Chapter One Hundred and Forty Two

Raina hummed to herself as she climbed the stairs of her house.

She had plans to make and of course, Marco to win back. She needed him.

She unlocked the door with her keys, she stopped short when she saw her father sitting on the couch with a glass of wine in his hands.

"Oh hey, Dad. I didn't know you were home." she greeted, placing her bag on the table and crossing to get a bottle of water.

"Where have you been?" she heard him ask.

"I was in school."

Raina gulped her water, she was thirsty from all the day's stress.

"Did you talk to Marco?"

"Yes, I did but he wouldn't bulge."

"You didn't try hard enough then."

Raina dropped her water bottle and walked back to the living room, standing close to her father.

"I did, he just wouldn't drop it."

The next action happened so fast, her father stood up and slapped her.

Raina cradled her cheek as she stumbled backward, her eyes were wide as she looked at her father, she was shocked.

He had never raised his hand on her, never.
