5. Their Plan Against Him!

Tyler immediately let go of Gloria’s hands the moment he saw Perry. Pretending as if he hadn’t heard anything about the amulet, he turned back to packing his clothes.

Gloria forced a sweet smile on her face and slowly approached Perry, trying to appear friendly.

“You don't have to worry about this, Mr. Winter. I have a—”

Perry didn’t even look at her. He brushed past and headed straight to Tyler.

She blinked in surprise but remained where she was, watching closely as Perry grabbed Tyler's hand and lifted it, his voice low and cold.

“Where on earth did you get that amulet, Tyler? That’s not something someone like you should be wearing. Do you even know what that is?”

Tyler stared into his eyes, bold and steady.

“I don’t owe you any explanation, Perry.”

Perry was about to raise his voice again when he remembered Gloria was still in the room. He quickly turned to her, his tone softening.

“Mother, please, can you get me a cup of tea? I’ll join you in the lounge shortly.”

“Okay, my dear,” Gloria responded cheerfully.

She turned and left, clearly happy that he called her 'mother.'

As soon as she was gone, Tyler returned to his suitcase, but Perry yanked his collar and slammed him against the wall.

“Don’t act tough, Tyler. Just hand over the amulet. I don’t care how you got it. It doesn’t belong to people like you!”

Tyler clenched his jaw and grabbed Perry’s collar too. His eyes flamed with rage as his mind drifted back to that unforgettable night. A night from eight years ago...

He had been nothing but a street boy back then, lying on the cold floor and trying to survive. That night, he had a strange dream. A mysterious old man appeared before him, dressed in rags but with a calm presence. The man bowed deeply.

“My Lord,” he said.

Tyler, confused, asked why he was alone on the street. The old man smiled and opened his palm, revealing a soft, glowing light.

“This light is you, My Lord. You are Lord Tyler. Soon, you will understand all your hidden powers. But until your memory returns, you must keep this.”

He tied a red, worn-out amulet around Tyler’s wrist.

“But what is this? Why are you tying it on me?” young Tyler had asked.

The man gave a dry laugh.

“This amulet will help give you strength. It will protect you until your memory returns. Keep it safe and never let anyone take it from you. Losing it is like giving up your power all over again.”

As the man turned to leave, Tyler called out one more time.

“But can’t you tell me who I really am? How I lost my memory?”

“You are Lord Tyler. That is all I can say tonight. Keep the amulet safe, and one day, you will know the rest.”

Tyler snapped out of the memory when Perry's harsh voice hit his ears again.

“Are you suddenly hallucinating just because I asked for the amulet? Stop dreaming, Tyler, and give it to me.”

Tyler shook his head slowly, his voice low but firm.

“You already took so much from me, Perry. My love. My wife. My integrity. I won’t let you take this one last thing from me.”

Perry narrowed his eyes and shoved Tyler harder against the wall, his hand still gripping his collar.

“You think you can stop me?” he growled, raising a fist.

But Tyler acted fast. He caught Perry’s wrist mid-air and gripped it tightly. Perry tried to pull away, but Tyler’s grip didn’t budge.

He threw a punch at Tyler’s stomach, and it landed, but Tyler didn’t let go. The pain shot through him, but he clenched his teeth and held on.

Seeing that Tyler was still gripping him tightly, Perry let out a frustrated growl and slammed his knee into Tyler’s side. Once. Twice.

But Tyler didn’t groan. Even though the pain shot through his ribs like fire, he kept holding on, jaw clenched and eyes burning.

“Give me the damn amulet, you son of a—”

Before Perry could finish, Tyler’s hand shot up to his throat. He grabbed Perry by the neck and with a fierce twist of his body, slammed him against the wall.

Perry’s back smacked the wall hard. He grunted, disoriented, but Tyler wasn’t done.

With one swift elbow, Tyler struck him across the face. Perry’s head jerked sideways. Then came a brutal punch to his jaw.

Before Tyler could land the third blow, a voice rang out from behind, sharp and urgent.

“Becca is in the hospital, Perry! She’s in critical condition!”

Tyler’s arm froze in the air. He slowly turned, breath still heavy, pain twisting in his side.

His eyes locked on Gloria, and his voice came out sharp and full of worry.

“What did you say happened to Becca?!”

But Gloria ignored him. Her eyes were fixed on Perry instead.

“Mr. Winter, please! We have to get to the hospital. She might die!”

The anger on Perry’s face melted instantly, replaced with shock and panic.

“What do you mean something happened to Becca? What hospital is she in?”

Gloria looked like she could barely speak. Her voice trembled.

“She collapsed while driving. Thank God she didn’t crash, but the doctor says we need a great person urgently!”

Perry didn’t waste another second. He rushed out, heart pounding, desperate not to lose her.

Tyler turned to follow, but before he could take a step, Gloria grabbed him by the collar and pulled him back hard.

“And where on earth do you think you’re going?” she snapped, voice full of venom. “My daughter doesn’t need people like you near her. You were already packing, weren’t you? Then finish it and get the hell out of my house!”

Tyler stared at her but didn’t say a word. He stood there, breathing hard, letting her storm out.

The moment she left, he grabbed his jacket and left.

At the Hospital…

When he arrived, he spotted Gloria and Perry already talking to the doctor near the hallway. He walked closer, trying to catch their words.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Winter,” the doctor said gravely, “but this situation is beyond our control.”

Perry looked alarmed. “Can’t it be cured?”

“Well… yes. If we can get a donor.”

Tyler stepped in closer. Gloria turned to the doctor, panicking.

“A donor?” she asked, fanning herself with her trembling palm.

“Yes, Mrs. Cruz. Your daughter is suffering from kidney failure. One kidney is already damaged, and the other is barely functioning. Only about 60% of it is working. She cannot survive on that for long. She either manages to live with one healthy kidney or finds someone willing to donate.”

The doctor shook his head slowly. “Unfortunately, kidney donors are extremely difficult to find these days.”

Perry stepped away from them, overwhelmed. His mind raced as thoughts bombarded him from all sides. Becca… his Becca… could die?

Gloria rushed to him, tears in her eyes.

“What are we going to do, Mr. Winter? I don’t want my daughter to die! I can’t watch her go like this!”

“She’s too young,” she sobbed. “Where are we going to get a donor from?”

Perry’s head lifted suddenly. His eyes found Tyler standing just a few steps away.

A slow, calculating grin spread across his lips.

“I’ve found a donor for Becca,” he said.

Gloria gasped, wiping her tears. “You… you found someone? Who?!”

Perry pointed a steady finger toward Tyler.

“Your useless son-in-law, Tyler. He’ll donate his kidney to Becca and save her life.”

The rewards were often life-changing.People usually begged for those documents. They fought for them. Some even lied to get the credit. But today… for the first time in his career, someone had flat-out refused. And that person was poor. That was why he’d called Tyler “broke and proud.” But Tyler had thrown it back at him with one line:“I may be poor, but I am never POOR.”It didn’t make sense to him. It messed with his head. Before he could even open his mouth to ask what it meant, Tyler stepped forward, patted the doctor lightly on the back, and gave him a calm smile.“You won’t understand, Doctor,” he said. “Because there ar

I’ll be there in a minute.”“Yes, Sir!” the young man said sharply, standing upright. “Permission to leave, Sir!”“Permission granted,” Diego responded, returning the salute with authority. The soldier turned smartly and left. Diego watched him go, exhaling quietly through his nose. The moment the footsteps faded, Perry’s voice came through the phone.“What was that about? Who was that?”“It was a lieutenant,” Diego said, his tone low but controlled. “He came to inform me that the team has already tracked down the location of the phone.
