Hearing that, Caleb couldn’t hide the look of disbelief on his face. He couldn’t stop himself from asking, “You’re going to divorce me—the man who’s always loved you and done everything for you—just for this rich guy?!”

“You’re comparing yourself to Mr. Thompson, Caleb?!” Ava snapped. “Do you even realize that you’re not even worth the dirt under his nails?! Apologize to him now or I will go through with the divorce!”

Caleb was stunned, absolutely shattered by her words. Every dream he had of a happy future with Ava after his release crumbled in an instant—like a mirror smashed with a stone.

Honestly, he didn’t even know what to say anymore.

Just then, Ethan’s phone buzzed. He checked a message, and immediately, his face turned sour.

“The event has already started,” he told Ava. “Let’s go. Now.”

“B-but... what about your injury, Mr. Thompson?” Ava asked, sounding genuinely worried.

“It’s fine. Let’s just leave.”

Ava nodded in agreement.

As the two of them strode toward the front door, Ethan turned to Caleb with a hateful glare and said, “You got lucky today, Asshole. But don’t worry—I will come back and repay you tenfold for this insult.”

Ava, standing beside him, added sharply, “Don’t go anywhere, Caleb! I’ll be back after lunch, and then you’ll get what you deserve!”

Caleb didn’t say a word. He just stood there, silently overflowing with disappointment.

Then the two of them left in a sleek black Rolls-Royce.

After that, Caleb decided to visit the grave of Old Man Anderson. He needed to get all this off his chest, and besides… he had promised to visit right after his release.

Old Man Anderson was one of the inmates Caleb had met in prison. Everyone there thought he was a weirdo—he always went on about being the ruler of a hidden Dragon Clan, calling himself the Dragon King.

At first, Caleb thought he was insane too and considered keeping his distance like the others. But over time, he started feeling bad for the old guy. He was always alone, so Caleb eventually struck up a conversation with him.

Even though most of Anderson’s stories were completely ridiculous, Caleb listened anyway—if nothing else, they were entertaining. And besides, Ava never came to visit, so the distraction was welcome.

Every morning, Old Man Anderson practiced martial arts, and Caleb began mimicking his moves just to pass the time. Sometimes, Anderson would teach him ancient healing techniques and insisted Caleb was incredibly talented in that area.

Over the years, Caleb ended up mastering many martial arts and healing techniques. Eventually, he realized that Anderson might not have been making it all up after all. The man’s stories… were actually true.

On the day of Caleb’s release, Anderson had promised to take him to the Dragon Clan. He said Caleb’s talent made him worthy of being one of the leaders—maybe even his successor.

But three months before Caleb got out, Old Man Anderson passed away. He was buried in a public cemetery, and Caleb wasn’t allowed to attend the funeral due to prison restrictions. The only thing left of Anderson now was the dragon ring Caleb still wore on his finger.

Determined to keep his promise, Caleb left Ava’s house and made his way to the cemetery.

But he couldn’t stop replaying what had happened earlier in his head. Distracted, he unknowingly stepped into the street—right in front of a speeding car.

Luckily, the driver had fast reflexes and slammed the brakes just in time.

The man behind the wheel, who looked like a mountain with a scary face, rolled down the window and yelled furiously, “You got a death wish, moron?! Go jump off a cliff if you wanna die! Don’t drag us into it!”

From the passenger seat, a beautiful woman cut in, “Ignore him! We need to get to the hospital now! My grandfather’s life is more important than arguing with this guy!”

“Yes, Miss Amber,” the muscular man replied respectfully, glaring at Caleb like he wanted to rip him apart.

Feeling guilty, Caleb tried to apologize. It was his fault for not paying attention, so he didn’t even get mad when the man insulted him.

But then he glanced inside the car and saw the old man in the backseat—barely breathing. Caleb’s eyes widened as he said urgently, “It’s already too late! That man has advanced multiple sclerosis. If he doesn’t get emergency treatment in the next four minutes, he’s going to die!”

“What the hell did you just say, Punk?!” the muscular man shouted. “Get out of the way now before I run you over!”

Just as he was about to hit the gas, Amber stopped him and stepped out of the car. She turned to Caleb and asked, “You know what illness my grandfather has?”

“It’s multiple sclerosis,” Caleb answered without hesitation. “It’s a condition that affects the central nervous system—including the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Judging by his state, your grandfather’s already struggling to walk, has blurry vision, slurred speech, and trouble with bladder control. His condition is critical, and he has only four minutes left.”

Everything Caleb described was spot-on. He diagnosed her grandfather’s illness just by looking at him?

This guy had to be a top-tier doctor. Impressed and desperate, Amber asked, “Can you save my grandfather?”

Since Caleb had almost caused an accident, the least he could do was help. He replied, “Curing him completely would take time, but I can ease his symptoms enough to keep him stable until you get to the hospital.”

Amber’s face lit up. She replied gratefully, “If you can do that, Doctor, that would be more than enough.”

