The Almighty Supreme Commander

On the borders of Virelia, a part of North City designated solely to the army, five thousand troops clad in their dark brown army uniform lined up from the beginning of the 120 acres of land to the end.

They stood at ease, with their nose held high up in the air and their eyes fixed determinedly ahead on them.

Standing in front of them with his eyes fixed on a book was a tall and lanky man clad in a black t-shirt and military pant who looked to be in his late 20s.

The neatly trimmed stubble close to his skin makes him appear rugged, yet polished looked majestic with an unbeatable air of authority swelling around him.

A man in the same military clothes as the troops soon hurried over to his side and stretched an envelope towards him, his face lowered to the ground in a bow.

“Supreme Commander, someone sent you this six hours ago.”

Wade Wilmer didn’t pause what he was reading. After a while, he raised his eyes to look at the man and passed along the book he had been reading before collecting the letter.

His eyes, which had been devoid of emotions just a second again, was instantly filled with killing intent when he read the content of the later.

He crumpled the piece of paper and looked up, barely managing to contain his rage, “Get the helicopter ready, General Hayes.”

Jordan Hayes immediately saluted and rushed off to do as instructed. Shortly after, Wade joined him in the helicopter.

As he activated the fuel pumps and turned on the helicopter, Jordan turned to inquire, “Where to, Supreme Commader?”

“Maple Hotel in Waverly.” Wade Wilmer replied stoically, fastening the seatbelt around him.

The hotel was a popular and expensive place owned solely by the government and was never loaned to anyone for any occasion.

Despite this, it was always bustling with customers. But today, not only was an engagement party held in it, but there was also an auction which was about to begin.

Only the wealthy and influential were invited and it was closed off to the rest of the world whom they felt weren’t deserving of being here.

In the midst of the room, a man in a royal blue tuxedo was surrounded by three men who kept congratulating him for his new position as head of his family.

“Congratulations on becoming the head of your family and on your engagement, Mr. Wilmer. If you need anything in the future, our Reed family will be glad to help you out.”

“Not only are you the head of one of the most prestigious families in North City, but you’re also getting married to the first daughter of the Hutton family. Talk about a power couple.”

“I’m a little envious. The Wilmer family and the Huttons will be unstoppable after this marriage. It’ll take decades, if not a century, for any family to catch up.”

Gabriel Wilmer grinned from ear-to-ear at their sweet words. His cheeks had taken on a brighter shade of red, and his eyes were already starting to droop.

If the people around him didn’t know who he was, they might’ve assumed his flushed cheeks were due to the wide grin he had from grinning at all the praises.

As a waiter was about to walk past him, he pulled him back by the shirt and grabbed the rest of the shots on the tray.

The waiter was a little stunned before he smiled awkwardly and bowed slightly to him before hurrying away.

The expressions of the men surrounding him changed as well, but when he glanced at them, it returned back to normal and they pretended to laugh loudly.

“It’s a day you should be happy and allowed to do whatever you want. So don’t feel bad. If you want, you can even take mine.”

The man had only offered his glass as courtesy, but to everyone’s greatest surprise, Gabriel hurriedly drowned the shots he had taken from the waiter and reached for it.

It was at this moment that a woman in a red, long gown with strapless hands walked towards them and flashed them an apologetic smile.

“Forgive Gabriel. He’s actually grieving after just losing his parents. That’s why he’s been grinning non-stop and drinking whatever he lays his eyes on.”

The men returned her smile and pretended to nod in understanding.

“Really? I thought it was strange to see him stuff himself with this much alcohol on a day like this.”

“If that won’t be enough for you, you can have mine too. Or would you like me to bring you more drinks?”

Anna Hutton pressed her lips tightly together and hid the embarrassment in her eyes when she saw Gabriel dozing off in the middle of the conversation.

Her embarrassment was short-lived as the auctioneer climbed the stage to begin the auction.

“Everyone, the auction has begun. Please take your seats.”

Everyone scurried off to their seats while Gabriel Wilmer’s assistant walked up to him with a bottle of water.

After gulping it down, Gabriel grew a little sober and walked to take his seat as well.

The auction kicked off immediately.

Bids were made and things were bought before the spotlight fell on the last auction of the day.

“The special item for the day isn’t an expensive rare wine, nor a carefully crafted necklace made of diamond, but the ethereal Katherine Wilmer!”

The curtains suddenly fell off to reveal a woman in skimpy clothes locked inside a dog cage.
