Chapter 10 : My Life On The Line

Silence*

Everyone's mouths remain shut as they listen to Leon answer. They understand precisely Leon's attention.

'he didn't want unwanted variables in the future.'

'my son is too smart for his own good.'

'ah this scary brother is too meticulous'

Those words ended up occurring in the mind of each of his family members. Leon knows too well that his family will be ended up thinking like that. And it was true. Though each of his family trying to put on a façade of calm face, Leon is still able to read their minds.

'it was actually written all over their face'

Leon sigh as he looks at each of his family members. But he didn't really care because he didn't have any intention to let go of the oath. He was prepared for everything as he walks to this dining hall. Even without his family's agreement, he will force his way thru.

"so... Father please ask Mir to bring your crest here only then I can proceed"

"huuu...alright I know I can't stop you..."

Duke Carl put down his cutlery that he hold tight just now, and quickly took a deep breath.

"Mir!!!!"

He shouted to call Mir and instantly this house head butler Mir open the door and greet him.

"Yes, milord this humble butler's Mir greet the Duke-"

"Mir...Bring my crest from the office quick!!!"

Duke Carl cut Mir's word off and urge him to bring the crest. Mir is stunned and looks at the Duke with blur expression. He seems not to understand the situation right now.

"wha-milord I-"

"don't question... just bring me that thing now!!!"

Although Mir was quite startled by Duke Carl's order, he still swiftly proceed with the command.

"I understand milord, I will be back"

Says him as he takes his leave to the office.

Sigh*

Duke Carl sigh as he picked up back his cutlery to continue his eating which delay because of everything that happen.

'I need to eat quickly before I lose appetite'

Thought Duke Carl as he quickens his eating pace. Both his wife and Luis watch him eating and also quicken their pace in eating. They realized that they also need to eat faster before the crest appear here.

'quick before the food is wasted.'

Thoughts both mother and son.

Leon watched his family anxiously eating their dinner. He then took a glance towards his left side where the chef and the maids standing. He could see how anxious and worried they all about everything that was about to happen.

But Leon was calm, he didn't show any slight anxiety with this current situation. His mind was clear. He didn't worry as he already prepares for this moment.

'I need to act accordingly... this is the road to be free... Let's do this Leon.. we can do this.'

As Leon has those thoughts,

clatter*

The sound of the fork and knife being put down on the plate could be heard. Everyone ended up glancing over the sound coming from. They could see Luis's hands wiping up his mouth elegantly before putting it back down.

"I'm sorry to say this brother....but.... what kind of situation is this?? why need the oath and....leaving??? what's the meaning of all of this???"

snort*

Hearing the words that are utter from Luis's mouth, Leon snorts quietly. He felt somewhat disbelief.

'he pretends not to know?? what a funny kid.'

Sighs Leon quietly. He then turn his head toward Luis as he replied back his questions.

"you will know the details during the oath... so... I don't think we should talk about this now... I don't want to repeat my words twice after all."

His lips carved a playful smile towards Luis who then sighs and looks away as he tried to throw away his guilty feeling about lying to his whole family. Their parents smile bitterly as they glance at each other in silence.

While that, there's the sound of someone opening the door could be heard behind Leon.

Someone walking in hurried as the door opened. All the people in the dining hall could see the head butler Mir was running towards the Duke while holding the crest without closing the door properly. As he was halfway near Luis -

"Stop!!!"

He halted his step as he heard the Duke tell him to stop and automatically his eye make eye contact with the Duke. His face at moment was clearly asking what is going on and the Duke then answered him like he understand his eye.

"give the crest to Leon... he wants it."

"......."

Blank. That's was Mir expression the moment he heard the answer from the Duke. He just felt like he can't grasp the reason behind the answer and so he is frowning.

He then turns his head towards Leon with an expression asking why the heck do you want this crest?? But Leon just looked at him with a slight smile and was suddenly be reminded of his full name.

'Mir Mulled...'

From what he remembers, Mir Mulled is the head butler of the Fronti household. This butler had been working here in this house for a very long time ago. So, Mir pretty much knows everything going around inside this mansion, that's including the changing relationship between Leon and this trio of families. The first time they saw each other in this world is at the Duke's office this afternoon, and the second time is now, But.

'we met on such weird occasions huh...'

Leon thought as he felt a bit sorry towards this butler for this absurd situation. Meanwhile, the Duke who is aware of how troubled this head butler look right now sighs* as he looks at him with a helpless expression. Mir couldn't help but frown after seeing the Duke's expression.

While that, Leon just keeps on glancing toward Mir and thinking of wanting the crest as fast as possible.

'he looks like he's eating something bad just now... haih.. just give me that crest already sir Mir...'.

The Duke then opens up his mouth to speak to Mir.

"it's for the oath. . so just give it to him now"

State the Duke nonchalantly while giving the order.

Gasp*

Mir who fortunately understood the reason finally nodded his head slightly as he say.

"yes milord"

He then walks toward Leon and gives him the crest carefully. He begins to remember what use of this crest that he had learned a long time ago.

'hah... noble crest... means ... it's for the oath... life on the line oath... aigoo'

Mir steps away from Leon who's already grabbing the crest with his hand. He's looking at Leon with a pitiful expression.

'hah..after all those cold wars..haih... I guess it's come to this now... poor young master Leon and..',

As he thought that, he turn his gaze towards Leon's family with a sad expression.

'poor this family too..'

While Mir had those kinds of thoughts, all of Leon's family members were looking at Leon with gloomy eyes.

They were actually afraid of the oath that Leon will make. Because they knew, Leon is not someone who come with empty words and if he want to do something, he will surely come out strong. And that's the very reason why they are afraid right now.

'i hope he's not making a complicated oath'

'please don't vow for us to become strangers son'

'brother please...'

All of their minds were messed up with many kinds of fearsome thoughts, while Leon who holding tight to the crest was looking at it with an expressionless face.

His mind is actually having the opposite reaction.

'hmmphh... finally... I got my hands on this...hohoho.. my free life is almost near.'

He who was laughing in his head was trying so hard to ensure that his face won't give away his thoughts or his excitement.

'if I grin, they will know how happy I am for this moment... fuhhh holds back my dear self... you can't give away your happiness.'

And hence, after a while, the oath finally begins with the witness increasing from four-person to five, including the head butler Mir.
