The scientist did not reply, instead choosing to focus on running the last three God Formula equations. The Gehennian Prince considered the silence as consent.

The two suns, Rusus and Afel, were both setting in opposite directions. The sky was red, as if bleeding from various wounds. "What do you wish to achieve from Aegis and God Formula?" Dagon posed with indifference.

Griffin sighed. He had asked himself the same question a thousand times and had the answer in very elaborate terms. But he doubted Dagon had the patience for a long philosophical discussion.

"I seek peace between the worlds. That is all."

"Peace between the worlds, huh?" the black rakshasa scoffed. "What a ridiculous idea! How would a puny human like you understand interplanetary and intergalactic politics?"

Griffin's eye twitched. He was a supersmart scientist. He drew the line at being called dumb. "I don't expect an ugly reptile brain creature like you to understand that either."

Dagon straightened. His pride was clearly hurt. It was time for battle.

The energies around the Gehennian warrior crackled. He raised an arm as if chopping wood and brought it down with force. The air before him seemed to split vertically as a wall of energy shot out towards Griffin. The ground furrowed and rifted as the surge advanced.

Griffin went into a stance, crossing his lower arms in an X in front of him. It was just an elemental attack. Aegis could handle it.

[Adamantine Shield: Activated!]

Boom! The energy wall collided with Griffin with a flash and dissipated. His feet skidded back a few inches with the impact.

[Attack Nullification: 99.1% ]

Griffin lowered his smoking arms and eyed Dagon. Elemental, magical, and physical attacks were ineffective against the adamantine armor. What he feared was the exotic sword his enemy wielded.

The Zweihander. It had been responsible for depleting most of his HP and MP—the God Killer.

"How long will you keep this up?" Dagon thundered. "Your answer about peace between worlds is pointless. You cannot even defend yourself against a single enemy like me. How can you bend the universe to your will? You're smart. Haven't you figured it out yet?"

"I have my plans and you have yours. Let us not bicker over philosophies."

Dagon shrugged. "Alright. I shall give you a quick and merciful death. If Aegis dies along with you, then so be it."

He pulled the legendary sword out of the ground. "Prepare to die, human. I have reached the end of my patience."

"Damn it!" Griffin cursed under his breath. Aegis was not likely to survive another hit from the Zweihander.

He checked his HUD.

[MP: 3473/99999]

[HP: 10201/99999]

[Loading Equations: 2/3….. 59%]

Griffin needed a little more time for the equations to finish loading. There was not enough mana left to generate an attack that would slow down a monster like Dagon. Only one recourse was left.

Escape.

It was not practically possible to outrun Dagon. However, Griffin possessed a god-like AI named Aegis. He could make impossible things happen. "Aegis, initiate Avian Mode. It is time to fly."

Ching! Cling! Clang! Metal plumes fanned out from behind Aegis with a wingspan of over ten feet. Griffin crouched, and debris around him stirred and shifted. Then he shot up into the sky like a cannon. The suit made him soar like an aircraft, but almost at Mach Speed.

[Elevation 100ft]

[Elevation 500ft]

As he zoomed upwards, Griffin looked down and saw the figure of Dagon getting smaller and smaller until the warrior was a speck in the dirt. What a relief! The madman wouldn't give up!

[Elevation 1000ft]

[Elevation 5000ft]

The HUD indicated that he had achieved MACH speed. His insides felt like they were on fire, but Aegis normalized everything.

[Optimizing Oxygen Levels]

[Optimizing Vital Organs]

[Elevation 11000ft]

Flub! Griffin breached the surface of the clouds and seamlessly came to a halt midair. The Aegis device hummed rhythmically. A sense of fulfillment washed over the scientist as he realized how incredible his invention was. Man and machine had become one, transcending God together.

Griffin hovered in the air, taking a visual scan of the panorama. The natural spectacle was enthralling. The sky above the clouds was a cerulean blue.

With the two suns, Rusus and Afel, setting on opposite sides, red haze reflected from Aegis' golden adamantine armor. Griffin looked like a mythical god watching over the world.

The ace scientist sighed. When he started working on Aegis, all he had dreamed of was universal peace. If the creator's powers could be tapped into, wars, hunger, and disease would end. Peace would be everlasting. He hadn't factored in a rebellious warrior prince hunting him down to steal his invention.

For the time being, Griffin had enough MP to stay in the sky for hours. He wouldn't have to worry about Dagon anymore. His equations would finish loading pretty soon. It was only a matter of time.

[Loading Equations: 3/3….. 7% ]

"Why didn't I think of this before?" the scientist asked himself, chuckling. "I was trying to escape Dagon horizontally, but all I had to do was go vertical. He is a mighty warrior, but has his limitations."

[Warning!] [Incoming Attack!] [Source and direction undetectable]

Something had triggered Aegis' warning system. But what could pose a danger to him above the clouds? Was it a weather calamity?

  • 69 Where is my Girlfriend?

