Chapter 4: Guard Of The Forbidden Land

I retorted to this beast, "I'm not here to make an enemy, I'm here to train myself!"

But now that I was in the Forbidden Land, it would happen. Someone will undoubtedly cross your path.

Getting rid of the plants that will ruin this region is my main objective. I don't know how long this land will remain undeveloped if it keeps emitting smoke. On that day, it will no longer exist.

It launched another attack, calling out "Liar!" as I pulled my blade from my pocket to defend myself against his spear.

He attempted to thrust his weapon into me, but it was clear that he was trembling.

"Shadow Trap"

I talked to myself.

He turned away from me after seeing a change in his shadow. I had the opportunity to move quickly at that point. But he sensed it right away. We then continued to trade in attacks.

(Tsing... Tsing... Tsing... Tsing)

Heard the resounding noise emanating from each of our weapons. However, when he realized I was casting the magic once more, he sprung into the air at once. Additionally, I ran forward and switched strikes once more.

The neighboring trees are also felled as a result of the energy we unleash.

I'm not sure if he was congratulating or making fun of me when he said, "You're good, kid." I don't care any longer, whatever it is.

I grinned and sprinted back to him, saying, "Of course, I'm from hell."

What occurred next surprised me. I was tossed far away after becoming trapped in the trap he set. As I felt the branches hitting my body and eventually landing on the open plain area, I grimaced and shut my eyes.

I grew out of my crouch gradually. I'm unsure of what to do. However, when was he able to put that power to use?

In the course of his attack? I believe that's it, yes.

I simply shook my head in disbelief.

Because of the length of time, I haven't fought with others, I don't know how to fight properly.

I just noticed, something seems wrong.

I looked up to see where my opponent was. It looked at me seriously but something seemed strange.

Is it in his power? But how did a demon have earth magic? As far as I've known, they only know how to use dark magic, even others' abilities. But not earth.

So he can't use it. I would still believe if he was half demon but he's not.

I identified the true offender by using my sense of sight. And in an instant, I realized who it might be. It is the root that is circling the tree from my right side.

I've just come to terms with the fact that in this region, he is my opponent and I am also their opponent. To overcome me, they must thus band together.

However, this man is worn out. Perhaps since we fought in the air for so long, we weren't aware of the passage of time.

After a few moments, he ambushed again. Meanwhile, I shortly thought of what I was going to do.

Before he could even approach my direction, I instantly used my ability to run rapidly.

'Acceleration!'

"You can't defeat me!" It screamed as I approached his direction. But I only got a demonic smile in return.

'Teleport'

Before he even arrived, I used my ability to teleport to his back and then kicked him down hard which caused him to fall with a strong impact, without having him react to it quickly.

Its neighboring trees were unable to help and survive the severe incident. There was also dark smoke right where it crashed.

I waited for several minutes in the air to see if another attack would come, even though in reality this was my chance to defeat the enemy for good. Something is preventing me from doing that.

So I waited but I didn't notice anyone standing up. That is another sign that I have defeated the enemy. Then I don't feel any energy coming from him anymore, I mean, it's quite weak.

"K-kill me..." He weakly commanded me when I reached his direction.

His old clothes are worn out. He also suffered many wounds on his face and body. He couldn't even open his eyes properly.

"Is that really what you want?"

"Y-yeah,"

"Tsk. I don't have the intention to kill someone. If you wanted to die, then just do it yourself."

He slowly sat up from where he lay. I could also hear his slight groans from him. He also took the spear that was in his left direction. He swallowed first before gently placing the spear blade in the exact position of his neck.

"You're going to do it?" I doubt.

"T-this is my destiny..." he said weakly but I could see his hesitation. He looked at his spear solemnly before turning back to me.

"But destiny doesn't choose you to die. When your life is taken away will you be happy?"

"Yes. I'm useless, not strong like you. I was rejected because I'm useless!"

"Have you ever practiced what you lack?" I asked again.

But I noticed how he could turn in another direction. He was even more speechless because of the word that came out of my mouth.

I was shaken by this man. I knew it! How will he become stronger if he does not train himself to prove to others that he is not a burden?

I know that even if you train if the opponent is strong, training is still pointless. But each person has his abilities. You know one day that will be the way to defeat them.

Even if it's weird, abnormal, or not. The important thing is to prove that you can do something.

"Then, why don't you come with me?" I offer. I even smiled widely to convince him.

However, when I open my eyes I noticed how the man stiffened in his seat. I mean, a demon.

"Eh? You don't want to?"

"N-no! No!" He quickly refused while waving his hands in front of me. "I-I like it! M-maybe people will just hurt you when they see that you're with someone like me!" It added in a worried voice.

"Not a problem. I can grant you your own physical body. For now, let's eliminate the poisonous flower!"

"Is that thing the one with only one petal but the middle is big? But it's normal," he quickly answered with a justification.

"Carelessness can kill you. Don't be complacent about things you think are normal," I looked around first. My eyes searched for something where we were until my vision stopped in my left direction. That part is quite far away but I can still see the big flower with only one petal. "Especially with that flower. It has many abilities. As is happening within this land. I won't explain because it's obvious from the state of this place." I added to what I said.

I would like to say what I know but I am too lazy to talk at length. Then he already knows what kind of problem the Forbidden Land is facing.

"I-I thought you were going to kill the inhabitants of the Forbidden Land," he still struggled to say what he wanted. His head bowed in front of me while still sitting on the ground.

"Yep! Yet I changed my mind. And also, it's prohibited for me to take someone's life. That's why I'm just kidding around! Let's go!"
