"Ryder Hawke, you are hereby suspended from your role as an officer for three days." A hoarse voice came, glaring at a young handsome figure with white hair.

"Sir I don't understand what's going on..." Ryder stuttered, looking at his superior in shock.

"You let three criminals who were under your watch escape, what do you think you deserve for that?" The voice demanded, filled with anger.

"But...."

"Next time, be more careful about who you trust.” The man interrupted Ryder.

"Also, the three day suspension you are given is not a holiday for you. You are to capture those criminals and bring them back to the station, or else you'll be dismissed." The man threatened.

Ryder's eyes opened wide in shock hearing what his superior said. He wanted to say something, but the words were stuck in his throat.

"Now, get out of my office." He commanded, pointing at the door.

"Yes sir." Ryder saluted and turned around, walking out of the office with a bitter smile.

He didn't try to plead and this was because his sentence was light. If not for the fact that his superior favored him, he was supposed to be dismissed.

What had happened was that the night before when he was supposed to be on watch, he had a running stomach and asked one of his colleagues to take his place.

Who would have known that his colleague would take a bribe and release the criminals in the cell who were supposed to be transported to the state prison the next day?

His superior was so angry and he was suspended. He was lucky that it was just a suspension. In a normal case, he was supposed to be dismissed and arrested.

It was why his superior had told him to capture the criminal in three days if he wanted to keep his job.

Ryder sighed as he walked out of the police station, climbed his rather old scooter, and headed home.

It had been three years since he graduated from the police academy and was now a police officer.

He was an honest officer and wouldn't accept bribes like most of his colleagues; this made them look down on him, and he was scorned.

The only person that didn't scorn him was his superior and he would often encourage Ryder to keep up with the good work and that soon, he would be promoted.

Now, Ryder didn't see the chance of promotion again. All his past credits would be dismissed because of what had happened yesterday. He was going to have to start from the beginning again.

But there was nothing he could do about it. He was already suspended, now he had to think of a way to capture back the criminals who had escaped.

"Huh?" Ryder suddenly frowned as his bike came to a stop. The old scooter was faulty once more.

Trying his best to start it, the scooter refused to start and Ryder couldn't help but alight from the scooter and kicked it angrily.

The scooter shook and fell due to the force Ryder had applied on it.

Ryder sighed and looked around, he knew he had to look for a way. It was getting dark already, and where he was was deserted, so he had to leave as soon as he could.

"Need some help with that?" A hoarse voice came just as Ryder was lost in his thoughts.

"No, there's no need, I'll figure it..."

Ryder muttered, but froze amidst his words staring at the figure in front of him.

Weren't they the criminals his colleague allowed to escape?

Yes, there was no doubt they were the ones, and they had about ten people holding batons behind them.

"Dear police officer, how about we help you?" One of the men, a tall, bulky figure, chuckled walking towards Ryder slowly.

"Stand back or I'll shoot." Ryder threatened, putting his hands into his belt-mounted holster to take his pistol, but the next moment his expression changed.

He had forgotten the pistol at the station. How was he going to survive this? Though this thought ran in his mind, there was no hint of fear on his face as he glared at the men.

"You forgot your gun, huh?" The criminals laughed.

"Doesn't matter; I don't need it anyway." Ryder scoffed, seemingly rather fearless.

But in reality, his heart was in an Olympic race, trying to outrun others.

"We'll see about that." The criminal chuckled and then glanced at his men.

"Beat him up." He commanded.

Before Ryder could say anything, he was surrounded.

“Arghhhh!”

Ryder screamed in pain, raising his hands, covering his head to prevent the baton from hitting it.

Soon, he was covered in blood, and his breathing was labored; all parts of his body were swollen.

"Next time, I'll see if you'll have the guts to keep watch on me, or not release me when I command you to." The criminals spat on Ryder before turning around and walking away.

Ryder lay on the floor helpless, all his bones broken and covered in blood.

His breathing was labored, and there was no way he was going to survive this if he didn't get any medical attention. But even if he got better, it was hard to say if he was going to recover.

Was this how he was going to die? His dreams of avenging his parents, which was the real reason he joined the police force to be able to apprehend the criminals, were all going to be shattered.

How was his sister going to feel? He wanted to see her even for the last time.

He wanted to tell her a lot of things, but at the moment, he was on the brink of death and there was no possibility that someone was going to save him.

"Ding!"

