A black Maybach was parked under the shade of a dying tree.
Adams sat in the passenger seat, tapping through his tablet. He was slim, wore glasses, and looked like he hadn’t slept in three days.
Elias on the other hand, was dressed in a cheap black suit that didn’t fit his usual image, he leaned back, arm resting casually on the wheel.
“Board meeting in Houston’s been moved to Friday,” Adams began, eyes scanning the screen. “Logistics signed the Denver deal. Clean sweep. Our legal team shut down that patent claim from SolCore.”
Elias nodded once,
Adams shifted beside him
“Also—San Diego’s factory audit came back clean. No union sniffing around. We can --
“Is it done?” Elias asked. His voice was calm. The kind that made people panic.
Adams froze. “Oh. Right, that.” He fumbled with the screen, muttering curses under his breath. Finally, he handed over the tablet. “Here it is, sir.”
Elias took it with one hand. His eyes moved, scanning. No expression. Just silence.
Adams cleared his throat. “Her name is Luna Ryelle West. Daughter of Chloe and Ryan West.”
A pause.
“Ryan West, her father owns West Holdings. Old money. Defense contracts, pharmaceuticals, a few shell companies out in Dubai. Her family usually keeps a low profile"
Elias kept reading, thumb sliding slowly on the screen.
" She’s clean. No scandals. Volunteered at a hospital for three years.studied at Lonsdale University. Top of her class. Went abroad for grad school, came back last year.”
Adams continued, adjusting his glasses
“ No known associations. She volunteers at a youth shelter on weekends. Lives alone in a small loft downtown—under her own name, not her family’s.”
The tablet was handed back. Adams took it carefully.
“Sir…” he hesitated. “Any particular reason you're interested in her?”
Silence.
Adams held it, but couldn’t help asking, “ What about the blind date yesterday? That one was—uh—”
He glanced sideways.
His boss sat still, dressed in a cheap black suit. No tie. Not a wrinkle on it, but it didn’t belong to him. The man didn’t wear anything under five grand. Today was an exception. He had even requested for Adam to drive him to the park.
Adams couldn’t help it. “Sir, that suit... are you feeling okay?”
A cold glare was his only answer. So Adams decided t shut up.
Then the phone buzzed.
Elias glanced down. His eyes stayed on the screen. He didn’t blink. But Adams saw it—just for a second.
A flicker of emotion in those cold eyes. Maybe even a hint of a smile.
Adams was shocked,He’d worked for this man for six years and never seen him react so strongly to anything. He’d seen this man bury rivals and bankrupt companies without blinking. But this—this was different.
The man pocketed his phone.
Without a word, he reached for his wrist. A gold Rolex—custom, limited edition, one of five in the world. He slipped it off and tossed it toward Adams without a glance.
Adams caught it with both hands, eyes wide. “Sir?”
“Hold it,” Elias said. He then reached for the door.
“Wait,” Adams blurted, scrambling through his briefcase. “The gift you asked for.”
He pulled out a small velvet bag and handed it over.Elias took it without a word, opened the door, and stepped out.
Elias took it, stepped out of the car, and shut the door behind him. Adams sat there, staring at the Rolex in his hand.
He muttered under his breath. “Hell just froze over.”
---
Elias entered the car.
First thing he noticed—the seats. Leather. Clean. Comfortable. But nothing close to his Maybach. He shut the door with a soft click, his gaze drifting to the woman beside him.
Then he saw her.
Luna Ryelle West.
She wore a red dress that demanded attention. Elegant. Clean lines. Not flashy, just right. Her dark hair fell over one shoulder, curled at the ends. No jewelry. No designer flex. Just confidence. The kind money couldn’t buy.
And yet… she owned it.
She turned toward him, eyes bright, lips pulling into a smile that was casual, almost lazy.
“Hi,” she said. “Rough day at work, Mr. Salesman?”
That voice again. Soft. Unbothered. Like she had no idea who was sitting next to her.
Right—she didn’t.
In her world, he was just Elias. A struggling salesmans. Not the man who ran Umbratech. Not the man who owned half the contracts in the Pentagon’s black budget.
No—just Elias, the guy who liked worked long hours.
It was the first time in a long while someone didn’t treat him like a CEO. it was almost... refreshing
Luna raised a brow.
“Oh no reply? Huh. I’m guessing it was rough.” She tapped the steering wheel. “Alright then. Buckle up, Mr. Salesman. Time for you to meet the wolves.”
Before he could say a word, the engine roared.
---
The car rolled to a stop.
