Paul was a middle-class boy, lived with his stepfather and mother, and was addicted to video games. He had short, scruffy black hair, brown eyes, was thin. A typical video game player, he was also an anime fan.

He was going to high school like any other kid his age, but one day he went to the video game store to buy a new game. They had already played all kinds of basic games, and those that had just come out, but among them all, he saw a limited edition demo of a kind of dark fantasy game. He picked up the package it came in. So he looked at it, it looked kind of attractive, although he wasn't sure what it was, he took it to the cash register. Where a man attended the place.

That guy was an adult of about 30 years old who was dressed in very colorful clothes.

-Kid, this is not for sale, it's a demo, the game has a very high difficulty, only for adults.

-I don't care, I want to play it. I'm bored already. I passed all the games I bought a month ago. I'll be 18 in a year.

-I'm sorry kid, I can't sell it to you, it's not for teenagers, it's for adults.

The man was not willing to sell it to him, however at that moment a group of young people arrived looking for a console and distracted him.

Paul noticed that there were several action and adventure games, so he simply switched the CDs, without him realizing it.

However, he felt strange when he saw the cover of the CD, it looked like a rather dark video game, which encouraged him to play.

So he decided to go ahead with his idea and handed him the case of the video game he was going to buy and the one he was going to return. The guy selling in the store didn't notice the change as he was too distracted at the time.

[...]

Paul arrived home in a hurry and wanted to try the video game he was so curious about. He entered the room without taking off his uniform. He simply went to his computer and put the CD there.

Suddenly he felt strange and his room started to change color. He looked at his hands and it looked like he was spinning. He looked around and he was no longer in the city. He was already in a place that seemed to be a medieval place.

From one moment to the next he saw several announcements.

Paul felt a bit intimidated watching the in-game ads. Although he found it fun to be here for quite some time, but he was discouraged to see that he might die in this place. So he saw a button to skip the tutorial and pressed it. He was determined to finish the game quickly, he already had enough experience in other games and maybe in a week he would finish this one.

However the game started to guide him to a house, and he saw two adults who seemed to be his parents in this world. They started talking to him.

-Hello Paul, you must go to school there you will learn a lot about magic.

They were the typical dialogues of the parents of that world. They both looked a bit sick and tired, they had the same brown hair color, besides their black eyes. Paul skipped all the dialogues, pressing a button. He saw that the house was in bad shape. It had cracks and a lot of humidity. It was a place similar to the abandoned areas. He just took a kind of staff that he saw there, as the game indicated it and left the house.

Outside he saw hundreds of gothic style buildings and many people dressed in medieval clothing. Paul was very surprised, they were no longer in the concrete city with dozens of cars coming and going everywhere. With the excitement he felt, he preferred to change the course of the game and just explore the place and maybe stay and live here.

He saw how there were people with hoods walking near him and giving each other various magical objects. It was something very striking for that boy so he followed them, but as he followed them. Out of nowhere a barrier appeared that limited him to the quietest part of the city. So he could not go. He tried to see the tutorial on his menu screen, but it was no longer available.

At that moment he decided to go to school and learn more about this world so he could go to other places.

[...]

He walked through several places until he reached the school. Which was a pretty organized place, it had the gothic style than the other buildings, so he walked in the door like it was nothing. He noticed that he had not put on a uniform with a dark blue shirt and the rest of the black clothes. He was dressed like a commoner, but he didn't care, he just wanted to learn a few things and maybe he wouldn't go there again.

All the young people looked at him as if he was someone strange, but he didn't care much. He just walked around and saw some kids his age standing in a doorway. He decided to go in and look. It was a rather large amphitheater classroom, there were dozens of students in front of him. They all looked at him in a rather strange way.

However, he continued as if nothing happened and sat down on a chair and waited for the class to begin.

In front of him appeared several dialogues that he skipped and when he looked in front of him there was already the professor standing in the center of the place. He was a rather old man, had a sorcerer's cap and didn't look very happy there.

-Good morning, welcome to Jared Ackerman's school. Here you will learn how to do magic.

In one of his hands fire started to come out and in a moment it was extinguished. On the blackboard was a bunch of basic spell text.

Paul was amazed at what he saw, but as he continued to listen to the man speak, he was quite upset.

-The commoners have almost no magic, so they have to do a lot of effort and training on the side.

When the boy heard that, he thought about who his family was and that he was probably just another commoner, the game had given him the worst role. He tried to calm down and continued listening to the teacher's class, but without omitting the dialogues that he did at the beginning. He was no longer enjoying being in this world.

That man took a staff and began to recite certain words. Immediately a puddle of water appeared on the floor. He cast a simple spell with the words he had written on the board. The whole room was amazed.

-Now Richard Vorbote, come and do it too.

Paul looked back and I saw this Richard come down. He looked like a rich boy, he had jewelry on his neck and hands, and many girls were looking at him. That boy was serious, he was starting to worry, he knew this was not going to be as easy as he thought. His role in the game was too difficult. He wanted to leave when he saw that he was nobody in that place, but he noticed that the magic was not so difficult.

The game explained to him by means of an energy bar. Richard Vorbote, used only a percentage of the one he had. At that time he only had half of the magic bar and only used a certain amount. So Paul wanted to try it, but no one else would see it.

