Chapter 9

“Young man, you can go home now. Make sure to be present tomorrow morning before 8 am, I don’t have to remind you of what is going to happen if you don’t come here at that time,” Lloyd frowned before expressing himself.

“Yes, Master, I know I would lose my job if I don’t show up early.” Mark was fast in bowing while admitting.

“Good,” After the middle-aged man mentioned, Mark took his leave. He had other pressing things to do, things like returning back to the Toyota shop and witnessing Dave try to cheat.

From Lloyd’s house to the boutique was a twenty-minute walk, but he rather took a taxi as he wanted to arrive quickly. Unfortunately for him, when he arrived, Dave was nowhere to be found, neither was his Range Rover parked in the corner. He assumed that the dude took his leave.

“Humm,” Mark’s shoulders dropped as he held his phone in his hands, with no way for him to take out pics. Maybe getting some pics and wiring them to Hailey was gonna change the way she felt about him.

“Common, Mark, you have a lot to do, today. Why don’t you get to supermarket and get some stuff for your apartment? That on the contrary is going to help you.” He tucked his hands in his pocket before admitting.

He made a U-turn as the street of the supermarket was on the other side of the road. He was so stressed up that he failed to remark Dave’s black sport car stationed at the entrance of the supermarket.

The guy was quietly picking out products and putting them in his tray when a couple stood before him. Although he didn’t raise his head to look at them, he could tell the scent of the female perfume belonged to Hailey.

“Humm, I see you are bent on following my fiancé and I. Don’t you have a life? Is it difficult for you to accept our seperation?” She stood before him, placing her hand on her waist before vigorously questioning.

“And why would I follow you two? Do you think I have nothing to do?” His reply came in, followed by a loud smirk.

“Common Mark, cut the crap and accept for once that you aren’t over me. I know you still want us to be a thing, but there’s no way because I’m not your type.”

“But don’t you bother, I’m gonna invite you for our marriage,” Dave chirped in, keeping a smiling face.

“Yeah, I see that getting to the Toyota boutique for the sales lady is going to give you lots of inspiration for your wedding.” Mark said, causing the smile on Dave’s lips to vanish away.

“Honey, what Toyota boutique is he taking about? Are you planning on getting a new car?” She stared at Dave before questioning. It’s quite frustrating how she didn’t get what Mark was trying to point out.

“Humm, this was supposed to be a surprise, darling. Their agency brought in the latest Sports car and I was trying to get one for you on your birthday. I blame him for spoiling the show, I really wanted this to be a surpris. He has spoiled my intentions.” He lamented, calling for Hailey’s sympathy.

“Oh, darling, don’t worry, he didn’t spoil anything,” She stressed out, seeing a tear almost drizzle down her fiancé’s eye.

“Wait for me here, I’ll be right back with a wipe,” After mentioning, she left for the section of tissues since hers were finished.

It was now Mark against the almighty Dave. There was no point for him pretending any longer since Hailey had left the place.

“What the heck were you trying to do? Wanna tarnish my reputation, huh you piece of rag?”

“If only you knew who I am, then you will bow before me and call me master of all,” Mark admitted, keeping a straight face.

“Hahaha,” Dave burst out into laugh, “I see that the divorce dealt severely with your sanity. It’s onot a mad person who eoukd stand before me and talk trash. Do you know my family own a part of all the Blue and rain hotels across the world, I don’t need to remind you of our other infrastructures,”

“We have created a name in the city, a name which is yet to be forgotten. Tell me, who is the master of all?”

“That’s what you made her belief? That your parents have a say in the Blues?” Mark questioned,

“Who doesn’t knows that in the city?” Dave mocked,

“You keep lying to everyone, but you can’t get me with that. Just one family own the Blue and Rain hotels, and it’s far from been your family. But don’t bother, your secret is safe with me.” He tapped his shoulder and made his way out.

While Mark made his way out, Dave’s eyes kept on wondering till there was no longer a glimpse of him. The fact Mark knew about his family was aching. This a story he had told everyone, his father being amongst the owners of the Blue and Rain hotel.

“Honey, can you tell me more about this Mark? Aside from being your ex, you’ve never really told me where you two met.” Once they arrived her apartment, Dave didn’t hesitate to ask. Throughout their journey, his words came back to his mind.

“Wow,” Hailey took a deep breathe, before admitting beneath her lips, “Where’s this question coming from?”

“Until date, you’ve never wanted us to talk about Mark, you claimed he was in the past, and now you are the first person requesting to know more about him?” She snapped,

“Yes, darling. I just realized that I haven’t taken time to know you and your past. I believe Mark is part of your past and so why don’t you tell me something about him?” He insisted.

“Okay,” Left with no choice, she parted her lips and commence with the story,

“Well, I came into contact with Mark one evening after he batched a friend’s car. I wasn’t really into the incident but I later found him under a tree in the heavy rain.”

“I felt the need to help him as it was heavily raining on him. I took him in, and…” Dave interrupted her since he had a particular question.

“Are you trying to say that you got married to a man you knew nothing about?” He halted before questioning, “How did you even fall for such thing?”

“Listen, it wasn’t my fault okay, he is a handsome guy, and any lady would want him in her life.” That was the only thing she found to defend herself.

“I see,” He stood up from his chair and made some moves, keeping his hands in his pocket, “Have you ever thought of him been a spy? He could be sent by the famous rich men to control your family.” After carefully analyzing, he spat out.

“Hahaha,” Hailey’s twisted face, migrated to a smirk.