Elias stepped out first. His eyes scanned the villa in front of him—white stone walls and towering pillars. Expensive, sure. Impressive to most. But to Elias, it was average at best.
Luna stepped out beside him, adjusting her dress. Before she could speak, another car door slammed.
Fredrick.
Elias recognized him instantly—the same entitled brat from the restaurant.
Fredrick’s eyes flared the moment he saw them together. His jaw clenched, face like a man reliving his humiliation.
He stormed toward them.
"You have got to be kidding me.” Fredrick’s voice cut through the air as he stopped a few feet away. His eyes narrowed in disgust. “What the hell is this loser doing here?”
Elias didn’t react. His hands stayed in his pockets.
But Luna moved without hesitation. She stepped closer to Elias and intertwined their fingers immediately.
“I think the real question is—what are you doing here?” Her voice was calm. “Elias is my boyfriend. Of course he’d be with me.”
Elias glanced down at their interwined hands. It caught him off guard a bit but he wasn't complaining.
Fredrick let out a harsh laugh “Boyfriend? Are you serious right now?”
He looked Elias up and down with contempt.
“You met him yesterday, Luna. Don’t try to act innocent. I see right through you. You’re using this guy—this nobody—just to get under my skin.” Fredrick closed the distance between them “I’m not stupid, Luna.”
Luna didn’t flinch. Instead, she tightened her grip on Elias’s hand.
"I think you’re stupid if you can’t get it into your thick head, Fredrick, that I’m not interested in you. You’re disgusting, Elias is my boyfriend, and you can’t change that."
Fredrick let out a bitter laugh. He looked around, raising his voice just enough so her parents could hear.
“Boyfriend?” He sneered.“Luna, come on. Don’t embarrass yourself.”
He pointed at Elias with a smirk.
“We all saw it, Luna. His blind date humiliated him at that restaurant—said he wasn’t good enough. And now you're parading him around like he’s some prize?
Elias stood silent beside Luna as Fredrick ran his mouth. His jaw clenched, but his expression didn’t change. The guy just wouldn’t just shut up.
Fredrick continued "He’s a salesman. A nobody. Doesn’t even own a car. You had to drive him here like a charity case.”
Elias had finally had enough. Frederick had crossed the line. Without a word, Elias shifted in front of Luna, placing himself between her and the arrogant fool.
Elias looked him dead in the eye. "You done? Or is there more garbage to spew from that mouth of yours?"
Fredrick opened his mouth but Elias cut him off.
"Because I’m starting to wonder if you’ve got anything up there at all. Or is that empty skull just echoing your daddy’s money?"
The villa doors swung open at the perfect moment, just as Fredrick was about to retort.
An older man and woman stepped out.Elias guessed immediately that they were her parents.
The woman’s eyes scanned the scene, assessing the situation.
"What the hell is going on here?" she asked,
Fredrick quickly turned, flashing a grin that didn't quite reach his eyes. “Chloe, Ryan—good to see you.”
Chloe's gaze shifted to Elias, sizing him up. “And this is...?”
Luna stepped in, voice quick and firm. “Elias Rivers,” she answered before Fredrick could interrupt. “My—”
“Boyfriend,” Elias finished for her.
Fredrick scoffed, shaking his head. "You know he doesn’t even have a real job, right?”
Chloe’s eyes narrowed at Elias. “Is that true?” Her voice was calm “What exactly do you do, Mr. Rivers?”
Luna's hand brushed his arm lightly, he could feel her anxiety. She was worried. Her parents wouldn’t approve of him if they thought he was beneath them.
Elias glanced down at her, his gaze softening for a brief moment. The last thing he wante
d was to make this any harder for her. Without any hesitation,Elias made his choice to reveal his identity as the CEO of Umbratech.
Enough of the lies. Enough of hiding.

