CHAPTER 2

6 years have passed, and Abraham is now an 8-year-old. It was a sunny afternoon and he was laying on their grassy lawn and was covered in dirt and a few minor bruises. Besides his right hand was a wooden sword. He has been training under his father on how to use a sword. It has been a year since he started, and he is slowly getting good in using a sword.

"How long are you going to doze off, Abe?!" Filbert bellowed as he kicked the legs of his son softly.

Abraham opened his eyes that are the same color as the sky and he sighed, because another painful duel is about to happen again. He stood up, jumped up and down to get himself back into the groove. He then picked up his wooden sword from the grass as he resumed his stance. Abraham attacked first and Filbert blocked the attack. Abraham swings his sword to his father's left ribs, but Filbert just parried it. Filbert hit his son on the shoulder blades and that felt like a sword just stabbed on Abraham. He backed away as he needs a bit of a distance to formulate a plan to beat his old man.

"Your swing earlier was inconsistent. You depend on your strength a lot, without taking into account that everything matters in swordsmanship. Not to mention that you aren't using your hips properly and your footing is all over the place!" Filbert announced as Abraham listened to him.

His father is an excellent swordsman. But to think that he'd be this intense in training his 8-year-old child is absurd. Abraham is improving, but that's not enough to perform a perfect duel against his father. Well, he's too young for that, and the fact that he is improving at a terrifying speed is enough to make his old man proud. Without anymore thinking, Abraham launched another attack. He tried to use his hips more often since it's required that a swordsman must be flexible since it's a crucial part of the battlefield. Abraham swings his sword to the right, and when his father caught the attack with his own sword, Abraham then let go of the sword and let it fall to the ground. Filbert smirked as he knows what his son is up to. Abraham then crouched down and caught the sword. He targeted his father's leg, but Filbert jumped and then with the butt of his sword, he hit his son at the back of his neck. Abraham then fell onto the grass, face first.

"Yep, that's it for today." Says Filbert as he then turned his son over to face the sky.

Josephine, who just finished hanging their laundries at the back of the house, dropped her empty basket on the ground as he rushed to his son's aid. She checked her son and found that there are some minor injuries, but none are severe. Josephine then gave her husband a furious glare,

"Your son is just an 8-year-old! How stupid can you be!" Josephine snapped as Abraham sticks his tongue out at his father and was definitely mocking him.

Filbert made a face, but Josephine punched the bearded man in the balls. Filbert fell onto the ground and felt that his lungs are getting choked and his balls are just ringing like a bell. Abraham giggled a little as his mother applied healing magic on him to heal his bruises. Abraham stood up and shook his head to remove some dirt from his brown hair. He then looked at his father who is rolling all over the grass because of the pain. Josephine sighed, as she then relieved her husband's pain. As the family is now all okay, Filbert then praised his son for such improvements. To think that Abraham was so close to hitting his old man. As the father and son was talking, Josephine, who came back from the house is now carrying a big book. Abraham's expression then changed as he then tried to escape from catastrophe, when Filbert tripped him and he fell on the ground face first again.

"Now, for magic spells training!" Josephine cheered as she has a smile on her face that reaches her ears.

And so, the exhausting magic lessons started. Abraham has learned a lot about magic. How it awakens, manifest and used. Magic attributes of a mage show some signs at the age of 8, it will show faint signs and some people experience some explosive signs, but a sign is a sign. An attribute is the ability of a mage. There are 4 magical elements. Fire, water, earth and wind. Normally, mages can only posses at least one of those elements. However, in rare occasions some mages can acquire 4 of the elements. They are called as the element wielders. And after the elements, there are some rare magic attributes out there, take lightning, light, space, time, darkness and curse magic as examples. Abraham is going to find out about his magical attribute sooner than later since he just tuned 8 a few weeks ago. After studying for 2 straight hours about magic, the family went inside their house and prepared for dinner. Filbert's guild mates are at the living room and was sleeping since they just came back from a month-long mission that took place in the 15th kingdom. Angelica, the black-haired girl is a wind mage, Sylvia who is the girl with pink hair was a dual-element mage and she uses fire and earth. Pablo, is a lance mage and uses wind magic and then there's Avery, a tank mage that has earth magic. All of whom are adventurers. As the dinner gets prepared, everyone sat around the table and ate together.

