Chapter 9

Alec did not know what to say. That would be the first time that he would receive such an offer.

“A meal? Alright, I'm in for it. So, where is the venue?” Alec asked her.

“About that, sir. I do not have the money to treat you to a fancy restaurant”

“I will gladly go with you to any restaurant” Alec said.

“How about….”

Debby stopped abruptly on seeing someone coming. Then, she suddenly had a look of fright laced on her face.

“Are you okay?”

“Save me, please” Alec said. He turned around to see three group of men with a pictures in their hands. They looked like they came to find someone but ordinary. Alec knew this because he had once been given the opportunity to know this when he had issues with his few classmates back then in college.

He held her hands instead and rushed towards a small closure. The moment they saw the both of them, they rushed towards them but lost track of them.

“Who are they?”

“My boyfriend's guards. He's a crazy man that is so obsessed with me and…”

“We should not have ran. I would have saved you” Alec said and held her hands. He was about to leave when she held his hands.

“Mr Alec, those men are dangerous. What if they try to kill you?”

Kill me? Alec thought and smiled. This woman did not know whom he was.

Back then in college, just because he wanted to be there for Sophie who used Alec so much, she did not care about the fact that he had a heart disease and made sure he enrolled in a class that taught about fighting skills. Eventually, he was not able to use it since she eventually never wanted him around.

Besides, even if Debby did not realise it, the woman had helped saved him from Sophie earlier.

“You're safe with me” He said and walked out of their hiding place.

“That's him” Debby said in fear as she looked at a young man who entered immediately they got out.

“Debby, who is this?” The man asked.

“I'm her boyfriend. Do you have a problem with it?” Alec chipped in.

“Boyfriend?” The man asked and laughed.

Debby's hand tightened against Alec's. She was really scared of what he could do. This was a man that was into drugs for five years. Nothing scared him. He could also be referred to as a maniac and a bully. How on earth would she not be scared? All she wanted was to deal with her problems by herself.

That was why she did not shed tears earlier when Sheila had molested her. It was what she was used to after all.

The man moved closer to Alec.

“You, do you know that this thing is mine?”

“Thing? She's not a thing. You shouldn't refer women as thing. Don't you think so?” Alec asked. “stay away from her or else, you would not like the outcome”

“What do you want to do? Put me in jail?”

“I never said that but you will never like what you would see” He said firmly and was about to leave with her when the man held his hands.

Alec did not want to fight in the hospital considering the fact that it may get him into prison and people who want to know the face behind the hotel would be disappointed.

He snatched it almost immediately and pushed him away, thereby making him hit the nearest wall. This attracted a lot of attention. Alec did not care about that instead as he walked out of the hospital with Debby, feeling so proud of himself.

If there was one thing he was grateful for, it was the fact that he could not stand up for himself while he was at college. He was grateful that he could stand up for someone else.

“Thank you, sir. That was really awesome.” Debby said in smiles. She knew whom her boyfriend was. He hated men who stood up for women. Especially for someone like her and that was one thing she was grateful for!

“You're welcome. You should never allow anyone treat you like trash. You deserve someone better” Alec said as he started his car.

“Now, I feel so much indebted to you, sir. It would not make sense if I do not at least do something. So, I was wondering, is it okay if I invite you over to my house instead and I will make you an homemade dish?”

Really? Alec thought within him. This was one of his fantasies but Sophie never did that for him. It was not even possible. Was it someone that never really liked it if they were together in public?

“You don't have to bother about it” Alec said, making it seem like he really wanted it. Maybe if she persuaded him, he would take the offer.

“Sir, I understand that it's little. I will gladly accept it if you would agree”

“Alright.”

“Tomorrow, sir. May I have your contact also?”

She asked. Alec smiled and passed her phone to him. She looked at her boss in surprise. How could he use something like this? It was old and outdated!

She said nothing instead. Her reaction made Alec understand that it was because of the phone he used. He made a mental note to have one ordered.

Soon after, the drive was silent as he drove her back to the hotel.

“Let the manger know that a room be prepared specially for me.” Alec said and drove away while she lowered her head.

“Tell me, how was the ride in the car?” Debby's coworkers asked while she smiled.

To be honest, she also enjoyed the ride too! Too bad the car and eveything he had was not for him as he had said.

“I want to get into trouble with a customer also so that I can ride in the car too.” Another worker said dreamily and stared at Alec who drove speedily till he was out of their sight.
