Chapter 1. Outcast
Xavier Hale stood at the periphery of the grand party, his eyes sweeping across the room with a mix of disdain and longing. The lavish decorations, the cacophony of conversation, and the clinking of glasses seemed to mock him, a constant reminder of his position in his family. His mother, Alicia, a stunning woman with piercing green eyes, laughed and chatted with the other guests, her beauty and charm captivating everyone around her. But Xavier knew the truth - she was a mistress, a mere plaything for the powerful Mafia lord, Donatello Hale.
"Xavier, darling, come join us!" his mother called out, her voice dripping with sweetness, like honey. Despite all the mistreatment she received from the other women in the Hale family, she still treated Xavier like a treasure that could not be exchanged for anything. Xavier hesitated, knowing he didn't belong. The weight of his mother's expectant gaze forced him to move forward, his feet heavy with reluctance, as if trudging through quicksand. As he approached, a group of kids his age, all sons and daughters of high-ranking Mafia members, snickered and whispered among themselves, casting dirty glances his way like daggers. Xavier's jaw clenched, his fists tightening in his pockets like a vice. He was used to being an outcast, but it still stung, the pain of rejection and humiliation simmering just below the surface. "Hey, bastard, what are you doing here?" one of them sneered, a tall, muscular boy with a cruel grin, his voice like a rusty gate scraping against Xavier's nerves. "Just enjoying the party," Xavier replied, his voice even, but his heart racing like a wild animal trapped in a cage. The boy laughed, a harsh, mocking sound. "What does a bastard and beggar like you have to enjoy in a party meant for true Mafia scions. You don't belong here. You're not one of us." Xavier's eyes flashed with anger, but he knew better than to fight back. He was alone, and the Hale family wouldn't hesitate to crush him like an insect under their heel. For the sake of his mother, he must remain docile. Suddenly, a hand clamped on his shoulder, spinning him around like a puppet on a string. Xavier faced his half-brother, Marco, a sneer twisting his face like a grotesque mask. "You don't belong here, bastard," Marco spat, his voice low and menacing, like a snake slithering through the grass. Marco's eyes blazed with contempt. "You're nothing but a dirty secret, a reminder of our father's weakness. You're a stain on our family's name, a bastard child who shouldn't even exist." Marco's words stung him real deep. Shame and anger danced around Xavier's heart. Xavier's mother appeared, her eyes flashing with anger. "Marco, leave him alone!" she demanded, her voice firm but trembling with emotion. Xavier could she was scared but still stood up for him. Marco sneered at her. "You're just as guilty, whore. You and your bastard son are a disgrace to our family. You're the reason our father's lost respect, why our family's reputation is tarnished." Marco didn't hold back at all. The room fell silent, all eyes on the tense scene unfolding before them. The guests were a bit excited as they anticipated a good show. Meanwhile Xavier's face burned with shame and anger, but he knew he had to keep his head down, to survive. "Enough, Marco!" A voice full of power and authority boomed out. Donatello Hale, tall, muscular, handsome, with eyes cold and hard as steel. "Leave Xavier alone. He's still a Hale, after all." Marco's sneer faltered, but his eyes still burned with hatred. "For now, he's still a Hale," he muttered, before turning and disappearing into the crowd like a snake slithering into the shadows. Xavier's mother placed a gentle hand on her son's arm. "I'm sorry, darling. I wish things were different." Xavier shrugged, his heart heavy. "It's okay, mother. I'm used to it." But deep down, he knew he couldn't take much more of this life, always living in the shadows, always an outcast. Something had to change. He needed to change his life and that of his mother's. Donatello Hale approached them, his presence commanding attention. He was the current helmsman of the Hale family, and thus he commanded much respect from everyone. "Xavier, come with me," he said, his voice firm leaving no room for questions or discussion. Xavier followed him, his heart racing with anticipation. What did his father want from him? As they walked, the crowd parted, whispers and stares following them like a dark cloud. Xavier felt like a specimen under a microscope, examined and judged by everyone around him. They reached a private room, the door closing behind them like a trap. Donatello Hale turned to him, his eyes piercing. "Xavier, I know you're not like the others. You have a fire in you, a spark that can be fanned into a flame. I want to help you cultivate that spark, to make you a true Hale." Xavier's heart skipped a beat. What did his father have planned for him? "There's a business transaction I want you to oversee. Do this successfully and no one would ever look down on you ever again." Donatello said. "Really father? What sort of business transaction if I may ask?" Xavier asked in curiosity, this was exactly what he need - something to prove himself as a capable Hale. But instead his father's brows creased as if he had committed a crime. "You have no right to know. But I will tell you this, the merchandise is of great importance that even ten of your lifetime isn't enough to redeem it should you fail." His father said in a stern tone. "Yes Father. I will not fail you. I will not throw away this opportunity you have given to me." Xavier said and bowed his head. "Go and prepare, you leave at once. Edgar will drive you." His father said, dismissing him. Xavier bowed again and left his father alone in the study. Seeing that Xavier has left. Donatello brought out his mobile phone and dialled a number. "He's on his way. Make it swift and clean. He will be with a driver, you have my permission to clean off all witnesses." He then hung up. "I'm sorry Xavier, but even I can't tolerate this anymore. I assure you that in two years your mother will join you and keep you company." Donatello said to himself with an emotionless face.Expand

