Chapter 9

Arthur returned with the pill he had just prepared.

As he entered the room, a pungent odor filled the air, causing those present to wrinkle their noses in discomfort.

"What the hell is that?" Mr Lee frowned upon seeing Arthur and yelled, "Take that thing out of here."

"Grandfather!" Nicole was surprised at her grandfather reaction towards Arthur, "What's that Arthur? It stinks so much!"

" It's the pill for Mr Lee, it will cure him." Arthur walked closer.

The closer it got, it made the stench even worse.

Arthur was confident in the healing properties of this traditional pill made from local herbs.

Doctor Chan, who had been overseeing Mr. Lee's condition, raised an incredulous eyebrow. He had heard of alternative treatments, but this was unlike anything he had encountered before.

"Are you seriously suggesting that this... thing," he gestured towards the odorous pill, "can cure a man in Mr. Lee's condition?"

"I believe it can, Doctor. Traditional medicine often holds great wisdom. I've prepared this pill using local herbs known for their healing properties. It might not be conventional, but it's worth a try."

Nicole, desperate to save her grandfather, stepped forward. Her voice trembled as she said, "Please, Doctor Chan, we don't have any other options. If there's even a slight chance this can help my grandfather, we must take it."

Doctor Chan sighed, clearly unconvinced, but the urgency of the situation left him with little choice. "Very well, let's give it a shot," he reluctantly agreed.

"I won't take such pill. It will make my organs stink"

" That's not true grandfather, you gave to take this."

Seeing that Mr Lee was unable to try his pill, one part of Arthur's heart gradually died away and the expectations that shouldn't have existed was sucked out too, leaving nothing but cold emptiness.

Doctor Chan wasn't exactly okay with the drugs, but there was no other option, he turns to Mr Lee and said, "You have to try it, the young man has put a great effort in making the pill, and it's herbs, what harm can it do?"

On hearing this, Mr Lee decides to give it a try.

With great care, Arthur administered the pill to Mr. Lee, who swallowed it with some difficulty, grimacing at the taste and smell.

Time seemed to stretch on endlessly until, unexpectedly, a subtle change came over Mr. Lee. His breathing became less labored, and his complexion shifted from pale to a healthier hue.

Doctor Chan observed in amazement as Mr. Lee's vital signs stabilized. The skepticism that had once clouded his face gave way to astonishment. "It... it seems his condition is improving," he muttered, unable to hide his surprise.

Emily's eyes welled up with tears of relief as she clutched her grandfather's hand. "It's working," she whispered, overwhelmed with gratitude.

Arthur stood back, his heart filled with of pride and relief.

Doctor Chan, noticing Mr. Lee's inquisitive gaze, spoke up. "Mr. Lee, now that your condition has stabilized, it's a good time to proceed with the red blood transfusion. It will help in completing your healing process."

Mr. Lee continued to stare at Arthur, his piercing gaze unwavering. Then, in a voice tinged with both wonder and curiosity, he asked, "Who are you?"

Arthur hesitated for a moment, contemplating how to respond. He couldn't reveal his true identity as the "son of the dragon." Instead, he replied with a warm smile, "I'm just someone who wanted to help."

Mr. Lee's eyes narrowed slightly, there was a bit of doubt that clouded his mind as he stared at Arthur.

For some reason, he suspects that Arthur might be hiding something. How else could he explain someone that studied Cyber security having such great medical skills.

However, he didn't press further at that moment. Instead, he extended a weak but grateful hand toward Arthur. "Thank you, Arthur, for what you've done."

Mr. Lee cleared his throat and began, "Arthur, you've not only saved my life, but you've also given me a chance to see my Nicole until she is married."

Arthur smiled as he listened to Mr Lee.

Mr. Lee smiled warmly, "You gave me a second chance. I want to do something for you in return."

Arthur was taken aback by this unexpected offer.

"Please, consider this a token of my appreciation." He reached for a small, ornate box on the bedside table and opened it, revealing a set of keys. "This is the deed to a villa I own, not far from here. It's a peaceful place, and I want you to have it. Consider it a gift from the bottom of my heart."

Arthur froze for a moment then he said, "Mr. Lee, I can't accept such a valuable gift. I only did what I thought was right."

Mr. Lee's expression remained resolute. "Arthur, you must accept this as a symbol of my gratitude."
