Snarling as they charged, they seemed to get faster.
The monsters on the sides broke through first and began to slaughter the warriors.
Overrun, the monsters spilled into the ranks of the warriors, who were unable to hold any line of defense.
Shot towards the monsters and cut down those in his way with a sword he had made.
‘I need to cut their numbers down so they at least have a fighting chance!’
Lucien sought an opening to launch his attack, but as he got deeper with in the army. He began to realize the sheer number of their forces. He felt buried beneath them all he swung and slashed with his sword.
Roar!
“I take it you’re the monster tamer?” Lucien observed.“Indeed, I am,” the man replied.“What’s the purpose of all this anyway?”The man smiled, “You ‘ll have to beat it out of me If you want to know. However, I will say it is rather entertaining.”Lucien gritted his teeth together in anger, “Entertaining? Killing these innocent people is entertaining for you? I may end up killing you before I can here you other reason!”The man laughed, “Be my guest!”Lucien said it, but he knew that it would be a longshot with how exhausted he felt.
The group that had left while Lucien had held off the monster army by himself finally caught up to their families that had made their way towards the capital. Many looked hopefully around to see the faces of their loved ones. Few were relieved of worry as tears of joy fell from their eyes. However, most were heartbroken when they learned the news of the slaughter that had occurred. Some fell to their knees in tears, some held a blank expression as they began to walk towards the capital again, and others just felt extremely empty.“Hold on!” a woman hollered. “How were you all able to make it back alive? Did you kill them all?”The warriors that survived all looked at each other and nodded.
About a day later, Lucien arrived just outside the capital city’s gates.Lucien was extremely confused. He was expecting to walk in on a battle between the monster army and the capital’s forces.‘What the hell? It looks like nothing happened here. Where is that top hat?’Lucien sighed then walked inside the gates of the capital and took in the absolute beauty and complexity of the capital city. The city was so big it could have been a nation all to itself.Towering above everything in the middle of the city, was the Monarch’s castle that was ten times bigger and taller than any other building within the city.Lucien took it all in and then took a deep br
Lucien watched from afar as Kalin emerged around the corner of a dark hallway with two guards by his side.Kalin bowed then turned away and put his helmet on as he began to head for the double doors.Lucien couldn’t help but wonder what was down that hallway.“Excuse me…”Lucien jolted a little bit as he was caught off guard. He quickly turned around to see Roseline behind him.“I’m sorry to disturb you, but could I have your name?” the princess asked curiously.Lucien didn’t notice before, but she was wearing a beautiful purple and
“Who are you?” asked the same guard that had stopped Lucien during his first visit.Turning his attention to the guard, Lucien replied, “You’re Stanley, correct?” After saying this, Lucien noticed that Stanley was the only guard present at the moment.“Is that you Mr. Haze, sir?”“Indeed. Where’s the other guard?”“Oh, he’s in the castle for now taking a break. I’m thinking of taking one myself once he gets back,” Stanley explained. “Why do you ask?”“Just confirming something.”“Confirming something?”
Lucien gazed in surprise at the numerous cells holding prisoners that looked to be half-dead.The place contained an awful stench, the stench of death. It was very dark, the only source of light being the occasional oil lamp.‘Why’s there a dungeon here in the castle. They normally hold outlaws in the dungeons of the council buildings.’Lucien walked down the hallway, half expecting the prisoners to jump to the cell doors and start to beg. However, the most attention he received was the simple movement of their eyes as they followed him as he walked down the hallway. At the end of the hall, the hall split off to the left and to the right. Lucien decided to go left which lead him to even more cells.
…The North Battlefield…The front line quickly broken through as some monsters charged deep into the warriors’ formation.“Assassins!” the general yelled. The assassins, however, were quick on their feet and didn’t need the general to continue with what he was saying. They took action and began to cut down the monsters that broke through.“Reform that front line!”The archers continued to fire showers and showers of arrows, but the monsters didn’t seem to care and continued to charge forward recklessly.“YEAH!&rdq
Cletus pulled out his daggers and stood cockily waiting for Lucien to approach.“What are you waiting for?” Cletus asked as a massive grin broke out on his face.Lucien looked at Kalin’s body one last time.“Just making sure I don’t have another interruption.”Cletus glanced at Kalin’s body as well, “You’re right, should I finish the job, just to make sure…”Clang!Lucien shot forward and threw his fist at Cletus’s face.Cletus flew back and skidded to a stop on his feet.
