Part 8: Secret Truth In The Past

"This is the guild headquarters, Mr. Aland. So, for the time being, Mr. Aland can stay in this place. Doesn't Mr. Aland mind?"

Aland actually felt in a confusing situation. He didn't know whether to live the same life, or live a new one?

In front of him now, were seven men who were completely unfamiliar. Only one man with a middle-aged appearance that Aland somewhat recognized. His memory is really not too clear about his childhood while living in the Hamilton family environment.

"These are the people who work under the Hamilton family?" Aland asked Barvel, whispering a little.

Barvel nodded his head. "That's right, Mr. Aland. If you remember, the man on the right is Bernard, Big Boss Bart Raymond's personal assistant, your father."

No answer. The direction of Aland's gaze moved to someone Barvel pointed at, a man with a smile and sparkling eyes. Aland actually only remembers vaguely.

'The man who often carries me everywhere... is this the man?' Alan thought.

"Sir? What about where he lives?" Barvel again asked a question.

Only then did Alan wake up from his daydream. He turned his gaze to Barvel, looking dazed.

"Oh, about this residence..." Aland remembered the contents of the house where he lived now: an old house that wasn't big, some of the paint on the walls had peeled off, there were stains that seemed difficult to clean, then there were also no facilities or interior. luxurious.

When he remembered that, Alan accidentally saw Bernard's gaze watching him. As if waiting for Aland's answer.

"No problem," Alan replied, finally. "I've had years of living without luxury."

After Aland said his answer, Bernard seemed to smile in relief. But Alan didn't really care about that.

"You can stay here for a while, Mr. Aland," said Bernard. "In return for my gratitude because the Hamilton family has helped me a lot. My place is not large, and this basement is used as a base for us all to discuss the Hamilton family attack case."

"The Hamilton family assault case?" Alan asked.

He nodded. "Yes, Mr. Aland. Over the years, we have always gathered to collect suspicious information so we can find the mastermind behind the case."

Then Bernard's explanation was interrupted. Aland watched very seriously to wait for the continuation of the explanation. Meanwhile Bernard took a deep breath, then slowly.

"Unfortunately, the suspicious information we have collected has found no end. Not only are we looking for the mastermind behind the case, we are also looking for the whereabouts of Mr. Aland and the other remaining members of the Hamilton family."

While putting both hands into his trouser pockets, Aland suddenly had an idea. Aland asked, "Have you found the rest of the family yet?"

"Only two of Mr. Aland's cousins. Mr. Aaron and Mr. Kennith," answered Bernard.

Alan's breath was immediately heard as his shoulders slumped limply. Aland felt the worry in his chest very strong. He thought about how Papa, Mama, and his two older brothers were.

"What about them?" Subconsciously, Aland muttered the question.

Barvel and Bernard heard Aland's question, also understanding who the 'they' were referring to. But the two grown men said nothing. Just look at each other accidentally and secretly feel pity.

"Then, what about the other bodyguards?" he asked.

With a look of displeasure, Bernard replied, "Unfortunately, they were among those who died."

Alan fell silent. Somehow, it felt stifling after hearing Bernard's answer. Even though the bodyguards of the Hamilton family weren't very close to him, that incident shouldn't have made them victims.

Unfortunately Aland could only hold back the feeling of guilt in his chest. He looked at Bernard with a look that seemed to imply relief.

"I'm happy because you're one that can last through the years," Aland said a bit awkwardly.

Not wanting to get lost in the atmosphere that almost reminisced that painful incident, Bernard immediately laughed. He was looking for a topic of change.

"During Mr. Aland's search, it was Barvel who had to visit several countries. We just found out that Boss Raymond had predicted the incident of this attack, and Boss Raymond kept quite a large amount of reserves in the safe."

"Safe?" he asked. "I never knew dad kept things like that."

"Indeed Boss Raymond deliberately did not speak to anyone, not even the Madame. That's why we used those funds to carry out your search, and there are still plenty left."

Wait. If Raymond, the father, had predicted the incident of the attack, why didn't he tell anyone?

Alan thought for a moment. Guess what might be the reason Raymond didn't trust anyone to say anything about the incident. Although in the end Aland didn't find the right possibility.

Only, one worst thing suddenly crossed Aland's mind: is there someone who is an intruder among the people under the leadership of the Hamilton Family? That's why Raymond didn't want to tell anyone?

"I don't know why Boss Raymond kept his suspicions and reserves secret. He gave those funds to me at the time of the attack."

For some reason, in a second, Aland's memory immediately replayed the incident from fifteen years ago. Because he was still very young, Aland only remembered himself hearing screams of fear, panic, and also people running like bees.

Aland still clearly remembers his confusion because he witnessed a party that suddenly went chaotic. An explosion sounded not far away, followed by people fighting, also plates or glasses breaking after being touched by the guests.

Until finally Aland remembered himself being pulled by someone in a daze, away from the crowd of party guests. Everything went so fast and Alan didn't have time to digest anything.

As the memory played through his mind, Aland felt a surge of anger and guilt. Aland immediately shook his head to dispel the memory loop, then took a deep breath.

"I just remember... dad asking someone to pull me away," said Aland, who spontaneously grabbed the edge of the table with both hands. With a slight bow while catching his breath due to emotion, Aland glared at Bernard. "That's you, right?"
