Chapter 5 - The wisest Master!

As usual, the sun rose from the east the next morning, reflecting through the glass window of his room. He stood before a mirror, admiring his new look. He wore a crisp black suit and trousers with a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes sparkling on his feet.

His name is Jin Hale.

He tugged on the edge of his suit and turned away from the mirror, heading out of the room. Two bodyguards who were standing with a pistol in a holster on their waist escorted him behind to the dining table.

Already, Axel had enlightened him about everything in the house.

Just as he settled in the dining room, seated on a leather chair before a circular glass table, maids dressed in sharp white shirts and black skirts, with an apron above the dressing, each carrying a tray containing different dishes, filed out on a queue.

One of them almost poured her food away. Jin took notice of her and kept quiet. He leaned back on the chair with a slight smile, his expression unreadable as he observed each of the maids.

Just as they laid the plates on the table, Axel came out, dressed in a wine colored suit as the burtlar of the Hale's family.

“Good morning master Jin..how.” Axel was greeting with light now when he noticed Jin was staring at the maids strangely. He raised his head and looked at the maid too to know what his master was actually looking at but he saw nothing.

Before he could get curious, Jin said.

“Who among you poisoned my food?” He asked calmly with a smooth voice.

“What!!!” Axel screamed, surprise flashing in his eyes. “Poison?!” He darted his eyes on the plates of food directing his look to the maids.

He looked at his master. “Master..none of them could have done that..I mean they're all trusted. They have been working here for the past 4 years! I trust them!” Axel said.

If eventually any of the food is poisoned, how did Jin know? Axel wondered, still in shock.

Jin stared at the same maid who almost poured her food to see her hands quivering. He smiled and stood up with big hands crossed behind his back.

“You poisoned my food, didn't you?” He asked with a Smile tugged on his lips.

 The maid was shocked. She wishes the ground would open up and swallow her because she actually poisoned the food but how his master knew about it was something that baffles him.

There is no CCTV camera in the building too, so how did he know!

The two bodyguards pulled out their pistol and pointed it at her, waiting for Master Jin to give them the order to shoot her dead.

Chloe, the maid, fell to her knees immediately because she knew Jin would kill her. “I’m sorry master...please forgive me..” She cried out with tears tickled from her eyes.

Jin observed her for some moment and exhaled.

“Take her away and dress her up. Henceforth, she’s my personal assistant.” He instructed and walked out, leaving the food untouched.

Axel wondered if he actually heard his master well. Did he just appoint the same maid who poisoned his food as his personal assistant!! He was shocked and confused.

Axel hurriedly met him along a hallway, moving at his pace.

“Master..you should have just ordered the maid to be killed. You didn't only spare her but you appointed her as your PA. You're giving her a free ticket to kill you quickly!” Axel said frantically, worried laced in his voice.

Jin halted and turned to him with his hands crossed behind as usual, his expression stoic. “Why do you think people say we should keep a friend close but keep an enemy closer?” He stared at him for an answer.

“So they can know the enemy's tactics and attack him first before he does.” He answered. 

Jin smiled curtly. “Wrong.” He said and dropped his hands.

“The idea is to bring the enemy closer, make him your friend and treat him kindly. He’ll be taken aback, brainwashed by your kindness and he'll open up to you even without asking. Simple.” Jin crossed his hand behind again.

Axel widened his eyes in surprise. “Wow..was that why you didn't bother to ask her why she poisoned the food?”

Jin nodded with a smile.

“I'll call you the wise master Jin henceforth.. you're the wisest Master!!” He said, still amazed by Jin's explanation.

Jin merely chuckled and said. “Get the helicopter ready. I'm going to the city.” He walked out.
