her of her dead parents. "I am an orphan but not a helpless one" she said to herself that night as she left the house without notice, she didn't care if they were going to burn her stuffs, not like she had any treasure. She left with just her dad's wristwatch and her mom's pendant which has never left her wrist nor neck since they died. It's been a year now, and she can't be more grateful that she left that house, it only pained her that her uncle whom she thought loved her, didn't make an effort to look for her.

She had vowed to see the end of the serial killer who put her in this condition.

"I knew the news of her death was fake, she has to die by my hands" she smiled standing in front of the station, as a car drove in. Kyle got down from the car and went in, she smiled staring at his back and went in after him.

"I want to see detective Kyle" she demanded to first officer she met who just passed her like she was invisible.

"I really don't wanna cause a scene here" she breathed out walking to the next officer.

"Detective Kyle, I want to see him" she requested.

"And you are?" The officer asked.

"Riley" she smiled, "he wouldn't know me by name, but tell him he has a visitor please" she said.

"Who did you say you're looking for again, ma'am" the officer asked.

"Kyle... Detective Kyle" she said trying her best to keep up with her smiles, "are they this dumb" she muttered to herself.

"What about?" Detective Spencer asked from behind.

"Excuse me" Riley asked.

"Why do you want to see Kyle" Spencer said.

"Is he the general or something? Do I need to answer all this?" Riley said loosing her patience but Spencer just stared at from head to toe.

"Detective Kyle!!!!!!!" She just yelled scaring Spencer.

"What's going on here?" Kyle rushed over and Riley smirked.

"Recognize me?" She asked.

"Am I supposed to? Who are..."

"You... It's you... The girl from the restaurant right" Kyle asked and she nodded.

"We need to talk, privately" she said and Kyle nodded.

"Follow me" he said and she winked at Spencer before leaving.

"She's crazy" Spencer sighed out.

"It's been two minutes young lady" Kyle said staring at her, "what exactly do you have to say to me" he asked.

"You're dreamy" she said slowly but he heard her.

"Pardon" he said wide-eyed.

"I mean look at you, I could kill for you" Riley smiled and Kyle stood up.

"Cheryl" Riley said and he stopped on his track.

"Who is she?" She asked.

"I thought you knew, that's why you mentioned the name" Kyle replied still standing.

"You mentioned her name that night" Riley said slowly sipping her latte.

" It just slipped" Kyle said.

"I met with her" Riley smiled and he took his seat immediately.

"You should meet with her" Riley said.

"Excuse me?" Kyle replied.

"I don't think she's the serial killer" Riley smiled.

"Did she put you up to this, little wonder she didn't kill you, obviously no one lives after an encounter with the serial killer" he hissed and left as she folded her fist in anger.