Chapter 17
Miranda narrowed her eyes at Elias, her voice was full of disbelief. “There’s no way that card is real. It has to be fake. He probably found it lying on the street. Maybe someone dropped it, and he just picked it up.” She laughed in a mocking manner. . People nearby turned to look, as her voice rang through the boutique like a siren, drawing attention from every corner. But Elias didn’t move. He didn’t look angry or embarrassed. He didn’t even blink. He stood still, calm, as if her words didn’t matter. Luna, however, was no longer sure of anything. Her mind raced. She could still hear Miranda’s voice from that day at the restaurant. “A salesman?” Miranda had sneered. “And you’re here, at this kind of restaurant? To meet me? What is this, a joke?” Back then, Luna hadn’t questioned it. Why would she? Elias hadn’t denied it. He just sat there, letting the insult roll past like it meant nothing. From that moment on, she’d assumed he was exactly what Miranda said—just a salesman.. H
Chapter 16
Miranda’s loud laughter filled the boutique. She flipped her hair over her shoulder with a smug look on her face. “You?” she said with disbelief. “A salesman trying to buy that suit? Please. You might be able to save up for the cheapest tie in here if you work hard for the next ten years—but a $200,000 suit? Don’t make me laugh.” The sales assistant looked uncomfortable. She glanced at Elias, clearly unsure if she should step in or stay quiet. But Miranda wasn’t done. In fact, her voice grew louder so that everyone else in the boutique could hear her. “This isn’t some bargain store with clearance racks, you know,” she said loudly. She tapped her nail on the price tag of the suit. “That suit costs over two hundred thousand dollars. And that’s just the starting price. You need to have at least silver VIP status just to qualify for a custom fitting. Do you even know what that is?” She gave Elias a fake smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “I doubt you’ve even seen that much money in your
Chapter 15
Miranda’s eyes were full of anger. She stepped forward quickly. “How dare you talk to me like that?” she snapped. “Do you even know who I am? My fiancé is Fredrick. Fredrick Whitmore. He’s the heir to the most powerful family in Crestwick City.” Luna blinked slowly and let out a dry laugh. “Fredrick? That idiot?” she said with a mocking tone. “You mean the same Fredrick who tried to hit on me a few days ago? The one I rejected so badly he nearly choked on his pride?” Miranda’s whole body stiffened. “Please. He wouldn’t go near you if you were the last woman on earth.” Luna smirked and stepped a little closer. “Right. That must be why he showed up to my grandfather’s party dressed like a prince, arms full of expensive gifts, begging for my attention. I laughed in his face. I guess when that failed, he settled for you.” Miranda’s hands curled into fists. “You think you’re better than me just because you have a pretty face?” Luna didn’t flinch. “No. I think I’m better because I don
Chapter 14
Elias let out a sigh and turned his attention back to the the boutique. For a moment, he’d hoped for a peaceful evening. But clearly, that wasn’t going to happen—not while she was still standing there, waiting to provoke him. “Trying to pretend you fit in, are you?” Miranda said sharply “Walking in here like you’re some kind of prince, when in reality, you’re nothing but a street rat dressed up in borrowed clothes.” Elias didn’t react. He kept his eyes on the blue dress he was holding, pretending not to hear her. But she wasn’t going to stop that easily. “Do you actually believe that just walking into a place like this will make people forget where you come from?” she continued, “Or what you really are?” Her lips twisted into a cruel smile. “You look like someone who lives off scraps. Like someone who’s only ever known hand-me-downs and pity.” Elias turned around slowly, his eyes meeting hers. Miranda stepped closer, “Honestly, I’m amazed they even let you through the door,” sh
Chapter 13
Luna blinked in surprise. “You’re really not even a little bit bothered?” Elias didn’t look up. “I don’t waste my time worrying about men like Fredrick.” Silence followed. Luna sat there, staring at Elias as he leaned back in his chair, completely at ease. He looked like someone sitting through a boring meeting. Luna felt a tight knot form in her chest. She didn’t say anything right away, but a bit of frustration was bubbling beneath the surface. She wasn’t angry at him. Not really. In fact, she admired how calm he always seemed. How nothing ever rattled him. But this time—it bothered her. Because it wasn’t just about him anymore. Didn’t he care what Fredrick would try to pull at the banquet? She wasn’t asking for much. She didn’t expect him to scream or fight back. She just wanted him to show that he cared about defending himself. About protecting the reputation she knew he deserved. But Elias didn’t move. He’d clearly made up his mind, and she knew arguing wouldn’t change it.
Chapter 12
Elias sat alone in his study, it was a quiet room tucked behind the east wing of his estate. A tablet rested in front of him. It displayed quarterly reports—charts, numbers and more Elias scrolled through them slowly, After a while, he picked up his phone and made a call. “Adams,” he said, once the line connected. There was a short pause. Then a voice answered. “Sir. Good evening. Is everything all right?” “I just want an update,” Elias said as he leaned back in his chair. “How’s the vendor reconciliation task going?” Adams cleared his throat on the other end. “Still working on it, sir. I’ve been at the downtown office since this morning. I’m going through the procurement files from East Asia. Should have it on your desk later tonight.” “Hm,” Elias replied, He glanced at a small corner of the screen on his desk. A security camera feed showed his private office—empty. Silent. No sign of movement. A few seconds passed. “You’re at the office right now?” he asked again. “Yes,
