The Loser Husband

"Agler...! Please wake up...!" Pooja screams in Agler's ears. Actually she had woken Agler well by gently patting Agler's arm and opening the window blinds, but the husband wouldn't wake up.

It was only after hearing Pooja's screams that Agler opened his eyes. "Honey, can't you wake me up in a romantic way like kissing my cheek? You often watch romantic dramas but you never learn from the dramas you watch. You know, I was dreaming of becoming a prince. But you ruined my dreams!" Agler actually scolded his wife.

"Can that dream give you money? Can that dream make your stomach full? How can I be romantic to you when you always annoy me every day. Get up quickly! You have to work today!" Pooja pulled her husband's hand into the bathroom.

"Pooja, my beloved wife. It's not that I don't want to work. You see I always try to apply for jobs every day, but no one wants to hire me."

Pooja did not respond to her husband's complaint. Instead, she turned on the shower and poured shampoo into Agler's hair. Pooja bathes her husband and she said, "I'm going to sign you up to work at Madam Jenny's laundry. She's looking for employees.”

"Are you sure she will accept me?"

"I will try to persuade her so she will recruit you. After all, she is my mother’s friend. I am also quite close to her.” Pooja threw the soap at Agler then she said, "Hurry up and finish your bath! We have to get going!"

Pooja comes out of that bathroom. Pooja starts getting ready and dressing up as she has to leave for work that morning too. Pooja is a math teacher at an elementary school.

After Agler finished bathing, Pooja told Agler to put on a neat shirt.

"Why do I have to wear a shirt like this? Aren't I just going to work at the laundry?".

"Appearance is important when applying for a job. Whatever your job, you must wear neat clothes because it shows that you value your work."

"Oh, my wife is very wise. You look so perfect. Beautiful, intelligent and wise. How lucky I am to have a wife like you." Agler kissed his wife's forehead.

"But I actually feel unlucky to have a husband like you!" Pooja replied.

"Hey! Don't talk like that. You know, God hates what you say!"

"Aahh, don't lecture me! Let's go now!"

They came out of the room. As they passed the dinner table, Dalton rebuked them. Dalton is Pooja's father. Then Dalton said, "Pooja, are you going to work? Let's have breakfast first!”

Pooja glanced at the dining table. There are Dalton, Diana, Ellena and Anthony were also at the dining table. Diana is her mother, Ellena is her older sister, and Anthony is Ellena's husband.

"I'm not hungry, Papa. So I'll just have breakfast at school," Pooja replied.

"Is that loser going to take you?" Diana asked Pooja while glancing at Agler sarcastically. Diana calls Agler a loser because Agler doesn't have a job.

"No, Agler won't drive me. But he's also going to work." Pooja replied.

"Has he got a job? I wonder, which company would hire a loser like him?" Ellena also gave a scathing comment.

"I just work at the Laundry. Pooja was sure that I will be accepted there because the owner of the laundry is my Mama-in-law’s friend." Agler answered Elena's question.

Pooja widened her eyes at Agler immediately. Even though she had tried to get Agler to wear a neat shirt so that her family would think that Agler worked for a big company. But the innocent Agler was telling the truth.

Everyone who was at the dining table i laughed at Agler's answer mmediately. "Just being a Laundry employee, it turns out. You shouldn't have to be arrogant if you just work at the Laundry." Anthony commented.

"You really embarrass me, Agler. Ah! How could I have a son-in-law like you!" Dalton also lashed out at Agler again.

Pooja was upset that her family always looked down on her husband. Therefore Pooja pulled Agler's hand to get out of the house immediately.

"Pooja, why did you refuse when your father offered us breakfast? Even though I was hungry too. Ah, you're annoying!" Agler said. He didn't look guilty.

"What? You're saying that I'm a annoying! Don't you realize that you're the most annoying person in the world, Agler? Why did you have to tell my family that you're going to work at the Laundry? Aren't you sick of being humiliated by them every day?"

Agler frowned. "Then, what kind of answer should I give? Aren't I going to work at the Laundry?"

Pooja clenched her fists, she was very annoyed with her husband. Pooja decides to stop the debate then she pulls Agler's hand towards Madam Jenny's Laundry.

"Good morning, Madam Jenny!" Pooja greets the owner of the Laundry.

"Good morning, Pooja! It's such a pleasure for you to come here. Do you want to wash your clothes?"

"Oh, no, madam. I saw the announcement that you were looking for an employee. Is that true?"

"Yeah, I need another three to five more employees because I'm growing my laundry business using the dry cleaning method."

"That's very good. Anywa, I brought my husband to you. Are you willing to recruit my husband?"

Madam Jenny glanced at Agler. "Has he worked at the Laundry before?"

"Hmm, not yet. But he always helps me to wash and iron the clothes. You see his shirt is so neat, it was he who ironed it by himself. Madam, please recruit my husband as your employee. I make sure you won't regret recruiting him!" Pooja gripped Madam Jenny's hand tightly.

Madam Jenny seemed to sigh. Actually she didn't want to accept employees who had no work experience, but because Pooja had begged her, Madam Jenny didn't want to refuse. "Fine. I'll accept him to working here, but he has to go on probation for a week."

"Thank you very much, Madam Jenny." Pooja immediately hugged her mother's friend then she approached Agler and said, "Congratulations on your new job. Don't embarrass me, OK?"

"Okay, honey. You don't have to worry about that. I'll make you proud of me!" Agler replied confidently.

After that, Pooja went to the school where she work immediately.

Three hours laters, Pooja’s cell phone rang.

"Hello! Who is there?"

"Pooja! I am Madam Jenny!"

"Oh, Madam Jenny. I was so surprised to get a call from you. What the hell are you calling me for?"

"Your husband has been causing trouble at my laundry. He's ruined my customer's expensive suit! You have to come here right away to take responsibility for all this!"

Pooja is wide-eyed at Madam Jenny's words. “Oh, I will see you soon. Please wait me there!” After that, She rushed to Madam Jenny's Laundry.

"Finally you came here too! Look what your husband has done! I told him that this expensive suit was washed using dry cleaning method. But he did wash it with water," Madam Jenny said while she showing Pooja a damaged coat.

"Oh, Madam Jenny. I'm really sorry for what my husband did. I believe he didn't mean to do that. I'll make sure he doesn't make such a mistake again!" Pooja apologized to Madam Jenny, while Agler who was standing next to her just bowed his head.

"Do you think I'll give him a second chance? Even I can't just forgive him. I'm going to fire him today. But before that, he has to pay compensation for the damage to this suit."

"Yes, I will definitely pay the compensation. How much do I have to pay, madam?"

"10,000 dollars," Madam Jenny answered.

"What? 10,000 dollars?" Pooja is wide-eyed hearing the nominal mentioned by Madam Jenny.

"Yes. Why? You don't want to pay for it?"

"Madam, I don't have that kind of money--"

"If you don't want to pay it then I will report your husband to the police!"

Pooja fell silent immediately. She glanced at Agler who was still lowering his head. Pooja wanted to scratch her husband's face.

"I don't have much time. Are you going to pay for it or-"

"Yes, madam. I'll pay for it. Wait a minute, I'll take the money first." Pooja went outside to get her money at the ATM, after which she came back with 10,000 dollars as Madam Jenny requested.

"Good. Now you can take your husband away! I don't need an employee like him! He will just destroy my business!" Madam Jenny said.

Pooja and Agler immediately leave Madam Jenny's Laundry. Pooja walks fast while Agler jogs behind her. "Dear! My beloved wife! Pooja!" Agler keeps calling for Pooja, but Pooja refuses to turn around.
