A group of men surrounded Quinin and a glim expression flashed through his face.

"What's the meaning of this?" Doctor Col face tightened.

"Don't take it the wrong way. I just want to have a little chat with the young man.." Xerxes stepped forward revealing her vibrant and suffocating aura even though she did nothing.

The other men beamed with an excessive amount of jealousy. A lowly look the man has been able to catch the attention of the almighty heiress.

"Ok..."

"I'm sure you already know who I am. I was informed that prior, Doctor Col noted that you would be able to help with my brother's case."

"So I wanted to know. Are you a well-trained doctor by any means?"

"I only know a little about medicine and nothing more. I'm sorry to disappoint you." Ended Quinin with a blank face.

"Oh... I must have gotten the wrong idea. Thanks for entertaining my curiosity." The bitter pill of disappointment rose through the throat of the heiress and she turned around to leave.

Doctor Col said nothing.

But before she left, the Director, followed by Ben and the other doctors rushed panicking into the halls.

"Is there a problem Doctor?" Xerxes inquired.

"This case Lady Xerxes. I'm sorry but we can do nothing about it. It's Haitus. The disease from three years ago.

We tried all we could do to stabilize the vitals of the patient but it was of no use. We can only assure you of a few hours with him before he eventually ends his course on earth."

Xerxes froze first with shock and then with fury.

"Didn't you tell me that you could help after carrying out the test?" Her face burned with rage that sent the Director falling back in his steps.

"Why didn't you inform me earlier that it was Hiatus!" She stood out more angry than emotional.

"We.. thought we could do something about it." Ben shook his head, his gaze falling on Col.

"Didn't you say that you would be able to do something about it earlier? Or you were just bluffing?

You gave us all the false hope. Now see where it has landed us all." Ben needed someone for the blame to be pushed on. It would be better if the Doctor was even stripped of his license. Ben has always thought that the person preventing him from rising through the ranks was Doctor Col.

"Everyone was there when he said those words. Right?" He turned to the other Doctors.

They could only nod their head in agreement. Frightened at what the outcome would be if they did otherwise.

Having issues with Doctor Ben was more like making life a living hell for yourself at the hospital.

"I never said I could." Doctor Col frowned at how manipulating the young man could be.

"I only recommended someone to which you declined."

"Oh. Your farmer friend?" Ben was choking with his laughter. The hands of the Doctor squeezed tightly, unable to do anything.

"Quinin?" Xerxes spilled with desperation itched in her throat.

"Then let him start working on him right away!" Shocks ran through the crowd like a wave.

Xerxes was desperate. The life of someone who dared to her was on the line. She had briefly forgotten what she had been told a few moments ago.

Besides, there was nothing to lose and a lot to gain if the one perfect chance worked out in their Favour.

Ben chuckled, thinking that he had heard wrong.

"I think you're making a terrible mistake. Doctor Col was only pulling a prank on us. Tell him Col how stupid you were."

"I wasn't joking when I said what I said." Col rebuke sternly and turned to Quinin, his expression softened.

"I'm very sorry for everything Doctor Quinin. But if you could help for your uncle's sake." His eyes formed a whirlwind of emotions as he spoke.

"Col what's wrong with you? Lady Xerxes. You aren't going to let someone who has barely been in the four walls of a medical school come close to someone close to you, right?

In ten years from now, I don't think he would even be able to get himself a license." The director spoke out of desperation while gritting his teeth.

"What's the percentage of him surviving?" Xerxes inquired.

"None."

"But wouldn't it be better to give the young man a dignified death?"

Xerxes slapped the direction right in the face, shattering the glasses.

"Any further words and you will be the one ending up without a license."

"I'm very sorry about that Doctor Quinin. If there's anything that you can do to save him."

Quinn nodded his head and proceeded into the operation room. The doctor stood back and watched while Doctor Col served as the assistant.

Quinin taking two shots of needles pulled off fluid right from the spine, replacing them with a dose of water.

The eyes of the Doctors widened. The central nervous system is the most complicated in the body

Even if the young man had a chance of survival before, now he wouldn't.

"Are you out of your mind?" The Director barked. "Do you want to damage him?"

"He was poisoned, dude. And thanks for your delay. It has affected his life force. This's the only way to save him."

"Huh? Poisoned. That's Haitus. You don't even know the proper diagnosis. Then how do you even intend to help you man?" Ben was going to use the slightest opportunity to make a shade out of Doctor Col and anyone who was related to him.

Everyone muttered curses at Doctor Quinin. Even Xerxes had her heart at the bottom of her stomach.

However, eventually, the breath of the man on the bed steadied after the last procedure and his vitals machine started beeping normally.

After a few moments, he was totally fine. Like nothing had happened to him in the first instance.

A hurricane of shocks pummeled forcefully through the spine of everyone that stood in the halls.

