142: Papers to sign

~MoperVille Central Prison~

The tall fences with barbed wire surrounded the prison grounds. The area outside reminded one of an empty desert - dusty, with hardly any plants except for scrub grass.

As it was during break time, the inmates walked around in faded orange jumpsuits and rubber slippers.

Guards were watching from tall towers up above, making sure nothing went wrong. Some prisoners played basketball on cracked courts. Others were jogging. The unlucky ones paced the edges like trapped cats, squinting at the bright sun.

In the middle of this, a man in white robe entered the prison gates, his eyes scanning around the prison.

He adjusted his priestly collar and straightened the black robe draped over his shoulders.

The guards eyed him suspiciously but waved him through the metal detector.

As he reached the checkpoint, one of the guards held up a hand. "No approved visits today, father,” he said, standing in front of the entrance to block him.
