A HEARTFELT CONVERSATION

Her father let out an emphatic sigh when he heard that. He heard his heart miss a beat. From the look of things, it looked very much like they were still going to do a lot of things before getting her grandfather back, and if the worst went to the worst, he was going to have to apply violent means.

But he was against the idea before it even sprang up to life. He knew how bad things could turn out later, and didn't even consider the option. The things that were going on right now had taught him a lot even though he wasn't involved in any of it. And even if he considered it, he knew how lucky Cage was and knew he would in one way or the other get out of it.

Moreover, he didn't want to hurt his daughter. So he just let the thought slide, but not without gritting his teeth and waiting for a while before speaking into the phone. He knew now that Cage was a jinx, and it would take a whole damn lot before they could break him and make him do what they wanted.