The silence in the room returned, and Quin sighed before he continued speaking with the Mayor. “Now that I have your full attention, Mayor. Let’s get right to it…” Quin cleared his throat, and then he stated his demand; “I want you to step down as the Mayor of Eastside City with immediate effect. Call the media tonight, and tell everyone that you are no longer interested in being the Mayor of this City.” “What?!” Clifford gasped the moment the heard the demand that Quin made. Knowing the kind of person his friend was, he was certain that Elliot was not going to accept the condition. “You are joking, right?” Elliot asked from the other end of the line, but Quin remained silent, and he could tell that he wasn’t mincing words. “You can’t be serious, Quin! Telling me to step down as Mayor! Who do you intend that I hand over to? You?”“Not me, Elliot. I have no interest in that position.” Quin responded, and there was murmuring in the crowd. No one could understand what Quin was up

Sooner than later, some of the guests began to murmur while everyone waited impatiently for the Mayor to come to their rescue. The suspense in the room was so overwhelming that some of them began to draw close to Clifford while they kept their eyes on Quin.“I wonder why your dear friend has not said a word, Clifford.” Quin jeered, and then he moved closer to Clifford who struggled to remain where he was standing.“Oh, he is still on the call. I almost thought that he was gone.” Quin said after looking at the screen of the phone, and then he returned to his position. Clifford was confused. The mayor was too quiet for his liking, and it was very strange because he knew him as a very cruel man who was always eager to deal with anyone who tried to offend him. “Elliot? Are you still there?” Clifford didn’t want to lose faith in his friend. After all, he was still the Mayor of the City, and that meant that everyone was under his control. “I am here, Clifford…” Elliot took a deep breath

The room became silent again, more silent than it had ever been while the tension began to grow, creeping deeper into the bodies of Clifford and his guests. One of the lady guests was so afraid of what could happen that she began to sob, and soon her cry was so loud that Quin was able to hear it.Then he turned and saw who was crying.“Aha!” He sniggered. “Miss Hilda Yules? I almost didn’t recognize you.” Quin shook his head while the lady lifted her face to look at him.She had managed to wipe some of the tears off her face, but there was no guarantee that she wasn’t going to cry again. “Those tears have no impact on me,” Quin grunted in annoyance, and then he took a few steps close to Hilda, an angry look plastered all over his face.“I know everything you have done, Hilda. I am aware of your involvement with the Mayor. You not only warm his bed, but you also help him carry out some of his illegal business, that’s when his son is not available. Does Oliver know what you do with hi

Three other men joined Adam, ready to take the key forcefully from him. There was still panic inside the room, especially from some of the ladies who just wanted to get out.“Relax, everyone! We are going to get the key from this lunatic!” Adam assured everyone. And because they were aware of how ruthless he was, they believed that he could handle Quin.“I see.” Quin sniggered. “This is getting more interesting than I thought it was going to be. “Shut the fuck up and hand over the key!” One of the four men standing in front of Quin yelled at him, but he scoffed like always.“Easy, tiger. Screaming like a woman is not going to help you right now.” Quin said with a smirk, but he had already pissed the men off.“What the hell are we waiting for?! Let’s get him!” Adam said, and because he had been able to give the men the courage they needed, it didn’t take long for them to attack Quin. Kicks were released, punches were thrown, and before long the four of them fell to the ground, accomp

Slowly, Quin was led through the back into the building with the two men walking on both sides. They watched him closely, and were ready to take actions just incase he tried to run away. “You know I am going to beat you guys up, right?” Quin said with a smirk, but the men didn’t bother to say a word. They just took turns to stare at him while they continued moving. Halfway along the hallway, Quin suddenly stopped, causing the men to take two steps ahead of him. But they stopped as well and turned to look at him. “Why did you stop?” One of the men asked angrily, glaring at Quin with so much impatience.“I am tired of walking. I think my legs hurt.” Quin said, but his response pissed the men off.“Come on, make a move!” The other man yelled, his eyes turning red in annoyance.“I am not going to make any move from here.” Quin insisted, and this made one of the men start walking to him at once.“I asked you to move!” The man grabbed Quin by his hand and tried to force him to continue w

For a moment, Phil thought Quin was not going to say any other word, but he was only thinking of what to do at that moment.“I am sorry for this, Sir! I was just following instructions! Mr. Malcolm is not the kind of man that anyone would wish to offend!” “I am certain that you can see that the same applies to me as well, Phil. You should be more afraid of what I can do to you.” Quin grunted, and Phil moved backward in fear. “I a sorry, Sir! I didn’t mean to offend you!” Phil apologized, but Quin had no interest in that. “Call your boss, Phil. You will tell him exactly what I am about to say to you.” Quin said, but his words made Phil shiver more.“Please don’t make me do this, Sir! I can’t tell him that I failed. He is going to hang me.”“And I could decide to strangle you right away, Phil. The choice is yours.” Quin scowled, causing Phil to swallow hard again.“I will call him.” He nodded in agreement, and then he took out his phone from his pocket. He tried to stop his right ha