Noah ran like the wind. There was only one thing on his mind. The love of his life, Eve. The nightmare about King Jorm taking her away haunted him all the time. What if the nightmare was a premonition for these events? What if another god class abducted her or, worse, killed her? Noah could not imagine where his mind would go if such a thing happened.Of course, he cared about other people, including his best friend, Piper, and his Trinity girls, Skylar and Alice. He also did not want Jack Chrysalis and Providence members to die. However, he'd be shattered if something were to happen to Eve.Noah passed by Bridge 2's exit but did not even pause to look into the passage. He soldiered on and, in a few minutes, reached Bridge 3. A small group of players was gathered there."Oh, thank God!" Noah said in relief. "You guys are alright! What happened?"Captain Edmund spoke up. "Crazy things happened, Lovelord. We encountered an entire army of dark elves. Along with them were a few overpowere

  • 68 Holly the Angel Assistant

"Why did you advise me to take this bridge alone?" Noah asked Holly as soon as he was out of earshot of the others. Holly was one of the five rewards he received for reaching Level 100. She was an A.I. Angel Assistant linked to him through the Trinity Network. [ ANGEL ASSISTANT ]A ball of light blinked over Noah's head. It gradually turned into a creature and unfurled like a cocoon of light. Holly emerged smiling. She was a miniature human shape with translucent wings. She looked like a tiny fairy from high fantasy books, Tinkerbell, to be exact. "Hi, Noah! Thanks for summoning me. I shall help you in your journey to becoming a god!" Noah raised an eyebrow. "Eh, we'll get to that later," he replied. "Tell me why you asked me to come by myself on this bridge. Do you know which of the three leads to where?" Indeed, it was Holly who gave the suggestion. Since she was his Angel Assistant, only Noah could hear her when she was invisible. The Ace had blindly followed her on a whim. "I

  • 67 Eve vs God

"Eve!" Alexa exclaimed. "Did Edmund get our call for help?""Where are the rest?" Piper asked, straining his eyes to see beyond the fog.Eve shook her head. "They have their own big fish to fry. The Commander is facing an army of dark elves, most likely led by another special class.""Oh," Skylar replied. "Then he should not have spared you. We could have handled this situation.""Oh really? The situation doesn't look handled."The girls giggled nervously. "Someone, give me a rundown."Blade spoke up. "What you see is a special class cavern demon called the Jokesmith. I think centuries of evolution have metamorphosed a mindless monster into a sentient god class. Its intelligence and raw power are off the charts, comparable to the Gandrgator King before evolution. Armors, shields, and magical attacks mean nothing to him in battle. Our last resort, the anti matter gun, barely gave him a burn. I don't know how we are going to fight this force of nature!"Eve nodded and tightened her gras

It had enormous eyes and a gnarled set of fangs that looked more like bristles than teeth. The creature stood straight like a human but had a hunch on its back which slightly tipped its torso forward. The Jokesmith’s uncanny face looked like it was grinning. It had no clothes on, but its skin was thick, striped in red and black. Blood and viscera dripped from around its humongous mouth. The entire look gave it the appearance of a nightmarish clown.“Do you like what you see?” the Jokesmith asked Piper. The cyborg’s teeth chattered, and he pissed his pants. The monster was exuding such a dark aura that everyone around him was terrified beyond imagination.Blade was more acquainted with horrifying monsters as compared to

Alexa walked briskly ahead of the others on the team. Her muscles were tense, and she spat every now and then in anger. Her fingers twitched, generating fire sparks."She looks like a ticking bomb. Shouldn't somebody go and talk to her?" Skylar suggested to the rest of the group."Let her be, kid." Blade offered, shaking his head. "I know her better than most. Alexa and I went to training together, you see? She was this popular, cheerful girl who fell in love with one of our batchmates, Dom Faust. They were like prom queen and king.""What does that have to do with her present mood?""You see… Alexa and Dom were posted to Goldibad after we graduated.""Oh? Were they teammates? Where is Dom now?"Blade sighed. "They ran a campaign against a hybrid space pirates gang called the MANEATERS. One of their double agents betrayed them. He had them walk into a trap laid by the pirates."Skylar raised her eyebrows. "What happened?""The entire squad was wip

  • 64 Bow to the King

"They are called 'the nameless four' among our enemies," Argulus introduced his Generals. "They are undefeated in battle. You will find my generals more powerful than my entire army combined."The four warrior dark elves cackled to endorse their King's words. They walked gradually forward, producing swords that looked like bones."That's a tall claim! Hope your warriors can handle our attacks!" Titan fired back."Your fancy swords will falter in front of the spines of my ancestors," Argulus called out.[ Incoming ][ Species: Dark Elf ][ Dark Elf General: Level 50 ]"What do we do, Commander?" Titan asked Edmund nervously. Even though adrenaline made him act fearless, he was anxious about the level 50 monsters."What other choice do we have?" Edmund replied. "We have to protect Elektra until she is ready." "I am down with that, sir!"The Commander turned to Alice. "If any attacks from their side are aimed at Elektra, it's your job to deflect them.""Understood, sir!"She had already
