Every single detail of his childhood, Vincent remembers. He doesn’t leave out anything, he knows what happened and that is all part of his memory of the past. His happy past. After Alvin was blinded, the manor was in shambles. Jameson was finding ways on how to cure his son from the blindness, but according to Margarita, there is no chance that Alvin would regain his sight as the chemicals have severely damaged the cells and his eyes that it is beyond healing. However, Jameson begged Margarita to use her powers just to heal him. Which she did without results. It only made Alvin’s feelings worse as it already is. They were there for him. The whole Miles family. They guided each step he made and tried to train him to adapt to his blindness. And at one point, Alvin gave up on becoming a hero since a blind hero can’t possibly strive in the heroes world. But Ben was the one who pushed him further. And one day, while Alvin was training his combat, Vincent accidentally wondered into the training facility of the manor.

“Vincent, is that you?” Alvin asked as he looked around.

“Y-Yes, brother! Sorry! Just following the ball here!” Vincent apologized as he then picked up the ball and was about to leave.

Then Alvin called him and asked him to come closer.

“I am going to ask you a favor, okay? If you do it, I’ll give you a lot of ice-creams later. Is that okay?” Alvin smiled.

“Sure! What is it you need me to do, big brother?” Vincent asked with a wide smile on his face.

“I need you to throw that ball to me continuously and don’t stop, okay? Simple. Let’s go.” Alvin instructed.

Thinking it was some kind of game, Vincent agreed. Because in his child’s mind, just throwing a ball at someone repeatedly and then get ice-cream after is an absolute win. Vincent then started throwing his ball at his brother. At first, he was hesitant since he doesn’t want to hit Alvin. But Alvin told him that he is to throw the ball with the intention of hitting him since it will not bother Alvin anyway. So, Vincent did that. He throws the ball at Alvin with the intention of hitting him. The first 10 throws hit Alvin right in the face. But after a few more tries, he is getting the hang of it. That went on for weeks, months, and then ended up having Vincent to do it for a whole year. With that kind of effort and dedication, Alvin now acquired the advanced senses before his older siblings did. He is the gifted one when it comes to advanced senses. He even developed having thermal sensing that made him almost invincible. Along with his super speed, Alvin became a sensation and got invited into 30 squads despite his disability. And it is all thanks to Vincent’s enthusiastic helping. Thank goodness that the manor has an unlimited supply of ice-cream that he didn’t even scratch his pockets whenever Vincent asks for his reward.

Vincent remembers all of that vividly. And he spent the whole night reminiscing of the past that would not happen again even if he changes.

The next morning, Jessica woke up with the smell of strong coffee. She stood up from bed and went to the kitchen to see Vincent reading a newspaper, drinking his coffee, and wearing his trademark glasses.

“Good morning,” Vincent greeted as his flipped his newspaper to drink.

“Morning,” Jessica then sat across the table “Isn’t that coffee a little too strong? I can smell it from the bed, you know?” Jessica pointed out.

The smell itself can make anyone sneeze,

“No, not really. Since I don’t have a sense of taste, it’s not bitter for me. It’s strong, yes, since I can strongly smell the aroma. But this kind of coffee suits me, it’s great!” Vincent replied with a smile on his face.

And next to him was his breakfast. Grilled cheese. A whole mountain of them. Jessica heard that Vincent has an obsession when it comes to grilled cheese, but she did not expect that he is this addicted to it. Eating loads of food first thing in the morning is not something does.

“Did you have some sleep last night?” Jessica asked.

“Not really. Spent the whole night watching the bustling city. It’s quite entertaining. To see the city, you were born this busy at night.”

“Well, some of those streets are red light districts. The center of entertainment in this city when night falls. Anyway, did you—”

Vincent then took out a letter from his pocket and tossed it carefully to Jessica. She read what it says, and it was from headquarters—from Violet. She received the letter and instantly replied to it. The space transfer worked! And now, they have a way of communicating to the outside world with ease.

“We still need to be careful. From what I saw earlier as I received the letter; it still works with the help of an internet connection. Any excessive use of this communication will make the trackers of this facility suspicious. Hence, us being blown.” Vincent explained.

Jessica nodded. She then concluded that they are now to send letters to Violet if it’s necessary and if the information they got are important. Violet told them to continue the mission and find out who is at the top of this gamble center. Because that is their sole mission after all. However, to Vincent, finding out who it is, would be easier said than done. Some of the bosses are still wary and suspicious about them. They are new here. Their names don’t ring a bell to them. It’s bad in every way. They must have their movements be as careful as they can be. Even a reckless person like Vincent admits that if they have a mishap—even the slightest one, it could blow the whole mission and they will fail.

“What do we do? What are we going to do next?” Jessica asked.

“Blend in and gain their trust. No unnecessary actions or they’ll find out who we are.” Vincent says as he then sipped from his cup and continued reading the paper.

Jessica then stands up and went to cook herself some breakfast. But then Vincent told her that there is food in the microwave which he stored in as he cooked something earlier. Simmered beef and potatoes. He hasn’t cooked that food for a long time, so he tried to cook it this time. Jessica reheated the meal and was glad to have tasted such good food in a dangerous place.

Because I’d rather blow up like that idiot than to expose our master to you!” the woman spat at Vincent. He grew tired off her. Vincent’s right foot then pressed against her broken arm, she cried in pain as her bones cracking echoed around the empty warehouse.“Last question. Better answer it or have your arm ripped off like a ragdoll.” Vincent says with a low voice.“In the other warehouses, is it the same situation as this? Where is the one that has people in it?” Vincent asked. The woman simply smiled at him. Tears trickled down her face and her veins bulged because of the pain. Vincent stepped on the arm harder, and she wailed.“The southern port! The southern port is the port where the warehouse of trafficked humans is kept!

After arriving at the port of Eagle City, the main port, Vincent hid himself behind a thick bush. He laid on his chest as he observed the warehouse from over a few hundred feet away.“That Serene personality wasn’t lying then, huh?” Vincent thought to himself as he saw that outside of this big warehouse, dozens of armed men stood guard.“Those rifles must be loaded with incapacitation bullets. Flames, can you feel it.” Vincent asked.“Yeah, even from this distance, I can sense that familiar power.” Flames replied in Vincent’s head. The Incapacitation power, the ability to render a hero powerless. One severe wound, it might cause either death, or it will never heal.“What’s your plan, kid?” Flames questioned as he knows that his host can’t just storm in there knowing that he’ll be killed in an instant with those bullets.“First…we observe.”As Vincent went on and watch the happenings, he was taking down notes, and with the camera he brought (Sophia insisted on bringing it), Vincent sna
