Benjamin looked at her, he held a bottle of water and behind him was the family butler, Nick. On recognising the voice, she stared at him, her lips quivering. She blinked her eyelid twice to be sure.

Benjamin kept a mild expression. He extended his hand to help her up, “I thought you had gone.” She muttered.

“Oh! I was about to leave when I saw you. Is everything okay?” Ariana accepted his offer, and slowly, she got to her feet.

For a moment, she tried to control her breath, her eyes darting from Benjamin to the bottle of water.

“I am sorry, I was just thirsty and needed to wet my throat. I can have it replaced if you want.” He said flatly.

Ariana shook her head, “It’s fine,” she sighed, “I need your help. Can you really help my grandfather? I don’t mean to be rude.”

Benjamin sighed, “You have doubts, I can see it, but you need to trust me if you want my help.”

“I am sorry for the way my sister treated you. Can you please follow me?” She paused. “You were right, my grandfather is in a critical condition. The doctor’s treatments quickened my grandpa’s condition and I really need your help to save my grandfather. If you refuse, I understand but try to help me.”

There was a moment of silence between them, as Benjamin observed her silently for a moment.

Would he help her?

Without waiting a minute, he began to walk towards the room. “Come on, we have a life to save.”

Ariana took a deep breath; she stared at the butler, who tilted his head. She walked fast joining Benjamin.

Meanwhile, Lucy and the doctor were exchanging words when the door swung open, with Benjamin, Ariana and the butler walking inside. There was an awkward silence between them.

“I want the room cleared, “ he commanded.

Ariana looked at her sister and the doctor, they weren’t supposed to take orders from an outsider and not someone like Benjamin.

“You heard him, “ Ariana said firmly as she crossed her arms.

Lucy glared at Ariana, and there was no exception. Benjamin was there to save their grandfather. The employees left the room, but Lucy and Dr. Andrew were left to stay in the room.

Benjamin wanted the doctor and Lucy to stay so they could witness his magic.

Dr. Andrew wasn’t happy with Benjamin’s presence. He dislikes the young man the moment he sets his eyes on him.

“I need a pair of scissors and a bowl,” Benjamin demanded.

Without hesitation, the butler got them; Benjamin took the scissors and cut through the clothes of elder Maxwell.

“What are you doing to him?” Lucy asked in disdain.

Why not send her out so he could focus on the treatment? What was Benjamin planning?

“I am trying to heal your grandfather; if you don’t keep shut, you might as well be asked to leave the room.” His voice was sharp and firm.

Lucy frowned; her jaw tightened.

“He has my permission.” Ariana stepped up as the eldest granddaughter even if she was fifteen minutes older than her sister Lucy.

Lucy’s cold gaze shifted to Dr. Andrew. She cursed under her breath. He wouldn’t have been here if the doctor had done what was necessary.

Damn!

Benjamin turned to Lucy, “You should be more focused on your health; you haven’t seen your monthly flow for two months.” He paused, “You are not pregnant, what you are experiencing is due to irregular cycles. A hormonal imbalance perhaps.”

Lucy’s face turned red, her eyes shone in disbelief, “How did he know?” she thought. She hadn’t told anyone about it not even her twin sister, Ariana.

“Was he real or was he just lucky about his guess?” She thought

Her mind was reeling in shock, and Lucy maintained a downward gaze in embarrassment.

Did he just shut her up? But how did he know?

Benjamin turned to elder Maxwell; he placed his hand on his warm chest. Then, shut his eyes closed. What he saw was entirely different from what he heard.

He saw a dark energy flowing through Elder Maxwell’s veins. It had flowed to his heart and slowly taken over the old man’s body. If not treated the old man might not last a day.

“Your grandfather was poisoned,” Benjamin announced.

“Poisoned? How and why would someone poison him? He is a jovial and respectful man.” Ariana said in shock.

“The heart of men is evil.”

Dr. Andrew shook his head and stepped forward. ”You are mistaken; I tested his blood for all kinds of common substances like poison. His report was clean.”

“There are things an ordinary man wouldn’t be able to see,” Benjamin countered, “the poison doesn’t appear in a toxicology report. There are things more spiritual than you can ever imagine.”

Ariana and the butler exchanged glances; they were surprised to hear Benjamin’s words.

“How was he poisoned?” Their minds raced through several thoughts. While Lucy’s mind was engulfed in her own wonderland. She hadn’t uttered a word since Benjamin exposed her.

“Help us, save him.”

Benjamin nodded thoughtfully; he stared at the butler, who grasped his expression. Early while he was in the kitchen, he knew Elder Maxwell wouldn’t last a day; when the butler came asking for help, he instructed the butler on what to get if he wanted his master to be saved.

The butler walked out of the room and came back with a small bag. “Thank you,” Benjamin replied.

Ariana was lost; she demanded an explanation, and the butler told her everything. Her mind dropped a bit.

He squeezed the canscora leaf with his palms, then rubbed it around Elder Maxwell’s upper body. He took the shining needles, placing each at the expected point.

Ariana and the rest watched Benjamin; they were left in shock.

“How is he doing it?” Dr. Andrew thought.

A few minutes later, he took the bowl and washed the remaining canscora leaves. Then squeezed it into his mouth, making sure he had taken the right quantity. After which he took off his necklace and placed it on the old man’s chest. Blood was pooling out from the spot where he had placed the needles.

Benjamin gathered the energy from his finger, and then dug into the old man’s chest; their eyes widened in disbelief as the finger entered without their grandfather sustaining any injury.

He absorbed all of it into his necklace, and with that, he removed his hand, and more blood pooled out. He kept muttering a foreign word. Then, he pulled the needles and wiped the blood with a wet towel.

“He will be fine.” Benjamin intoned. He placed his necklace back over his head.

“Is that all you could do? You just wasted our precious time with fake methods.” Dr Andrew couldn’t hide his frustration.

What Benjamin did was nonsense to him, he was expecting the old man to get up immediately.

Ariana looked at Benjamin. The light gasped from her grandfather left them in shock, and the old man flickered his eyes open.

Dr Andrew’s jaw dropped as he was dumbfounded. He felt ashamed.
