Chapter 27

Quickly, I followed her, I ran behind her.

It was a trick to get me to the end of the tunnel, she said to me, though I was not too happy with it, but it was a good one.

There were three tunnels left, we have to get to the one, where the RedCap is, we waited for another sound again. I casted lot for it, it chose the one we were coming from. We abandoned the idea and Kyar pulled a brick again, and struck it with her dagger, it broke in shreds with a loud noise, that echoed through the tunnels.

We heard another sound, luckily. It crept out of the one we were closest to. We rushed in, checked how long the tunnel went. We entered into it. Watching every steps and looking every corner before each steps. We walked farther and farther, till we came to the end of the tunnel, which was very dark.

The only sound that came from the tunnel was that of the drops of water, that was dripping from the cracked spots in the wall of the tunnel. We were calm, before going into the dark place. We entered into the thick darkness. A whirring sound started and a gate came down to lock us up in the end of the tunnel. The gate was unbreakable, after couple of struggles and strength show.

Dagger, swords, punches, dragging, pulling and more of ideas that came through, were all fruitless against the gate, we couldn't move it a bit, from the ground. We joined forces and did it individually, still to no success.

After series of trying hard. A groan came from the darkness.

"Urgh" the groan came lightly at first, and then it started to surface more loudly, moaning followed but lightly too. Sounds of bones moving started to elope from the utmost darkness. We stood still, ready for anything, with no other weapons than our fist.

I forgot to use the powder I was to use, to turn into the beast form, it was with me, but I thought I had used it earlier, and it remained some few more times to turn for me in my thoughts, I didn't bother to know. Kyar slowly brought out a dagger from behind her. I watched the dagger, as it came out from it's case, behind her, the reflection of light that came through its blade.

I quietly, stopped her, from holding the dagger up. We turned it in a way, that the light ray would go through the darkness, after trying twice, the light went in to the darkness, and showed us the most amazing thing I've seen, a female spider that I read in the books of the gods history. It came to life before me.

Arachne came to life before me, it was like an adventure that came fruitful at last. I first stayed back, Kyar never knew what was making me that happy.

Slowly, illuminations, came from behind Arachne, she had been blocking the way of light, with her spider butt. The dagger was of no lighting use anymore, Kyar gripped it right for fight.

According to the story of the legends, Arachne was one of the powerful and skillfully goddess, who was skilled in work of arts and war. She was casted out and turned into a spider because of her hubris against Athena the Greek goddess of oil, peace and war, also the daughter of Zeus. Athens, the capitol of Greece is named after the Goddess Athena; she is the goddess of Wisdom and War. She is known for her strategic skill in warfare, is often portrayed as a companion of heroes, and is the patron goddess of heroic endeavour.

The hubris of Arachne against Athena was outrageous and for the cause, Arachne was turned into a spider.

Kyar's definition was very different from mine, since she was in another world. Arachne, in her world was the adopted daughter of Zeus, who wanted the throne, in place of Thor, the heir to the throne.

Arachne waged war, not against the son but to Zeus directly, whom she knows could erase her from existence with one snap of his finger. She was loved by Zeus, so much that he didn't want to hurt her. Instead, he made a great magician, casted a spell on her, to become a half human and half spider.

Arachne was in chains that was ten times bigger and looked heavier than the normal chains, but was still light, as Arachne controlled it. "What do you seek here, in the deadline of living creatures?" She asked with a trembling feminine voice, which reverberated in the tunnel.

"We didn't mean to come here, Arachne..." I swallowed, in fear, of someone who would try to kill Zeus and take the throne from Thor. "It was a mistake that I wished it never happened. We came for RedCap only."

"Yes, we only came for the mischievous Goblin, that tricked us into this place. It was no mean of coming here for gold." Kyar seconded.

"Okay, move the gate and to out NOW!" She thundered. Which was of no use, since we could not move the gate an inch. I sensed that Arachne would know that, since I could feel a movement behind us, as we tried to raise the gate up.

The first slash, that was supposed to cut me in half, clanked against the iron gate, as I dodged it. Kyar knew what was going on too. She quickly pulled out her swords and turned to her other form.

I couldn't turn, and the fight already started, Kyar managed to swing me a sword and used a dagger for herself with a sword. I managed to use it against two strong, metallic spider legs. It was a end game for me. I was weaker than the beast form.

I managed to fight it off. Quickly I remembered the powder, and went for it as I fought the spider legs off with a hand for the escape time. I reached for the powder and turned into the beast, which makes me feel like I was hulk.

I threw back Kyar's sword and had my claws do the magic. I created a fire ball after some fight and aimed for the bricks above Arachne's head, which was a success as she staggered back in a loud cry.

Kyar was surprised why I never went for the head, which would have got blown off immediately. I smiled and we ran towards Arachne, who had gain balance again. She turned around in an orbit very fast, that she almost creates a tornado in the tunnel, we got whizzed and fell back into the smelly waters, filled with some skeletons and dead rodents which were all rotten.

Arachne had her chance with us, and raise two of her legs up above us. She stung the ground, just beside our faces, that were looking at her.

"You didn't kill me when you had the chance." Arachne said. "I would not repay you with death, for that." She passed over us and unlocked the gate for us.

We thanked her gratefully and went out from her den.
