Ch 09. Against Yu Mei

Shangguan Ling was stunned to see that the girl who was supposed to be walking slower than her was now right beside her. Moreover, she did not hear any footsteps approaching her, which meant that the girl was indeed a 'spy' based on her assumptions.

Only those who are trained can walk without her knowing. Shangguan Ling herself admitted that she was stronger than both Professor Gu and Yu Hanshao even though both of them were men, that was because she received hellish training in her younger years.

But the girl could easily escape his observation, which meant she was equal or stronger than him.

Yu Mei's sweet smile did not relax Shangguan Ling at all, instead, she immediately shuddered in fear and instantly took a few steps back to keep her distance from Yu Mei.

Yu Mei who was created from a wild red rose in the middle of a dense forest even after becoming a human figure still exuded her deadly charm. Beautiful yet thorny, looking exactly like a wild rose.

"Who are you? You seem to know me and it's strange that I've never seen you at all..." asked Shangguan Ling trying to stay strong even though she was actually a little scared.

Yu Mei maintained her sweet smile and replied as she walked around Shangguan Ling, "I've seen you and I know you. You've also seen me, but it's a shame you don't remember."

What Yu Mei was talking about was of course their first meeting that happened at the hotel the other day. Yu Mei and Li Hanshen did meet Shangguan Ling, but Li Hanshen used his ability to make Shangguan Ling forget their first meeting.

Hearing the ambiguous answer of the girl in front of him, Shangguan Ling frowned. There was no way she could forget a girl with a level of beauty that even made her envious, especially since the girl in front of her exuded a strange aura that felt so noble and holy, but at the same time also felt terrifying.

As Yu Mei was about to turn around to leave Shangguan Ling, Shangguan Ling threw a dagger that she always carried for emergencies at Yu Mei. Yu Mei who could 'see' everything immediately shifted her body position to avoid the dagger that shot towards her just like that.

The next sight made Shangguan Ling's heart stop beating for a split second. Yu Mei's small fingers caught the dagger that Shangguan Ling threw with great ease. It was as if what she threw was not a dagger but just a feather blown away by the wind.

Shangguan Ling's eyes widened when she saw that Yu Mei could easily dodge her sudden attack. Even for her, it was impossible for her to dodge the dagger attack from behind her back so quickly as if she saw the dagger strike herself.

Yu Mei turned around, the sweet smile on her face disappearing to be replaced with a flat face that now stared at Shangguan Ling coldly. "Do you seriously want to fight with me? I don't mind fighting with you."

She threw Shangguan Ling's dagger clamped between her fingers towards its owner. The sharp swipe of the dagger went straight to Shangguan Ling's toe and stuck right into the toe of Shangguan Ling's foot. Due to the incredible speed of the attack, Shangguan Ling felt his entire body freeze in that instant.

He wanted to run but strangely couldn't, like an invisible chain was trying to restrain the movement of his two legs. She thought fighting the dazzlingly beautiful girl in front of her would be as easy as she fought most of her enemies, but her guess was wrong. The girl could not be underestimated, she was clearly more capable than her and she could easily defeat or even kill her.

Yu Mei also felt absolutely no pity for the person who boldly attacked her. Even if she and Shangguan Ling did not have a bloody feud, the fact that the woman dared to attack her alone made Shangguan Ling worthy of Yu Mei killing with her own two hands.

"I-I... S-seems like I was wrong. I'm sorry..." without Shangguan Ling realizing it, she felt inferior to the girl standing not far from her. This was the first time she had humbly apologized to the other person.

Even if Shangguan Ling knew her IQ was not as high as Yu Hanshao's or Professor Gu's, she knew when to advance and when to retreat. Facing an opponent much stronger than her rashly was definitely not a good choice, or else she would be killed right then and there. She believed that if the girl tried to kill her, Shangguan Ling would have no room to dodge Yu Mei's attack.

Yu Mei only stared at Shangguan Ling for a moment before turning around and leaving Shangguan Ling behind as if nothing serious had happened just now. Yu Mei walked like a girl her own age, looking so cheerful and full of smiles, contrary to what Shangguan Ling had just seen.

Seeing Yu Mei's departure, Shangguan Ling secretly breathed a sigh of relief, her whole body instantly went limp to the point that she fell down helplessly on the spot. Saying that she had just faced a life-and-death situation was no exaggeration at all, as that was indeed the case.

"Who exactly is he? His ability is the strongest among all the opponents I've faced..." muttered Shangguan Ling who was still clearly remembering what had just happened to her.

As a former member of the international mercenaries, she had thousands of experiences that required her to risk her life in every battle. But this was the first time she felt that she would only suffer a crushing defeat if she dared to offend the girl she had just met. Forget about betting his life, she was sure that she would be killed if she intended to kill her.

The woman tried to forget what had just happened to her even though it was impossible. All she could do now was throw away the trash and return to her apartment unit and pray that she wouldn't be reunited with that strange girl again.
