8. Salkatar Prison Sarania

"Oh good you are awake now.", The lady said.

Alora couldn't move her body. She was laying on the cold hard prison floor. She tried to speak, her mouth didn't move. She grunted loudly trying to speak, her mouth couldn't utter the words.

"Palrugos.", the lady said, "An old paralysis spell used by mages during the war of ages."

The lady smiled and paced around the small prison cell.

"I don't think we've properly met Princess.", she said, "I am Jade, daughter of Emperor Sebastien and hand to the Emperor. We've been monitoring your resistance movement for years now, every move you made we watched."

Alora tried moving again. Her fingers twitched and she grunted even louder.

"The spell will wear off eventually. If I were you I wouldn't fight it.", She bent down and faced Alora.

"I thought we killed every royal but here I am in the midst of the princess herself.", she said, "Never did I think that a royal was even in the resistance but again here I am surprised. Father is going to love this."

Alora grunted even louder and her eyes were twitching profusely. She was struggling and tried to move around. A burning sensation lit up her entire being. She was in agonising pain and all she could was grunt.

"I told you don't fight it. How I wish I could see you suffer but the scars prevent me from doing so.", she said, "But unfortunately sensing and feeling your undying pain is satisfying enough. Father's favourite new prisoner."

Jade got up and dusted herself off. She walked to the cell door.

"Warden!", she shouted.

The warden came rushing down. Warden O'Connor, he had gained lots of weight ever since the Vallath occupied Sarania. His once flat belly protruded out of his shirt. One of the perks of being an honour war hero, you dine like a king for the rest of your days and so does your family. He opened the cell door and bowed before Jade.

"Warden O'Connor", she said, "Please ensure that you keep our prison safely. She's a royal. I will be back for her in a fortnight to take her to the Emperor."

"Yes madam."

"Strip her off all her belongings and keep her under your strict surveillance. She's never out of sight not even for a moment."

"Understood."

"I must go now."

Jade walked out of the prison cell. O'Connor grabbed Alora and pulled her paralyzed body up. He dragged her on his shoulders. She watched Jade walk away. She got back the feeling in her jaw.

"You- killed- him", she said softly under the wind.

Jade stopped she heard what Alora had said. She continued walking away.

"Yo-u kil-led him!", Alora shouted.

Jade faded away at the edge of the long prison hall.

O'Connor found dragging Alora's still body heavy. He was barely standing straight and his knees were wobbly.

"Officers!", he shouted.

Two young prison guards came running from upstairs. O'Connor placed Alora on the ground and she just stared aimlessly at the cold floor. The two prison guards picked her up.

"Where should we take her sir?", one of the guards asked.

"Wing D and toss her in any cell that has a free bunk."

"Are you sure sir?", the other guard asked.

"Of course I am you fool.", O'Connor said, "Now take the prisoner."

The warden left the guards and went off to his office. The guards placed her arms on their shoulders. They dragged her around the vast and endless prison. They climbed several flights of stairs and finally reached the infamous wing D.

Wing D of Salkatar Prison had been home to many of Sarania's worst for four hundred years. Dangerous mages that have been spoken about in old Saranian folktales slept in the cold cells of the wing. Men and Fairies alike that had tormented Sarania slept in those cells and most famously the Last Vampire King himself was a resident of the cell before his execution before the leaders of the western continent.

They walked along the corridors and saw the dangerous criminals that were on the end of the cages, Mages of all kinds, dangerous men that thrived on violence and a few fairies that caused trouble where they shouldn't have.

They reached the end of the corridor and to their left was a cell with an empty bottom bunk and an occupied top bunk.

They latched open the door and placed Alora on the bottom bunk.

A head popped out at the edge of the top bunker. The guards were startled and they both fell to the ground. She was a fairy, she had gentle green eyes and long hazel coloured hair. She jumped off the bunker and towered over the guards nearly reaching the ceiling.

"I told the warden I hate sharing!", she shouted, "Now you bring this bitch. Get her out."

"I'm so-so-sorry lady Walna.", the guard said with a shiver in his voice, "The warden's orders."

"He can go die under the sun for all I care. I need my space."

Lady Walna turned her attention to bunker. She saw Alora in the state she was in.

"She dead or something?", lady Walna asked.

"Ju-st paralysed.", the guard was scared of lady Walna's tall and intimidating stature.

"You can leave her.", she said, "You two get out of my cell."

The guards got up on their feet and dashed out of the cell. Walna looked at Alora's eyes. She noticed the traces of magic in the corner of her eyes. It was exactly like Jade's red mist magic. Walna lifted her pillow and grabbed a potion.

She cracked open the bottle and forced the potion into Alora's mouth.

"This should help counter the spell, little one.", she said.

Alora's hands started to move again. She gained full control over her body and stood up in an outburst.

"I am going to kill her!", Alora shouted, "She's going to die for everything!"

"Slow down.", Walna said in a calming voice, "I don't know who you are but your vengeance isn't going to happen unless the person you want to kill is here. Otherwise no one leaves this place."