That guy who was giving the demonstration in front of everyone. He made a few drops of water appear on the floor.

Paul stood looking carefully at everything that happened, he felt very curious. He thought about reading books to learn more about this world, since his immaturity meant that he didn't have the necessary knowledge to advance much in the game. So he just stayed tuned to everything his teacher was saying.

When he left the classroom and went to the school library. There he experienced a rather uncomfortable situation.

Many upperclassmen were giving him dirty looks and suddenly someone spoke to him to humiliate him. It was a young man with black hair, quite tall, green eyes and glasses.

-Hey, you can't be here. You filthy commoner.

Paul tried to avoid them, he knew it was a game, but things became difficult. They grabbed him by the shirt and dragged him out in front of everyone. Neither the teachers nor the adults at the school tried to intervene.

Paul didn't understand how the video game was so realistic in many ways. So he tried to fight one of them, but they managed to prevent him from moving with a strange spell. There they took the opportunity and hit him several times. Until they got tired. The game sent him a warning immediately to prevent that from happening to him again.

The young man got up the floor and tried to ignore what happened, he just went to a place to rest a little. It was a kind of park where students hardly passed by.

He looked at the wounds on his body and still didn't believe that the game had so many restrictions. He was still at level 1 and had too much to go, he didn't want to slowly level up. It seemed very complicated to him.

He opened the options menu and saw that he had to do quests to level up quickly. He had to finish the school archway and clear dungeons that would cost him money, to buy potions. He needed a lot of money to level up by doing this kind of quests.

Unfortunately the video game limited him to do a lot of things still, and he had a very precarious life. It was the worst role he had ever had.

So he decided to skip the rules and level up by doing some quests and borrowing books without permission.

[...]

Paul waited for nightfall and went to the city library. He broke in and started looking for magic books. He looked at one that talked about fire and how to create it. He grabbed it and just by touching it he learned how to create such spells. So he decided to take everything he found and little by little he leveled up.

By early morning he was level 10 and knew several types of elemental magic. The game allowed him to learn the basics and level up, but for what he needed it wasn't much.

He had tried to leave the books where he found them, but he couldn't remember their order. So he simply left them as he saw fit.

Before anyone arrived he left the place and returned to the dump where he lived very calm and happy. He wanted to reach level 50 in less than a month, but when he arrived home he saw several royal guards there.

He preferred not to go near that place. Apparently they were looking for him. Paul got a little scared and preferred not to go back there. He knew it was probably for taking the books from the library. Now he was more convinced to skip the rules of the game and level up in his own way.

He went down another street and avoided the royal guards. He saw that where he was passing there was a cart with several bags of money. So he took two, the game immediately counted them and put them in his inventory. He had almost five thousand coins, enough to buy staffs, wands, books and potions to level up. So he simply took more bags of money. Until he reached five hundred thousand.

He felt very happy. He could level up quickly, but immediately the system told him what he was doing. One of the statistics had been set to -27.

It didn't seem important to Paul, so he went off to kill creatures to level up more. Before that he went to a store where an old wizard was attending. L he had thousands of strange things that even the young man did not know.

-I need fifty elixirs and a staff.

The man gave them to him without asking and the game discounted him almost 150,000 coins.

Paul did not regret the loss of money, he just saw it as a kind of investment.

[...]

The game allowed Paul to get to the outskirts of the city, but would not let him go anywhere else. It put a warning on him right away.

Paul chuckled a little, he knew that if he managed to climb in one day to that level he could leave without any problem. So he looked for the most dangerous monsters on the outskirts.

There were wolves and bears level 15. Paul knew that if he defeated them he could level up a lot. So he decided to face them with all the magic he had learned.

In the middle of the bushes he saw a pack of wolves and cast a fire spell to defeat them, but what he didn't know was that this was not an object that would stay still. The animals dodged it and pounced on it.

They managed to reach him and wounded him, one of them bit his hand and other wolves went towards him. Paul in his surprise froze them all with his magic.

-Freeze complete -was his spell.

A good part of the forest froze and the wolves disintegrated. All at once the game raised his experience until he reached level 14, but the wound Paul had was quite serious.

He grabbed his arm and looked at the wound.

On top of that it looked like he had an infection in his body and it was taking about 5 health points every ten minutes. Paul took an elixir out of his inventory so he wouldn't die, but despite taking one. His health was still slowly dropping.

Seeing that he decided to elixir and go to the city again and look for an antidote.

He got up from the ground and watched as little by little the ice began to melt and everything remained as if nothing had happened. The bodies of the wolves were slowly disappearing.

[...]

When he returned to the city, he noticed that there were posters on every corner. There was his face, besides that in each of them had a specific message "Thief Wanted".

Paul decided to buy elixir and antidotes, not to return to this city and finish it faster.

He walked all over the place, but tried to keep his face down so no one would notice him. He knew the game algorithm wasn't too smart to know who he was, and he could avoid getting caught. When he found an elixir store he bought over fifty elixirs and antidotes. So he took one of each to regain his health.

He was ready to fight again, so he just needed to go back to the outskirts and look for more wolves and monsters to fight. He estimated that he only had to fight ten times and to reach level sixteen.
