Chapter 1

MEGALOS CENTRAL.

The sun beamed upon the beautiful structures of the heart of the nation of Megalos.

Economic activity was at its peak as individuals went about their business and engaged in various occupational activities.

Megalos wasn't just a successful nation but an innovative one that housed some of the brightest minds in the world.

As the hours dragged on, the day was gradually coming to a close as the sun started to set, but unknown to the residents, something they feared would soon arise.

Boom!

Boom!

A powerful explosion rocked Megalos Central the capital of the nation as armed individuals went about on a killing spree.

"Everybody down!" An armed individual hollered at the top of his voice.

Other armed individuals fired powerful plasma beams at passers-by leading to their untimely demise.

"Another one bites the dust!" Another armed man muttered as they stormed several buildings.

These weren't just terrorists; they were superpowered. It wasn't strange to see superpowered beings in Megalos, especially after they'd become the first nation to have enhanced humans within their borders.

Chaos ensued in the capital as innocent individuals fled for their dear lives hoping they would witness salvation from the incoming destruction.

A young man ran as fast as he could as he held up a button mobile device dialing a number on it.

His mind ran faster than his feet and his heart pounded within his chest as sweat covered his entire body.

"Dylan.... Dylan.... Please pick up!" He uttered with urgency in his voice.

Cars were burning and shops were being looted by miscreants as the terrorists continued their rampage across the city.

The young man arrived at a lonely alley and kept on running hoping he would get to his home in time.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

His shoes copulated with the concrete road to create tapping sounds as his eyes darted in every direction seeking answers to the questions in his mind.

'Is my brother safe?'

'Will he survive this?'

'What the hell is going on?'

It didn't take long before his quick footsteps led him to an apartment building where he saw plumes of smoke trailing from his apartment window.

His eyes widened in shock.

"DYLAN! DYLAN!" He cried in agony.

The young man was none other than Ryan David and he was concerned about his younger brother, whom he'd left at home before he departed for work.

It didn't take long before one of the armed individuals burst through the building shattering the glass and bricks.

"Another lifeform wasted!" He uttered as he had a firm grip on the neck of a young boy still in his teenage years.

Snap!

He dropped the lifeless body on the cold hard ground and departed swiftly leaving a trail of red light.

Ryan ran towards the body and saw the horrific picture that was painted before his very eyes.

It was then that it dawned on him..

'Dylan is dead and gone!' He heard his mind utter inwardly.

His body trembled as sorrow held the reins of his heart and he realised that the only one who made him have a broad smile every day was now dead.

"DYLAAAAAAAAAAAN!" He hollered in tears as he beheld a dead body in front of him.

He'd lost his own brother to a group of hooligans whom the government had seemingly ignored tackling for years.

Ryan wept uncontrollably as his eyes were bloodshot due to an excess of tears that now came out of them.

He'd lost his parents several years ago to the very same terror group and all this happened while he was in the university struggling financially to finish up.

The news broke that he'd lost his Mum and his Dad due to a terror attack by a group of superpowered terrorists called the Typhoon.

The Typhoon had hurt his family deeply and had caused a lot of damage emotionally to Ryan.

Now they'd taken another member of his family from him. Ryan's mind flashed with several pictures of the losses he had due to the very same group that terrorised the citizens of Megalos for years.

These images that flashes in his mind included those of his biological parents that he'd lost in one of the terrorist attacks.

Ryan had lost consciousness later on after the shock of the heartbreak had finally hit him to his very core.

It didn't take long before Health Services arrived taking away Dylan's body and rushing Ryan to the nearest hospital.

Ryan's body was later kept on a hospital bed where he received ample attention from professionals in the Medical field.

The Television's speakers boomed with a feminine voice.

"This is Channel 9 News Update. The attack by the criminal group known as the Typhoon in Megalos Central has been condemned by the Provincial Governor Mr Colt Bondson. This attack claimed the lives of two hundred and fifty individuals alone and efforts are being made by the government to tackle this threat." The reporter said as she read the report.

It didn't take long before Ryan woke up and looked around noticing he was now in a hospital ward.

'It must be the shock of seeing Dylan die that affected me to the extent I must've lost consciousness.' Ryan uttered inwardly as he wore a saddened expression.

It didn't take long before a tall man in a white lab coat walked in with a stethoscope hanging on his neck.

He had a low-cut beard and full brown hair.

He looked at Ryan with an apathetic gaze as he'd seen lots of these cases before and even worse.

"Mr Ryan you lost consciousness after witnessing the death of your teenage brother and I express my deepest condolences. You were successfully resuscitated with our expert medical teams on the ground. You'd be back on your feet very soon." The man said as he stared at him expecting a response of some kind.

"Doctor is my brother truly dead?" Ryan inquired with tears threatening to burst from his eyelids.

"He suffered heavy bleeding from several stabs by those criminals and it's unlikely that he'll survive it. He's already dead as we speak and his body will be prepared for a proper burial at the Megalos City Cemetery." The Doctor responded maintaining his cold appearance.

Ryan heaved a sigh and let the tears flow freely as he felt a deep hollow within him.

'The Typhoon will pay for every one that they took from me. I wouldn't stop until every one of them is neutralised in a permanent sense.' Ryan uttered inwardly as he'd set his heart to go after the Typhoon.

"Ryan!" The doctor's words shattered his focus on his thoughts.

"Yes sir," Ryan replied.

"In two days, you will be discharged and you need to have a lot of rest. It's hard I know but that's just the reality we find ourselves in." The doctor said as he left the hospital ward.

Ryan heaved a sigh.

"This isn't over!"
