REBORN AS A HYBRID

THE DREAM IS CLEARER

John never knew when he had fallen asleep on his bed with the window of his room left open.

His mother stepped in to offer him supper, made of fried fish and bread, but when she saw him sleeping peacefully, she never wanted to disturb his sleep.

So she placed the food on the little table beside his bed and closed the window in order to prevent mosquitoes and other dangers at night.

She kissed his forehead, then she smiled and said " Good night my wishing star, sweet dreams."

After saying this, she pulled the blanket over his body, then she left the room.

John saw himself in a strange house, it never had the modern look in it, but instead it had the old fashioned design. He was holding a strange kettle in his hand and the same red crystal was on his neck.

Then he heard noises outside. It sounded like a battle was going on. Then he saw a woman running towards him, she hugged him and said "Cassian! Don't worry my son, everything will be okay."

John could feel the pain in the woman's voice like there was a deep connection between them and coming from the fact that she called him her son, it meant she was his mother. He felt so safe in her arms.

After hugging him for some time she took him to a hiding spot, then she said." No matter what, don't leave this place okay, I will be back. Everything will be alright." She said this and left.

John looked through a small hole from his hiding spot and he saw a man flying in and he crashed in the house. " Nooo," his mother shouted. " What have you done?" She asked a group of vampires and wolves that stepped in the house, carrying magic fused weapons.

Then she looked down at her husband and saw a deep wound in his chest. She looked in his eyes as he took his last breath.

" Am sorry my princess, you committed a sin punishable by death and we must follow orders." One of the attackers said.

At that moment she became totally crazy and suddenly her body transformed into a humanoid wolf.

" You will regret this." She charged at them with the intent to kill, but the attackers did not look at all afraid.

Before she could reach the attackers, a lady stepped in front and lashed out a whip. It wrapped around the body of the humanoid wolf.

Then the next second, the whip became electrified and the humanoid wolf was brought to its knees because of the pain from the shock.

John could hardly bear the pain watching the woman who became his new mum suffer.

His new mum started pulling the whip and the attacker kept drawing closer to her. They were surprised to see that her will power was so great.

When the attacker was close enough, she clawed her face leaving behind three giant scratch marks on her jaw.

The attacker was forced to leave the whip and the electrocution stopped. But the werewolf was too weak so it collapsed and reverted back to its human form.

The hunters stepped forward to finish the job, then they stabbed her.

Next, a man transformed his nose into that of a werewolf and sniffed the air.

" The boy is somewhere around, searching for him."

The group spread out in search for John who was also called Cassian, with hunger in their eyes.

It was difficult to find him because he had a different scent as compared to vampires and wolves, all because he was a hybrid breed of the two.

Cassian sat in his hiding spot shedding tears, while holding his kettle. A tear dropped on the kettle and something strange started happening.

A little light left the mouth of the kettle, then it started growing bigger. When it was a certain size, it stopped and formed a blue man.

John, with fear in his eyes, whispered " Who are you?"

" I am a genie. Your tears attracted me and I appeared to help you. Anyone in pain must always have a wish, so I will grant you the opportunity to make one wish." Said the genie.

" You mean anything I wish for you to fulfill it for me?" Asked Cassian.

" Yes," The genie replied.

" The reason I was crying is because I watched my parents being killed. So the only thing I can wish for is that they should be alive." Said Cassian.

" I am sorry I cannot do two things even as a genie. These two things are beyond my power; traveling back in time and raising the dead.

But however, with the right circumstances, I can make a person to be reborn."

When the genie said this, all the little hope left in Cassian, of him getting his parents back had gotten lost.

" He is here."

A voice shouted from outside Cassian's hiding spot.

Cassian knew his time would soon be up, so he looked into the eyes of the genie and said " I know what I want."

" Go ahead and wish for it."

" If I die today, I wish to be reborn so that I can seek revenge for my parent's death."

The genie disappeared when Cassian's hiding spot was uncovered. Cassian tried to fight back but the attacker looked in his eyes and said.

" You are a curse and even in your next life you will remain a curse. See you in hell."

The attacker stabbed Cassian and his vision started blurring.

' Keep your promise'

' I will '

The genie's voice replied in his head.

John woke from his dream sweating all over his body.

'What a strange dream, it felt so real.'

He thought to himself.

He opened the window and looked outside and saw that the sun was already high in the sky.

'Oh no I must have slept off for too long. Now I'm late for school.'

John saw the food his mother had left him and he took a few bites.

John checked his phone and saw that his employer had called him several times and left behind different messages.

( Hey John, how are you? I saw the shop open, can you explain this to me?)

( Hey John you still haven't replied, are you okay?)

( Do you still want the job? Tell me what is going on.)

( Won't you reply to me? You are ignoring my calls huh?)

( YOUR FIRED).

' Damnit! I never needed the job anyways and besides I can't go back there when those hunters are on the hunt for me. Now I will have to look for a new job.' John thought to himself.

He stepped out and greeted his parents.

" Hey mum, hey dad, good morning." He said.

" Hey John, that was the Longest sleep you've ever had, is everything okay buddy?" his father asked.

" Yes dad is fine , don't worry." John replied.

John's mum held his cheeks and said.

"I don't know what you are going through but whatever it is, just know that I am here for you, and you can tell me what it is when you are ready, okay?"

" Yes mum," John replied and said his goodbyes before leaving for school.
