ANDREAS : THE HIDDEN MILLIONAIRE’S SON-IN-LAW

Tonight in the city of Las Vegas, the cold begins to creep into the bone marrow. Winter was starting to arrive and now the snow was falling all over the city.

A husband and wife stood stupidly in a magnificent house, in their hands holding a box clutched tightly.

“If that’s what you want then go. I will never consider myself a member of this family, you are just an adopted child that I adopted in an orphanage because I never had children before. Do you understand now?”

Cindy was about to answer, but Andreas immediately grabbed his wife’s arm gently. Continuing to argue and say unnecessary things was not Andreas’ habit.

“Let’s just go home, it’s useless for us to be here. Didn’t I warn you earlier? Your sincere good intentions are never considered by those who only judge people based on the amount of wealth.”

“If you already know, then why did you still dare to marry the daughter of the Bowie family? You’re just a scavenger, who dares to marry the daughter of the most successful businessman in the country. You really have no self-conscious!” Mondy screamed.

“Come with a rare painting from China, you certainly know the painting I mean, right? Real paintings, not fake ones and make sure you bring them to the dinner your mother is throwing sometime this weekend.”

Cindy was silent, Andreas was silent. It was the most unreasonable request in the world. Even buying two slices of bread for breakfast was difficult, let alone buying a rare painting that costs around ten million dollars. Of course that was impossible.

“Dad, what do you want from this poor, ignorant couple? They can’t afford a piece of bread for them to eat, let alone buying a painting that costs tens of millions of dollars. It seems only a miracle of the world would allow them to afford it, or if one of them would sell themselves.”

Suddenly those words made everyone there laugh out loud, thinking that Cindy and Andreas were really fun jokes.

Andreas’ jaw tightened, his hands clenched into tight fists. He really couldn’t stand the words of everyone who insulted him now.

“Okay,” said Andreas, who succeeded in making everyone there silent. “Okay, I will bring the painting that Mr. Bowie wants at the family dinner later.”

After saying that, Andreas immediately forced Cindy to rush out of the Bowie family’s house. The feeling of annoyance still enveloped Andreas’ heart so clearly.

“Andreas, let me go! What are you doing, Andreas? Why did you tell my family that we can afford to get that expensive painting as a gift? Don’t you know how much that painting is worth?”

“And don’t you think what our pride is worth?” said Andreas.

Cindy was silent, she rubbed her face roughly. “Andreas, we don’t have anything, we can’t even eat.”

“However, being insulted all the time isn’t a good thing, Cindy. Is it because we are poor that we will continue to be insulted?”

“So, what can we do to protect our self-esteem? There aren’t any, right?”

Andreas grabbed Cindy’s hand again.
