As soon as Simon had finalized everything, he went back inside and sat down with his mother to watch TV. But deep down, he wasn’t focusing on the show; his mind was preoccupied with how his life had changed suddenly overnight.

It all felt like a dream. In just 24 hours, he had gone from having nothing to becoming a multimillionaire.

He couldn’t wait for his mother’s surgery to be over so he could show Ash and her family the same way they had treated him badly.

Noticing that his mother was yawning, Simon helped her to bed, bade goodnight to Ms. Cass, and then settled onto his makeshift bed in the sitting room.

After tossing and turning for hours, Simon realized that his excitement and enthusiasm was preventing him from sleeping.

The following morning arrived in a blur. Before he knew it, his mother was being wheeled into the operating room.

After what felt like an eternity later, the doctors emerged with good news. “Congratulations, Mr. Simon. Your mother is safe and sound, but she’s still under the effects of anesthesia. She should wake up in about an hour. You can visit her then.”

Simon, overjoyed, called Ms. Cass to inform her of the update.

Simon’s heart raced as he opened the email from Mr. Beckley, titled "Entraa Ownership Documents." He clicked through attachments labeled "Entraa Ownership Agreement," "Company Registration," and "Transfer of Assets."Each document confirmed that Entraa, the largest and most influential company in Skittt City, was now his.

The enormity of this acquisition sank in. Entraa commanded respect so immense that even the Liam family, one of the city’s most powerful, had to navigate a complex hierarchy just to meet its director. The Katherine family had long sought favor with the Liam family to gain access to Entraa’s prestige. Now, Simon owned it.

As he closed his laptop, a determined smile spread across his face.

Smirking, Simon thought, Ash, you are not ready for what’s coming!

He quickly finalized his signature on some documents and decided he would visit the company soon to make his mark.

But before that, he needed to buy his mother some new dresses as get-well-soon gifts and something special for Ms. Cass as a token of appreciation for her kindness.

He put on an old, worn-out shirt and torn jeans and set out for the bustling city of Skitt. He came across a fancy store with a stunning array of women’s dresses on sale.

As he entered, his gaze fell on a peach-colored polka dot gown with flares. He could already imagine how beautiful it would look on his mother and decided right there to buy it for her.

He also picked out other fancy pants and shirts for her. In addition, he spotted a feminine yet classy wristwatch that he thought would make a lovely gift for Ms. Cass. He didn’t even check the price tag; he was just  picking everything.

Just as he reached for the wristwatch, he heard a familiar voice. As he turned, he hoped it wouldn’t belong to the last person he wanted to see at the moment.

Unfortunately, it was Ash.

In a degrading tone, she said, “Simon, is that you? What are you doing here? Are you here to steal?” Her voice rose sharply, drawing the attention of several people in the store, including the storekeeper.

Simon replied, “Not everyone cheats and steals like you.”

Ash ignored him and turned to the storekeeper. “Can’t you see how this man is dressed? Don’t you know he’s here to steal? To save us all time, ask him to pay for his purchases now.”

The storekeeper, though hesitant, approached Simon. “Sir, can you bring all your items so I can calculate the total?”

Simon complied, spreading out his purchases. As the storekeeper began to tally the items, Ash interjected. “Hold up. Is this not the famous Louis Vuitton dress? There are only three in the world. The first lady of Country Z has two, and this is the remaining one.”

She sneered at Simon. “You’re really going to make a fool of yourself today. I know you’re broke, but stooping this low is the worst.”

The storekeeper, after a moment of shock, announced, “Sir, your total is $500,000.”

Simon extended his glossy black card and said, “Okay.”

The storekeeper was momentarily stunned by the card, having only heard of such cards but never seen one in person.

Ash’s eyes widened. “What? Where did he get this platinum black card from? There are only three in the country.”

Before Ash could process this, the storekeeper handed Simon his card and said, “Thank you for your patronage.”

Ash exclaimed, “What? The payment went through? Simon, I know you must have stolen this card. You’ll be caught soon.”

Simon broke his silence. “Ash, it’s your turn to pay for everything you’ve bought. Or do you need me to cover it for you?”

Ash hissed and went to pay at the cashier. To her shock, her card was declined due to insufficient funds. She had to call Liam for assistance.

The onlookers in the store started pointing fingers at her, realizing that she had accused Simon of being a thief while she was the one with insufficient funds.

Simon smirked. “I guess she’s just jealous and nothing else.”

He added, “If you don’t mind, I could help you pay. But on second thoughts, you don’t deserve it. You deserve disgrace and embarrassment.”

Ash retorted, “I actually wanted to spare you because I pitied you. I didn’t want to call the police to report the stolen black card. But it looks like good deeds aren’t appreciated these days. I’m calling the police right now.”

Simon offered, “I’ll do you a favor and lend you my phone.”

Ash ignored him and quickly dialed 122. When the call was answered, she reported, “Sir, at FirstMarket Boutique, I’ve just caught a thief who stole a premium golden black card and is trying to max out the card by spending dangerously lavishly.”