The next day, Abraham, Josephine and Filbert along with the others head down to the town to get some time off. The town was very active, even though it's not the capital of this kingdom and the fact that it's in the outskirts. Adventurers are on the streets and roaming around to buy some necessities. Merchants are selling their products to people passing by. Abraham then stopped in front of this stall selling some elixirs and potions

"Hey, young sir! This vile that has purple substance is a seduction potion. One drop of this bad boy in a drink and it will drive the person that drank it crazy over you. It costs 50 silver." Says the merchant.

Abraham was interested in this potion with stars sparkling in his eyes. Josephine sighed as her son is up to his crazy antics again,

"Come here!" Josephine scolded as she dragged her son back to the group "You're too young for that, and besides, you shouldn't be interested in those things!" Josephine snapped as Abraham apologized.

Pablo then blamed Angelica for Abraham having such interests then Angelica trapped him in her wind magic and lifted him up to the air and then dropped him on top of this house. The group explored the bustling town until they reached what Filbert and his guild members were looking for. It was a weapons store. They went in the store as the bell of the door rang. Abraham was immediately fascinated by the different types of weapons inside this shop. There are shields, lances, spears, swords and many more.

"Uh, how much is this short sword?" Filbert asked the store keeper.

The store keeper took the sword and checked its specifications,

"Oh, an E class sword, only good for training kids. I believe that you will be training that kid who is googling over the weapons which is your son, I suppose? Well, I will give this sword to you for 35 silver." Says the store keeper.

Filbert tried to bargain, but the store keeper told him that even though it's only a training sword, it can be used to kill low class monsters also, so, the price is only right for this sword. Filbert took out his pouch of money as he then paid for the sword. Filbert then approached his son who has his eyes glued on the weapons,

"Here son, sorry for the late birthday present, but here. Your first real sword." Filbert smiled.

Abraham accepted the sword inside the scabbard. He drew the sword carefully as he looked at awe on it. The sword was finely made by the blade smith that Abraham could see his reflection on the blade itself.

"Thanks, Dad!" Abraham cheered as he then put the sword back in its scabbard and then he hugged his father.

To Abraham, this truly is the best life he could ever wish for. As everyone has now purchased what they were supposed to, they then went straight to a tavern nearby to eat lunch. After going to the town, the Warlock family went back up their house up the hill while the others went back to the guild to accept some jobs to make a living. As they returned, Abraham immediately tested his new sword. He swung the sword down. It was a bit heavy since it's now made of steel, but overall, he felt comfortable with it. Filbert and Josephine who standing just by the door of their house was happy to see that their son is enjoying Filbert's gift, even though it's a sword and not actually a gift for children. But since Abraham has a dream of becoming a great adventurer someday, his parents accepted it and will support him all the way, no matter what adventurer he becomes. But that doesn't mean they'll tolerate him when he does something wrong. They'll just be there for him and make sure that he doesn't regret anything and not make any rash decisions.

⚔️⚔️⚔️

Hours trickled by quickly, as it was already a starry night. Abraham was in his room and was looking out his window and staring at the lovely night sky. He was so lucky to have been given a second chance like this. But this happy family life would end once he becomes an adventurer someday. Not that it will end completely, but it will be a bit different because of his adventures as a mage. As he started to doze off while looking at the stars, he suddenly felt something. His already closed eyes opened up so suddenly and with a clap of thunder, him along with his room got hit by lightning. As the room was left into ruins, Filbert and Josephine who were sleeping in their room rushed to the room of their son and was shocked to see that their son is levitating and some sparks are coming out of his hands. Filbert fell on his knees as he laughed his shock off,

"How can this be possible? Magic at this age should show the signs only. But how did it wake up that early?" Filbert claimed as he started to break into sweat.

Abraham Warlock has just awakened his magic. And he has a rare magic attribute.
