30. Is He a Gigolo?

Danny took a long breath and began, "It was all arranged by my grandfather Robert Lancester as a form of maturation before I took up my duties as the sole heir of the Lancester family."

The two policemen just kept quiet and nodded. They both knew that some rich people did have unusual habits.

After saying this, Danny took a deep breath and said, "Sir, you have both heard a lot from me, and already know that I did not commit the theft as alleged. Now I ask that you both keep this a secret from anyone including the two men at the door!"

The two policemen nodded. They had done Danny wrong. They had both offended the Lancester family, which could be bad for their careers.

"Sir, of course we will both keep this a secret. You have nothing to worry about." Officer Warren then paused for a moment and again said carefully.

 "Sir, we have both made a mistake and offended you. Is this all we need to do to keep you from reporting this to our commander?"

Danny then laughed at the fear of the two officers before him. "You two were just doing your job, and everything was in accordance with the procedure. There's nothing to worry about!"

The two uniformed officers breathed a sigh of relief and said goodbye. Danny walked them to the door. When the door opened, Danny saw Laura and Tom still standing with their ears pressed against the doorframe.

Dany exhaled and shook her head while the two people gasped in surprise and turned to the police officer.

"Officer, how was your investigation? Why didn't you handcuff him? Or did he beat you both up?" asked Laura angrily.

"Officer, you should call your armed colleagues to arrest this man! He's very dangerous!" added Tom.

Danny, who was listening to this, was leaning against the wall with his arms folded across his chest. Occasionally, he smiled frivolously at the behavior of the two annoying people in front of him.

"Mr., Mrs., you two shouldn't be so impulsive! You should be careful with what you say. Don't let your words backfire and cause you trouble!" exclaimed Officer Warren.

Tom and Laura looked at each other and furrowed their brows. "Wait, what are you saying? Didn't this poor, useless man steal my grandmother's birthday present? You should take him to jail!"

"We found no such items and no cash in this room. We've also interrogated him and Mr. Raphael says he didn't take anything. All his answers were very convincing and there were no loopholes," Officer Warren added.

Laura snorted in annoyance. "How can you two trust this loser's word? Of course he won't admit what he did."

"Madam, you'd better check your house more carefully for the painting's whereabouts. You might have forgotten it when you put it somewhere," Officer Warren's colleague continued.

Laura stomped her foot. "No way. He must have stolen it! If he didn't steal, how did he stay at this hotel? Where did he get the money from? How could he get this much money if he begged?"

The two policemen looked at each other as Laura Huxley called Danny a beggar. Calling someone with a billion-dollar account balance a beggar. Then what about the police salary, which is only a few thousand dollars?

The two policemen couldn't stand the behavior of the Huxley family's daughter. They both exhaled and decided to leave immediately.

"Madam, both of us do not have the right to arrest Mr. Danny Raphael, as there is no solid evidence that he is the thief. If you insist on arresting him then you must include supporting evidence such as CCTV footage, proof of the sale of the painting or perhaps a photo showing that the painting was stolen by Mr. Danny Raphael."

Laura stomped her foot and pouted as she watched the police leave. Danny immediately closed the door to his room, not caring about his ex-wife and Tom Harold, who were still standing there.

As the door was about to close, Tom immediately held it with Laura.

"What else do you want to say? Didn't you hear what the two policemen said clearly? If you still want to put me in jail, then make sure you have enough evidence!" Danny snapped back.

But Laura and Tom didn't move.

"Danny, why are you in such a hurry? Is there a woman in there?" shouted Laura.

Danny didn't answer, "Whether there is or not is none of your business!"

Tom squinted at Danny and said, "Wait, you're acting suspiciously. Maybe you're..."

Laura immediately asked Tom, "What could it be, Tom?"

Tom took a long breath, "Laura, don't you think your ex-husband may be staying here because of a woman. He's young and strong, he must be a gigolo!"

Laura immediately shuddered in disgust; she even looked away reluctantly to see Danny. "Gigolo? How disgusting!"

Tom then took a long breath and said, "One more thing. He came here using Young Master Lancester's identity. Don't you think this is too much?"

Laura removed her hand from the door and stepped back. "Tom, we should just get out of here. There's no point in continuing to deal with this man. He's already offended the Lancester family, I don't want people to think that I have anything to do with this bastard!"

Tom complied and quickly removed his hand from the door. Then he walked after Laura.

Suddenly, Matthew called Laura and asked about Danny's fate and whether he was in jail. Laura snorted in annoyance, "Huh! He's lucky, the police didn't find any evidence against him. If we find out who the collector of the stolen goods is, then Danny can be arrested."

Matthew smiled and nodded. This was something he had planned before. He would sell the painting on the black market to pay off his gambling debts.

"I'll help you do that, now you better go to Grandma's house and cheer her up!" Matthew exclaimed.

Laura nodded and ended the call. Tom immediately took Laura's hand and smiled mischievously, "Mmm Laura, now that the theft of the painting is over, how about we go straight to our room?"

Laura slapped Tom on the cheek and ruffled his waist. "Huh! You can't even humiliate a loser like Danny. How could you possibly want to sleep with me? Don't dream!"

Laura then walked away quickly and left Tom alone in the corridor.
