Caleb was shocked to hear that. He immediately said, "I am not the man who deserves you, Miss Amber. As you already know, I am just a criminal and unemployed. You will regret it if you are with me."

Honestly, Caleb wanted to reject Amber. Although he was very disappointed with Ava, it did not mean that there was a new space in his heart that could be filled by another woman.

However, rejecting Amber directly would be the same as humiliating and destroying Amber's self-esteem. After what Amber did to him, he couldn't possibly do that.

Therefore, he chose to humble himself to make Amber reconsider her decision. After all, he was not worthy of being with a great woman like Amber.

However, what Amber said next really stunned Caleb. Was Amber the stubborn type?

"So what if you're a criminal and unemployed? I don't care about your status and background. Since I'm interested in you, I want to have you."

Knowing that Amber wouldn't give up no matter how he tried, Caleb finally said, "Decide that later after you get to know me better, Miss Amber. For now, focus on your task."

Amber replied, "If that's what you say, then there's nothing I can do but follow it. Let me show you that I'm a much better woman than your wife and you'll finally decide to be with me!"

Of course, Amber didn't have to be smart to sense that Caleb didn't want her.

To reject a beautiful woman like her, especially since she was the only heir to the Knight Family, Amber realized more and more that Caleb was an attractive man. This made her desire to have Caleb grow bigger and bigger. She wanted to conquer Caleb.

Caleb on the other hand, did not give a reply until they finally arrived at a room on the second floor.

It was a special room for the distinguished guests; those who were the top seven families in Fluxville City.

Of course, the Thompson Family was not among them. The Thompson Family was only among the top fifty families in Fluxville City, so they were on the ground floor, sitting with the other guests.

At this point, Caleb decided to stand in front of the door, waiting there until the event ended. He felt unworthy of being in the same room as Amber.

However, Amber forced him to come in, so Caleb had no choice but to go inside.

Shortly after, the gavel sounded and the event began. However, instead of focusing on the event, Amber asked Caleb, "By the way, since you haven't found a job yet, how about you be my bodyguard, Caleb? Don't worry, I'll definitely give you a decent salary."

Caleb was silent for a moment, lost in thought, before finally agreeing.

Considering he was an ex-convict, it would be very difficult for him to find a job in Fluxville. Almost no companies would hire him. His only option was to start his own business. However, he didn't have the money for that since he had given it all to Ava.

So, becoming Amber's bodyguard was a good first step for him.

Amber on the other hand, was happy that Caleb accepted her offer without thinking much. This allowed her to spend more time with Caleb.

An hour later, the auction ended without Amber making a single bid. She was not interested in antiques, so she didn't want to spend much of her money on them.

The reason for her presence at the auction was merely a formality, as well as to show appreciation to the Clifton Family for inviting the Knight Family.

Afterwards, the top ten families in Fluxville City were asked to go up to the tenth floor, to attend a luncheon.

Once again, the Thompson Family is not on the list.

At this point, Caleb and Amber entered the tenth floor, where a large round table sat right in the middle of the room. On it were many sumptuous dishes, many of which Caleb had seen for the first time.

At the round table were the representatives of each of the top ten families in Fluxville City.

Seeing the arrival of the two, one of the members of the Clifton Family; Rauf Clifton, could not help but ask, “May I know who you are, Beautiful Lady?”

Amber immediately replied, “I am Amber Knight; the only granddaughter of Julius Knight.”

Hearing that, Rauf's face immediately brightened. He immediately said in a polite tone, "It is truly an honor to meet the mysterious lady of the Knight Family, whose face has never been seen in public. I am glad that you have decided to attend this event."

Seeing Amber for the first time, Rauf couldn't hide his expression of interest. He didn't expect Amber to be this beautiful and perfect. He wished he could have her.

Amber replied indifferently, "It's because my grandfather forced me. If it weren't for his request, I wouldn't be here."

Rauf smiled faintly. Just like the rumors, Amber was truly a cold woman.

Although Amber showed a rude and arrogant attitude, but instead of giving up, Rauf's desire to have Amber grew bigger and bigger.

However, that desire was immediately destroyed when a man who was sitting with his legs up on the table suddenly said to Amber, "I'm very interested in you, Beautiful Lady. How about we go on a date and spend the night together? I promise to give you an amazing experience!"

Speaking is Alton Mason, son of Liam Mason; the leader of The Wolf Fang.

The Wolf Fang is a mafia group that controls the underworld of Fluxville City and the surrounding major cities.

Of course, the influence of The Wolf Fang was far greater than the top ten families in Fluxville City, so when Alton spoke, no one dared to oppose him. They all lowered their heads in fear, knowing that this would be trouble, so they did not want to get involved in it.

Alton was clearly throwing a fire into a pool of gasoline.
