Derek's hands trembled greatly, it was Morphie, Brenda's elder brother calling.

Just a feet away from his mother in law on to fall in the hands of the son.

All along, Derek was sure Morphie's call would only add more salt to his injury, but which seemed better, to pick and get insulted or avoid and receive a bigger bundle of visitation?

To avoid the second option from happening, which only God knew what dimension it could take, Derek picked the call.

Immediately, he was greeted by hot venomous words. "Bloody asshole! What took you so long in picking up my calls? Scared that I might chop that annoying face of yours off huh?"

Derek left with no choice, leaned on his chin and allowed the ocean of words to fall directly on his laps. "You've got no shame I must say," Morphie chuckled loudly mockingly and continued.

"Even a lazy asshole like you is prepared to be a father huh! You've got no job yet you've got some shameless thing between that thigh of yours to put my sister in the family way?!" Morphie mocked without mincing words.

"Family way!" Derek had exclaimed openly and unwittingly. Brenda never told him she was pregnant, they slept and awoke together on the same bed, but she never made effort to even unwittingly spill it.

It pained Derek greatly to have discovered this from the mocking words of a stranger, all of this amounts to just one thing, Brenda seemed no longer interested in him anymore.

While he nibbled on that, Morphie even made a jest out of him the more, to have realized he never knew his wife was pregnant.

As if that wasn't enough, he went on to tell Derek more, which finally threw him off his balance.

"You are just à fool Derek, trust me you are! A capital FOOL! How do you think the whole organization is rejecting you, why do you think your certificate is enviable, yet those who aren't as qualified as you get a better job!"

"I bet you've never thought about this," he scoffed mockingly once more and declared. "You are a just a feet from being a excommunicated … mum placed a decree to have you rejected wherever you went for a job, so why are you still living? Why not die off?"

For the very first time, Derek's eyes watered, and in a short while, he had some hot and uncontrolled tears stream down his cheek.

That day had been nothing but a complete mess up for him, everything boiled down from Brenda to Morphie's revelation.

As such, he simply felt like walking into the cold hands of death himself, living was no longer an option for him.

It was obvious, the Reids hated him, he wondered how Mrs. Reid had sent out the order and yet pressurized him to get a job or have Brenda taken away.

Derek got to recall how he had a job the first year of their marriage, he was able to fend and provide for his family, until they got to reconcile and apologize to the family and everything simply turned sour.

He had all this run through his mind before Morphie declared his last. "If by twenty-four hours you are yet to get a job, then consider yourself a nobody to Brenda anymore, forget she existed, and forget about that thing you implanted inside of her."

As it should, the call went off instantly.

Derek stood to his feet and walked without aim for over an hour. After such a long walk, he got tired. The fatigue from every single devastating moment finally caught up with him, plus the fact that he still was on an empty stomach.

He never could tell how long he had walked, as he was just too weak to process anything at the moment, a myriad of emotions ran through his heart at the recall of his experiences.

As if all this was never enough for the day, while he staggered along the walkway, he was too lost to realize a black Lincoln Limousine pulls up right beside him.

Before he could process anything further, he had about three burly men all in masks, hurl him into the vehicle.

Derek wanted to scream for help, but he just was too weak to do so, and even if he did, he was pretty sure no one would come for him.

A part of him was quite joyed he was kidnapped, another part of him trembled greatly to realize how troubled Brenda might be if she found out he was kidnapped, that's if she still cared.

If she did, then it would never favor her present condition.

Throughout the drive, his eye had been covered with a black scarf, he couldn't tell who was who, all he felt was thick darkness revolting around him, and the domineering aura of his captors.

He tried as much as possible to plead for just an opportunity to speak with Brenda, but even his lips failed him as they seemed glued together out of extreme fatigue.

Nothing else ran through his mind other than imagining different death methods, death by gun, suffocation, sliting the neck, dying by being electrocuted, or the last… that was it, he was out of options.