"System Activated."

"Commencing automatic recovery." Ryder heard a voice in his head and before he could think too much about it, he felt a warm stream of current flow into his body stimulating the pain in his body and making it intense.

"Arghhhh!" Ryder screamed again, not being able to take the pain, and directly lost consciousness.

Bruce's old voice came from the other end of the phone."It's the policeman, Ryder, who saved us the other day," Jasmine replied, the excitement in her voice evident."Invite him over, I was not able to thank him personally for saving us the last time." "We....." The sales girls stuttered, sweat covered all their foreheads as they looked at the figure standing right in front of them.Standing right in front of them was Jasmine. The real estate company was one of her family's numerous properties, and she decided that since she was in Orange County, she was going to come have a look. She had gone in with the managers and others, and also she was introduced to the sales girls, so they naturally knew who she was.She was just done with the meeting and was about to head back home when she ran into the sales girl insulting Ryder. This instantly made her furious, after all, Ryder saved her from being sexually assaulted. If it was not for him, she didn't know what would have happened to her. Though she was a spoilt brat, she still had some sense of appreciation and instantly stepped in to defend Ryder."And you." "Huh?"Ryder froze, then turned around to see who it was as he felt that the voice sounded familiar.Turning around, Ryder smiled bitterly the moment he saw who the other party was, his mouth twitching slightly as he stared at her.Wasn't that Joyce, his ex-girlfriend? What the heck was she doing here and what the heck did she mean by trying to catch her attention?Looking closer, he saw Joyce clad in the same attire that the sales girl before was wearing, and instantly, something dawned on him, then he took a look at the brochure once again.Seeing the name, he suddenly realized why she thought he had come to impress her.He had forgotten that Joyce worked as a sales assistant in a real estate company, and that was how she was able to meet many rich scions.Which in the end caused their break up as she felt that he was not going to achieve anything again. After all, his rank in the police was quite low and it would take almost forever for him to be promoted. • Nice Display

Ryder sighed as he stepped out of the station. Tim's words were still echoing in his head, and he still couldn't believe that Tim had such an idea. But then at the same time, he felt as though he was right. Scorpion and his underlings most probably had connections, and it was going to take a bit of work to be able to capture them. But then would they be punished just as Tim had said they would? He was right, at most, it was a life sentence. But if he were to follow Tim's idea, that would mean that he would become a cold-hearted killer, and that was not something that he wanted. He didn't want to become a cold-hearted killer. Not all criminals deserve to die. Some were not into killing, just like the small thugs who would steal bags and stuff.Though some were also deserving of death, like Scorpion and his underlings. All he had to do was just to make sure to draw a clear line and it was going to be fine.Ryder sighed and shook his head, putting the thought to the back of his mind. Th

  • Tim's World View

(The Next Day)Ryder walked into the station looking deadbeat and tired. The night before, he didn't get home early as he spent his time making sure the children were taken good care of.It was not until midnight he got home. As a result, he slept in and woke up late, resulting in his late coming. At the moment, Ryder had forgotten about his fatigue and just wanted to look for a way to get the higher-ups involved in the case.He didn't want the man to escape unpunished, he wasn't going to let it happen.Looking around the cell, Ryder froze as he couldn't find the man and his minions again. What the heck was happening? Didn't his colleague arrest and bring them back to the station?Where the heck were they? He couldn't understand what was happening."Hey, Ryder. What are you looking for?" Ryder's colleague walked up to him, wondering what the latter was looking for in the cell."Someone was arrested yesterday night, and I'm pretty sure he was brought here, now I can't find him." Ryder

"You bastard, how dare you treat children in such a way!" Ryder roared and rushed into the house without caring about anything."Who the heck are you?" The man narrowed his brows, observing Ryder, who had barged in."Your doom." Ryder sneered and rushed forward, not wanting to waste his time with the man."Beat him up." The man commanded, waving his hands at the two bulky men standing by the side.He had seen Ryder's attire and thus didn't give a damn. He was a little bit amused and wondered how a lowly police officer like Ryder had the guts to break into his den.The two men approached Ryder aggressively, they also looked down on him and thus didn't take him seriously. But at the moment, Ryder was pissed, so he charged directly at the two men, grabbed their incoming fists, using their momentum to pull them to himself; he suddenly released them and gave them an uppercut.Just as though they were hit by a moving truck, they were sent flying."Crash."
