CHAPTER 3

Not remembering what happened, Alexander is now standing in a dimly lit hall. He can see statues of different gods and goddesses and mainly of those are the Olympians. Alexander looked around the hall and remembered what had happened. He collapsed after the battle with the cyclops, it is because of pure exhaustion and the severe injuries he suffered from the fight. But he hopes that the cyclops head really came off because if it didn’t, then it would definitely rampage through their town and devour the citizens for sure. Thinking he is now dead and in a hall which the dead waits for it to be brought to the underworld. And this when Alexander regrets to die. Thoughts of how would his mother and grandmother survive without him working for them, who would take care of them, and all sorts of things that his grandmother and mother can’t do that he can. His chest ached and tears started to flow down his eyes. With him not being able to come back alive anymore made him sat on the floor hard and cried like a baby. After crying for about 2 minutes, Alexander heard footsteps coming from above. He looked up at the balcony which wasn’t there earlier and stood up. Then he wiped the tears off of his face and waited for someone to appear from that balcony. It might be the one who will bring him to the underworld, but he anticipated its arrival as he would like to speak some final words that he would like to reach his mother. Finally, someone or some thing appeared. It was a black figure that is also emitting black smoke. It gave Alexander the goosebumps and made him shiver. He had never seen a figure like this before, but he somehow found it calming and is like comforting him and most importantly, it was like he knows this figure.

“Don’t worry, you’re not dead. You are just here in this place to recover from the injuries you’ve sustained during that fight. You did great, Alexander.” Says the black figure.

With those words that has been given to Alexander, it was like a hundred of tons of rocks has been lifted from his shoulders and was absolutely glad about the fact that he is not dead and just recovering. Then it came rushing to him, how did this black figure know what his name is. Alexander looked up to the black figure.

“How do you know my name?!” he asked with his voice echoing all around the hall.

But the black figure didn’t answer. Instead, that figure stood there at the balcony without saying anything. Alexander asked again and he received no answer once more. Then the black figure took a deep breath.

“Well, I know your name because I’m the one who gave it to you.” It says.

Alexander nodded and sighed then thought to himself “So he was the one who named me, no big deal.”

The figure then jokingly asked on how can Alexander be so calm about what he just said.

“Why would I ask questions if you are the one who named…… Wait a minute.” Says Alexander.

Then a sudden realization made him yell. If this figure is the one who named Alexander, then this figure might be his father. Alexander immediately bombarded the black figure with questions but it answered none of it.

The black figure sighed “I don’t think that I’m the one who should tell you that. And explanations will come later, for now, you need to wake up because the royal knights are approaching.” Says the figure.

Meanwhile, in the real world. The royal knights are literally approaching the site where the fight happened. They were marching towards it wearing their clattering armor and holding their long and pointy lances. In front of them was another knight who was wearing an armor with bits of gold built in it. And another is that he is riding a white and majestic horse.

“We need to capture the cyclops at all cost. And if the information about someone who is fighting it, then we engage in battle immediately. Understood?!” he said to his troops and they yelled a “Yes, sir!” as a response.

Back in the dimly lit hall where Alexander is.

“Now, you must wake. Upon your awakening, you will see a basket near you. Take that with you and run till you reach your home, don’t look back nor stop. It is for your own good,” the figure said then the dimly lit hall started to ripple and disappear. Alexander was waking up and he can clearly hear the troops marching in the woods approaching him. Then the floor which Alexander is standing on disappeared and he fell. He then saw the black figure looking down as he falls.

“The answers you seek will be given to you sooner than expected. I’ll see you again, Alexander Eirenopoios.” Says the figure as it echoed.

As Alexander continues to fall, he then hit the ground below him and that waked him up. He sat up straight and was breathing heavily. Then he looked around and saw the cyclops’ headless body laying on the ground with blood all over it. At his right he saw the basket the black figure was talking about. Alexander quickly stood up and picked it up. He was about to remove the cloth that is covering the thing inside it, whatever it is when Alexander heard clopping of horse’s hoof that is approaching him quickly. Alexander then decided to not take the cover of the basket and ran to his left to reach his house since this way is the shortcut to it. It was like he hadn’t been in a fight earlier as he can now run fast and nothing is aching anymore. But then he touched his face and it was still swollen. But worrying about it now is not a good idea since if the black figure is telling the truth, then Alexander can’t afford to be caught by the royal knights. He ran as fast as he can and tried to reach the end of the woods in minutes. And finally, the knights have reached their destination and all that welcomed them was a cyclops’ cold corpse on the ground and its head is nowhere to be found. The one who is mounting a horse got off and took his helmet off. It revealed a handsome man with curly brown hair.

“Someone defeated this monster.” Says the knight and then looked at another on his right.

“Form a party of 10 knights. Find the one who defeated the cyclops. That person isn’t far, and that person is definitely injured and that’s what I know. Find and capture that individual. We must take him to custody for some questions, go!” ordered the man then the knight followed.

And a search party has been formed just to find Alexander. But it was too late, Alexander was already in front of their house, and is now about to open the door. When he was about to knock, he suddenly fell to his knees and felt excruciating pain all over his body. Since he needs to come inside to assure his mother that he’s alive, he forced himself to stand up and knocked on the door. Inside the house was the grandmother of Alexander and his grandmother. Both are looking at the door, anxiously waiting for Alexander to arrive. And then, someone finally knocked on the door. The grandmother then rushed towards it and opened the door and saw Alexander who immediately fell to the shoulders of his grandmother who quickly caught him. With all her strength, she dragged Alexander to a wooden bed that he made and laid him on it. Alexander’s mother got off the chair she was sitting on and crawled her way through to reach her son. She was crying. She looked at the beat-up body of Alexander and tears fell uncontrollably. The grandmother then quickly went to the door to close when she realized a basket outside. Thinking that this basket is Alexander’s, she brought it in, closed and locked the door and every window.

“What happened?! Alex?! My son?!” bellowed the mother as she held the hand of Alexander.

With the basket in the grandmother’s hand and out of curiosity, she took of the cloth that is covering something inside the basket. And as she took it off, it revealed something that made her put the basket on the ground nervously and slowly. She was trembling, she then looked at Jane and called her.

“J-Jane, l-look.” Says the terrified grandmother.

Even though she is focused on her son right now, she looked around and saw it and immediately covered her mouth. What they saw was the severed head of the cyclops.