Rise Of The Mafia Lord Brewing Storm
Xavier was in the middle of a intense training session with Maximus. He was sweating and panting, but he didn't stop. He kept pushing himself, determined to become stronger.Just as he was about to take a break, his phone rang. He looked at the screen and saw that it was Victor LaGraine, the head of the LaGraine family.Xavier answered the call, curious about what Victor wanted. "Hey, Victor. What's up?""Xavier, I need to talk to you about something," Victor said, his voice serious. "I think it's best if you lay low for the meantime."Xavier was taken aback. "What do you mean? Why do I need to lay low?"Victor hesitated before answering. "The Hale Family has put out a bounty on your head, Xavier. One million dollars, dead or alive. Every low-level mafia character is going to be out to kill you and claim the bounty."Xavier couldn't believe it. "That's ridiculous," he said, laughing. "The Hale Family wouldn't do that."Victor's voice was firm. "I'm telling you, Xavier, it's true. I've

Rise Of The Mafia Lord Chapter 64. Training and Bounty
Xavier and Maximus stood facing each other in a big, open field. The sun was shining down on them."Today, we're going to practice fighting with our hands," Maximus said with a smile. "You're getting better, but you still have a lot to learn.""I'm ready," Xavier said, his eyes locked on Maximus. "Let's do this."Maximus chuckled. "Okay, but first, let's start with the basics. Stand with your feet apart and your knees slightly bent. This will help you balance and move quickly."Xavier nodded and took a deep breath. He stood with his feet apart and his knees slightly bent, feeling balanced and ready to move."Good," Maximus said, nodding his head. "Now, let's practice moving around each other. I want you to use different techniques to avoid my attacks and strike back at me."Xavier nodded and took off in a slow circle around Maximus. He practiced different footwork patterns, using his quick reflexes to avoid Maximus's slow, sweeping attacks. As they trained, Maximus gave Xavier advice

Maximus's eyes lit up with excitement. "Ah, the Hale Manor. I've heard so much about it. It's going to be a pleasure to watch you take them down, Xavier."Xavier's gaze turned cold, his mind focused on the task ahead. "Let's get this over with. I have a score to settle."As they approached the Hale Manor, Xavier could feel the weight of his past bearing down on him. He had been born into this family, but they had never accepted him. They had treated him like dirt, like he was nothing. But now, Xavier was back, and he was not alone. He had Maximus by his side, and together, they were unstoppable. The gates of the Hale Manor swung open, and Xavier's eyes locked onto the mansion. It was just as he remembered it - grand, opulent, and cold."Shall we?" Maximus asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.Xavier nodded, his jaw clenched. "Let's do this."As they stepped into the mansion, Xavier was met with the familiar sight of his family's portraits hanging on the walls. He felt a surge of an

Rise Of The Mafia Lord Chapter 62. Thank Heavens
I stood at the entrance of the dark tower with anger and hatred burning in my eyes. I just found out that my mate has been faithful to me all these while and she was even the one who helped me escape the subatomic world, but those witches tried to fill my head with lies and fabricated photos, not to mention the torture I went through in their hands. And I will make them suffer a hundredth fold.“How do you wish to play this Maximus?” the demon wolf asked. I clutched the handle of my sword so tight my knuckles were white.“Slow, painful, near death and then an undesirable death.” I said grinning from ear to ear. If someone was there to capture my expression at that moment, I'm sure the person will shudder from fear as I knew I looked like the smiling devil.“Let's go harvest their fears, anger and lives.” the demon wolf said.I dashed into the lobby and was met with the whizzing sound of lightening.“Did you think we won't notice your disappearance?” a girl in plain white came out from

Rise Of The Mafia Lord Chapter 61. Captured
I slowly opened my eyes, only to be consumed by darkness. The blackness was suffocating, making it impossible to see beyond my own nose.I tried to stand, but my body refused to cooperate, anchored to a mysterious chair.Panic threatened to overwhelm me, but I forced myself to calm down. I attempted to meditate, seeking a connection with the demon wolf within. Silence greeted me.A melodic voice pierced the darkness, its sweetness laced with venom. "Don't bother striving for what's beyond your grasp."I gritted my teeth, fighting to maintain composure. "Who's there? Show yourself!"The voice chuckled, a manic edge creeping in. "The legendary Roman Prince, Maximus Aurelius, bringer of death, now reduced to a helpless captive."Her laughter sent shivers down my spine. I struggled to recall how I ended up here, how I lost consciousness, and who this mysterious woman was."You've discovered you can't reach the demon wolf within," she said, her amusement evident.A spark of realization ign

Rise Of The Mafia Lord Chapter 60. Illusion
As I approached the tower, my expectations shattered. Instead of a dark, foreboding Rapunzel-esque spire, a sleek glass skyscraper pierced the sky. I snorted. "Evil tower, indeed."The locals must have never seen a skyscraper before, I thought, or they've been trapped in their quaint town for too long. They sure reminded me of the locals in Rome. What would Commodus when he sees the modern Rome now? He was just immature to kill his father for the throne. Too bad he didn't get to enjoy his time as King. With a flourish, I unsheathed my swords and stepped into the building. The lobby's eerie silence enveloped me. Empty halls stretched out, devoid of life.I strode to the elevator, pressed the top-floor button, and waited. Minutes ticked by, yet the elevator didn't budge. Confusion gnawed at me.Just then, a familiar voice whispered in my ear. "I smell magic here, Maximus."I turned to face the demon wolf, surprised. "You're still here? I thought you'd wandered off."The wolf's gaze lock
