Ch 3: Max

Emrys had been in Base 12 for more than twenty days. All he did was sign and lie flat. He never took the initiative to absorb Mystic Energy from the air and cultivate it.

One of the reasons was because he didn't have a Cultivation Method to actively absorb Mystic Energy from his surroundings, and the second reason was because he was too lazy to cultivate. Since he didn't have any talent for cultivation, he would rather spend day and night resting then make wasted efforts in cultivation.

But, he did try to find reasons as to why Base 12 was located atop a mountain.

What is the reason?

Unfortunately, there was nothing that could specify the matter.

Well, because he was recruited by Jace and came here after completeling all the procedures. He knew that the Silent Order Academy has a total of twelve bases, locating everywhere in Sector E.

As for the true Silent Order Academy, Emrys had no idea where it was located. According to Jace, there is no need for him to know much since he would not be able to leave Base 12 anyway.

Two days later...

The edge of Base 12 was surrounded by endless mist. There are faint tearing sounds and screams in the mist. Several young men in white robes looked flustered, and their bodies were in a terrible state.

"Instructor Max, what's going on? Is there a ghost here? Why has it suddenly become so terrible!"

A student asked tremblingly. His clothes were torn, and there were many bloodstains on his body. Obviously, he suffered no minor injuries.

"I don't know either. How come this broken place has become so dangerous!"

The said instructor, Max, was also panicked as he looked around.

Today, they came to the Base to reclaim something. While at it, Max wanted to train his students as well. After all, they don't get the opportunity to visit another base all the time.

They've heard that Base 12 is declining and that the Dean of Base 12 is about to die of old age soon. Moreover, there are no students in Base 12 due to a terrible incident that happened ten years ago. All students were equally divided and sent to other eleven bases.

The Principal of the Silent Order Academy wanted Jace to return to the academy as well, however, Jace refused for some unknown reason. He chose to stay in Base 12 till his last breath.

According to the Dean of their Base 8, Jace should have died by now. In other words, Base 12 should have no one to guard.

Although Base 12 is empty, it still has many facilities that its students can utilize to get stronger.

Thus, the Dean of Base 12 sent Max and a few talented students to reclaim those facilities.

Max was a Seventh-tier Lord. He was a well-known instructor in Base 8. As for other students, all of them were Grandmasters.

Unexpectedly, after they entered Base 12, they were trapped by a strange force. Moreover, there were many strange vines and light impacts around, which almost killed them several times.

If they didn't have many methods to escape dangers every time, they would have already died here at least ten times.

"Max, the attack is coming again. Let's run!" A student trembled and said.

Others reacted immediately. They turned, only to see several vines covered with thorns appearing not far away. The vines were rushing towards them at a rapid speed.

Max and others felt their scalps tingle. They were frightened. Now they no longer have any means of protection.

"Who are you!"

At this moment, a clear and cold voice sounded in the ears of several people. The surrounding vines also quickly dissipated, and the mist gradually dispersed.

Not far ahead, Max and others saw a giant beast and a handsome young man was sitting on the cat's back.

"This is! This is a Fifth Rank Beast!"

Max and others looked at the huge white beast in front of them, feeling a fear that penetrated their bones. They never thought that an empty Base 12 would have a Fifth Rank Beast. Luna's appearance completely sank their hearts to the bottom.

"This... This... This..."

Max tried to speak but he was so frightened that words seemed to have stuck in his mouth. He was tremblingly constantly and could not speak clearly.

Although he was a Lord Realm warrior, a beast naturally has stronger bodies. In the same realm, generally, beasts win the battle. Not to mention, the huge beast in front of them was clearly a peak Fifth-ranked Beast.

Max had no confidence in facing this beast and leaving this place alive.

"I asked who are you guys?"

Emrys asked coldly again.

After he was done speaking, a fierce burst of demonic power erupted from Luna's body. The intense demonic power brought along a mountainous pressure, directly pressuring them down to their knees.

"We.. we came from Base 8. We were ordered to reclaim a few facilities that should be useless now that Base 12 is... was empty and Dean Jace should be dead."

By the end of his sentence, Max slowed down a lot and lowered his volume.

It was only now he noticed the handsome young man sitting on top of the cat. But, he did not dare to ask anything.

He could sense an even stronger aura from the handsome young man's body.

Base 8?

Emrys frowned, and then waved his hand, saying: "Follow me!"

The Moon Spirit Cat started to walk towards the depth of Base 12.

"You are an Instructor of Base 8, and these are students?"

Emrys looked at the group before him, who had completely lost their will to fight, with a strange expression.

At this moment, Luna was obediently lying in Emrys's arms. It was like a harmless little cat. Compared to the giant Moon Spirit Cat just now, it seemed to be a completely different animal.

Max swallowed hard as his gaze towards Emrys filled with extreme terror and disbelief.

Max doesn't know who this person is, but since he is present here, it means he is likely from Base 12.

Could it be that Jace had recruited this person before his death?

How could that be?

But what if it is true?

What if this person is truly recruited by Dean Jace to stay in Base 12?
