Chapter 11: The 45-Minute
"Alfred, listen to me very carefully.” Logan spoke in a sudden authoritative voice that froze them. "I want Synergy Corp to go bankrupt in less than 45 minutes and it should be done immediately." Alfred didn't bother to ask why, he knew Logan had a reason for everything, "Yes, Sir." He said firmly. The call disconnected…Logan glared at the people before him. “You're all gonna pay.” Fisher looked at the security men… They all burst into laughter. "What the hell? You almost got me. You really are a great actor." Jared said in-between laughs. "Do you really think I believe this little show you just displayed? You must be dumber than I thought." He walked over to Logan and shoved a finger on his forehead. "Your desperate attempt to scare me only proved how foolish you are. If you had used that time you wasted and went on your knees to beg me, I would have considered rehiring you but with what you just displayed, it will never happen." Logan shoved Jared's finger away from his he
Chapter 12: On His Knees
Meanwhile, at the gate, most of the internal staff members were watching a scene which was happening outside with awe and amazement. Logan had gained the upper hand and singlehandedly beat his colleagues that were harassing him. He refused to be a pushover because he wasn't working for them anymore. Francis took a step back when he saw that Logan was the one winning. He never expected for Logan to be the one winning, he growled, stomping his feet. "Why are you all useless? Such a small task, and you all failed to carry it out." The security guards were also shocked too. They couldn't explain how Logan could singlehandedly take them down. His power was quite scary. "What the hell is going out here?" Jared's furious deep voice echoed, gaining everyone's attention. Francis' face lit up when he saw that it was the company's general manager. "Sir, I'm equally shocked as you are." He rushed over to his side. "This man is really barbaric. If I had known earlier that this is his true
Chapter 13: The Demand
Logan looked at the man who was bowing to him, then he looked at everyone who was watching, a grin of satisfaction flashed across his face. He was purposely stalling so that Francis would remain in that position a little longer. Francis on the other hand, was dying of embarrassment. He gritted his teeth as he remained bowing to Logan. He wondered how things had come to this. The table had really turned because some hours ago, they had the upper hand but now, even the general manager was scared of Logan. Logan covered his mouth as he faked a yawn. "That's enough. No need to bow anymore. You're already looking pathetic and it's making my eyes sore. Get lost!" Francis couldn't control his anger, he clenched his fists and glared hatefully at Logan but there was nothing he could do but curse the young man in his heart. When Jared heard what Logan said, he released a sigh of relief as he rushed over to Logan. "I'm so glad to hear you say this, Mr Mitchell. Please, come to my office, l
Chapter 14: The New Boss
The two and the half hour period which Logan gave them was almost over. Fisher quickly had the company's lawyer draft up a company within the next few minutes. Luckily, these lawyers knew their jobs. Jared rushed back into his office with the contract in hand. It was the last minute. The man was so out of breath and looked haggard. "You were almost late." Logan said under his breath, he looked completely unbothered as he cleaned his nails. He looked at Jared's condition nonchalantly, he looked refreshed and clean thanks to the new clothes which were given to him by the manager. "Apologies, Mr Mitchell. It took a lot of effort to get everything ready for you." Jared said, breathlessly. One could tell that he barely exercised his body. After saying this, he carefully handed over the contract to Logan who patiently went through it. Jared was sweating but he watched with surprise how Logan went through the terminologies of the contract. He was grateful that he did not add anythin
Chapter 15: The Fake Smile
Ava's eyes softened when she saw that Logan wasn't looking at her. He turned his face away from her and then she saw a faint slap mark which she had given him earlier. Another wave of guilt crashed down on her. Then she saw him leaving the room. "Where are you going?" "To get us something to eat." He said flatly, his voice carried no emotion. Logan left the ward to a public cafe to get the takeouts he ordered for him and his wife, then Alfred's message came in. "Sir, I've reinstated Synergy Corp to its former position." He was about to reply when he heard two familiar voices behind him. "Hey, isn't that my handsome son-in-law I'm seeing over there?” "What are you saying, mom? Of course, it's Logan. Is there anyone that can be as dashing as he is?" Logan turned around stiffly only to see Leslie Cooper, his mother-in-law and Stacy Cooper, his sister-in-law watching him, the weirdest thing was that they were smiling at him or pretending to, at least. Logan almost thought they we
Chapter 16: The Truth Dismissed as a Lie