Caleb didn’t correct her when she called him “Doctor.” Even though he wasn’t one officially, it had always been his dream to open a clinic of his own after mastering those ancient healing techniques from Old Man Anderson. One day, he would become a real doctor.

He agreed and stepped forward toward the old man. But just as he did, the big guy blocked him and snapped, “Can we really trust this guy, Miss Amber?! He could just be some lunatic trying to take advantage of the situation.”

As soon as Caleb stepped outside the villa, his phone rang. It was Old Master Julius, asking him to come to the Knight Family residence to discuss their next move.Caleb didn’t bother hiding his intention to destroy the Thompson Family—not from someone like Julius Knight, the business genius of Fluxville. There was nothing worth hiding from a man like that. So, he agreed and made his way to the Knight residence. Now, inside Julius Knight’s private study—hidden in the eastern wing of the estate—the room was warm, filled with the scent of aged wood and ginseng tea. A massive map of Fluxville was spread out across a long black marble table, littered with pins, red strings, and tiny notes.Old Man Julius stood in front of the map, pointing toward the western district of the city. “This is the Thompson Family’s headquarters. Clean on the outside, but their pharmaceutical distribution... has cracks. They’re smuggling experimental drugs from overseas through a chain of illegal clinics.”Cale

Every head turned. The room fell into an instant hush. Ethan and Arnold were both stunned—they hadn’t invited him.Arnold stood up, voice filled with disbelief. “O-old Master Julius… what an honor. We didn’t expect you to be here.”Old Master Julius replied flatly, “I heard there was a party. Sounded interesting. But… I’m not fond of parties that exist just to humiliate others.”All eyes turned to Ethan. Julius slowly walked toward Caleb and stopped behind him.He looked at Ethan with a cold gaze. “Careful, Kid. You have no idea how deep the roots go… of someone you think is beneath you.”Ethan frowned, trying to stay composed. “I don’t understand, Old Master Julius…”Julius gave a faint smile. “Sometimes, a lion sleeps among sheep. Only a fool thinks it’s smart to kick it for fun.”He gave Caleb a pat on the shoulder, then turned and walked out, saying over his shoulder, “This party is boring. Not worth my time. Goodbye.”Logan followed behind Old Master Julius, glaring at Ethan cold

Hearing the conversation between the two men, Ava and Ethan could only sit there in stunned silence. They could barely keep up. The way these two powerful figures played with words was simply too deep.Meanwhile, Arnold leaned in, his voice dropping to a more personal tone. “Old Master Julius… let’s cut the pleasantries. You and I both know the pharmaceutical business isn’t just about healing. Sometimes… preventing too early kills the market.”Old Master Julius wasn’t surprised—he simply raised one eyebrow. “You’re starting to sound like a pharmacist… who prefers the disease to stay.”Arnold chuckled. “We don’t create the illness, Old Master Julius. We just… prolong the symptoms.”Julius’s expression turned serious. “And you think the Knight family is desperate enough to profit off pain?”Arnold stayed calm, placing a data tablet on the table and sliding it over. “Not desperate—smart. We’ve got distribution channels in lawless regions. Unlicensed generics, experimental compounds too ‘

At this point, Caleb pulled out his phone and called Amber. It didn’t take long for the call to connect. With a cheerful voice, Amber asked, “What’s up, Caleb? Do you need something?”“The Thompson family and my wife, Ava, want to meet with the Knight family to discuss a business partnership. I’d like you to accept their offer, Miss Amber. Of course, I want the biggest benefits to go to the Knight family—and make them completely dependent on you. One last thing: don’t let them know this was my idea,” Caleb said right away. After a brief silence on the other end of the line, Amber finally replied, “Alright, if that’s what you want, Caleb. My grandfather and I will handle it just the way you asked.”Hearing that, Caleb smiled with satisfaction and replied, “Thank you, Miss Amber.”Of course, Caleb wasn’t doing this to help Ava and Ethan. He wanted to trap them—make them unknowingly step into his game so that when the time came, he could crush them completely. This was the perfect first

Because Caleb had always seen Joshua like his own brother, of course he paid for all of Joshua’s education until he graduated. He even helped Joshua land a great job at a company. And yet this is how he was repaid?Caleb was so disappointed he felt like crying.Hearing what Caleb said, Joshua pulled his hand away with a disgusted look and snapped, “Screw that, Bastard! Sure, you helped me back then, but now that the Morales Family is on top, all of that means nothing to me! So tell me—how much did you spend on me? I’ll pay every cent back right now!”Ashley immediately cut in. There was no way she was going to let Caleb get all that money back! He didn’t deserve it.“No! Don’t give him a single cent, Joshua! He’s Ava’s husband—that means it was his duty to support us. You should’ve asked for more from him. For the last three years, all he’s given us is a bit of his savings and that old restaurant!”Watching Caleb get humiliated by the Morales Family, Ethan couldn’t hide his satisfied

Even if she couldn’t win Caleb’s heart today, she knew she had a good shot in the future. If she worked hard enough, it wasn’t impossible to make Caleb fall for her. She just needed patience and persistence. At that moment, Caleb’s phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Ava