He thought the best he could do was to plead with his captors to let him die a peaceful death, not a terrific one after all he had passed through.

Just as he did pounder in this, the vehicle pulled up, and he got dragged into only God knows where.

Roughly handled, he was thrown to a single chair and tied to it with the blindfold still intact. On the whole, he never felt the presence of anyone before him.

A minute passed, two, three, four till ten minutes did pass, then someone came from behind, and roughly loosened the scarf.

While he flickered his eye for a clearer vision of his current location, his vision picked an old man up front, the old man seemed to be in his late 60s and he was dressed luxuriously.

Before he could process the next thing, he heard the old man yell out. "How dare you treat our young master this way?"

“No!” Perry refused resolutely. “This isn’t a small business. We’ve monopolised it in Dominican! If I recommend some clients to you, won’t I be giving my family a competitor for no reason?”Derek shook his head. “I naturally won’t run this business in Dominican and become your competitor.”After giving it some thought, Perry still didn’t believe Derek. “Your roots are all in Dominican. Why should I believe that you would leave this place and go elsewhere to run this business.”Derek shrugged. “It’s up to you to believe me or not. Mr. Perry, please get your facts right. I’m doing you a favour by asking you to recommend clients to me. To put it bluntly, the Bathhouse is in my hands now, and so are those beautiful women. Even if I take over the business directly now, what can you do for me?”Derek's words made Perry’s face turn gloomy again. But this was really what the current situation was like. Since that bastard manager had presumptuously sold the Bathhouse, Derek was the dominant p

  • CHAPTER 290

When Perry saw how bold and fearless Derek was, his facial muscles twitched a little as he gritted his teeth with great resentment and viciousness in his eyes. With a hypocritical grin, he said, “Hehe, why would I do that? Since I invited you here, I naturally have something to discuss with you.”He thought he had hidden his intentions well. But being a sharp and shrewd person, Derek had long seen through Perry.“Mr. Perry, don’t beat around the bush with me. If you have anything to say, just say it.” Derek couldn’t be bothered to exchange hypocritical pleasantries with him. He simply leaned against the couch and got straight to the point.Seeing Derek taking the lead in the conversation, Perry was displeased, and his face immediately turned dark.He waved his hand, and the few scantily clad beauties sitting beside him immediately walked out of the room.Soon, only Derek, Perry, and a burly man who followed Perry wherever he went were the only ones left in the large private room.Dere

Derek frowned. He didn’t expect Aiden to die despite being in police custody. But there were definitely potential loopholes everywhere. If it was really the doing of the force that Derek guessed, the police would likely be defenceless and unable to guard against their actions. But Aiden’s death was not in vain. At the very least, Derek was now certain that the mastermind who instigated Aiden was more likely than not same person who sent the photographer.Otherwise, Aiden wouldn’t have died so easily.“Okay, I know.”Derek was about to hang up the phone when he noticed in the rearview mirror that there were several inconspicuous cars tailing his car. Their intentions were unclear, but he knew that they had to be up to no good.He frowned. They’re really everywhere. How annoying! He wondered who sent these people to tail him. With a trace of murderous intent in his eyes, Derek hung up the phone and quickly made another call. “Come to Clarine's apartment, I will send you an address.”Der

Derek couldn't tell who it was yet, but he knew he would find out. With a sharp and cold gaze in his eyes, Derek raised his head and looked distantly in the direction of the DC. “Hmph, I don’t care who you really are. As long as you dare to reach your hand here, I don’t mind chopping it off!”When Derek reached the amusement park entrance, he saw Clarine waiting here for him worriedly.“Derek, did you get what you went for? Did you find everything?” she asked curiously.Derek raised his arm with two paper bags and said with a faint smile, “I got them. Fortunately, there was no queue.Clarine grinned and teased, “It turns out you really are caring.”Derek smiled. He merely nodded and said, “Yeah, so you have to be like me as well. In the meantime, it's getting late, let's go home.”Clarine nodded happily.