Logan turned back to them and said to Leslie in a low voice, "I think it's quite… Good, but your proposal will need a lot of polishing in it if you really want a company like Astral Corp to invest their money into your business." "I don't need your opinion on my proposal." She said with a displeased look. "What do you even know about business?" She quickly held her tongue before she said any more insulting words. She really needed his help so for now, she needed to behave. Logan sucked in a breath, "That can be arranged." He decided that it was no use hiding the truth from them since it would be revealed in the future anyways. "The CEO is my family's trusted steward, so getting you to meet him is nothing." The smile on Leslie's face morphed into a look of anger. "What the heck are you saying?" Logan was shocked about her sudden change in reaction. Did he say something wrong? Stacy suddenly began to laugh. "I told you not to come to this fool for help, mom. Now, look at him
Chapter 17: The Weight of a Father’s Regret
"Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.” Logan whispered, almost tearing up. Then he remembered the conversation he had with Leslie and Stacy at the cafeteria. He didn't want to do it, but for Ava, he instructed Alfred. "I need you to give feedback to Smile Corporation on the proposal that the deputy sales director has been trying to get you onboard with. You can instruct them on how to update their proposal and the amount you want to pour into the business, I'll leave it to your capable hands." "Very well sir but if I may ask, the deputy sales director is your mother-in-law, isn't it?" Logan sighed as he shook his head. "If you already know this, then why ask again, Alfred? I already know you ran a background check on me." Alfred chuckled softly. "You seem to know me very well, sire. If that is all, I'll get to work now." The elevator dinged and he stepped out with the phone still in his ears. "Thank you very much, butler Alfred." He said discreetly, not wanting th
Chapter 18: The Fraudulent Favor
Meanwhile, at the Cooper family house. Leslie Cooper was shaking when she was on the phone with someone. "This is such great news. Thank you so much for reconsidering my proposal. I'll make sure to rewrite it before sending it to your company. Thank you." Stacy walked into the living room to see her getting out of a phone call and screaming in joy. "Oh my God, Mom. What was that for?" She asked, covering her ears with her hands. "You won't believe who I was talking to just now." Leslie rushed over to her daughter and held her hand. " Astral Corp’s headquarters just called me and they expressed their interest in accepting my proposal." "Oh my, that's good news. How did it happen?" Leslie thought for a minute and then looked at her daughter with a smile. "It was none other than Adriana Lima. I'm sure she did all this. Guess her father does have connections after all." Then Stacy saw her picking up her bag and car keys. "But where are you going, mom?" "To the hospital, dea
Chapter 19: New Heart, Old Misunderstandings
Logan was beyond amused that he almost burst out laughing, Adriana was taking the glory for what he did. However, instead of exposing her lies, he decided to watch and see how well she faked it "You're too kind Adriana, unlike some people who tried to lie and deceive us about having a familial relationship with the CEO." Stacy said, giving Logan a hateful glare. "Just ignore that clown." Leslie said, sneering at Logan. "A lowlife like you who tried to claim Astral Corp's CEO is your butler. How pathetic." Ava walked over to Adriana with a warm smile. "You helped my family and I would like to repay that. How about I buy you dinner? Please, don't refuse me." "Okay, I won't refuse you but if you don't mind, I'll be bringing my older brother. He has always wanted to meet you. If that's okay with you…" Adriana requested and glanced at Logan. Ava agreed immediately. Logan watched how his wife made plans to have dinner with this ridiculous woman and her stupid brother the coming day.
Chapter 20: The Rejected Truth and Confrontation
Logan looked at the resentment in his wife's eyes then began to explain. “Ava, the truth is… I'm not who you think I am. I belong to a very powerful family, and I'm the heir to the business empire. The headquarters is being controlled by my family's butler named Alfred Alfonso. So you see, I'm a….” “Shut up, you liar!” Ava angrily grabbed her pillow and threw it at Logan's face. “That's it! I can't stand seeing your face right now.” She pointed at the bedroom door. “I want you to get out! You're sleeping in the living room tonight until you stop trying to feed me all this nonsense, you're not sleeping anywhere near me!” Logan was speechless. He would have persisted but he could tell that Ava was too tired for this conversation, so he got up and left. Mia finally woke up the next day and cried when she saw her parents. Logan and Ava couldn't hold in their emotions when they hugged their daughter. It took two weeks of proper monitoring before the doctors officially discharged M
