Chapter 37

"By the way, what was the magic you had used?" Olivia asked him curiously as she remembered that fact.

"I'd rather not talk about it when there are so many people here." Lucas said to her in a hushed tone as he looked at her.

"Ah right, that." Olivia said as she nodded in understanding.

She knew that despite his status many of the nobles might covet his power and not to mention the fact that if that information went to some unsavory hands then it might be problematic for one Lucas Larsen, something which the kingdom doesn't need to have.

Even if others have seen his magic work, they don't know the principles in which the magic works, and that makes him a wildcard of sorts.

Which also makes him dangerous in the eyes of their enemies and she is sure that he would be at the top priority for them. Considering his strength they would be wary of him the most which can be used to their advantage.

'Okay, I need to stop thinking about strategy for a moment and just enjoy the party.' Olivia thought to herself as she focused back on him.

"What are your plans after this?" Olivia asked him as she drank her drink.

"Well, I am going to keep on training and learning new techniques. Help my dad with the clan and all. Also about my marriage, it is time for me to get married and considering what I have done in the war I think I will be asked a lot for marriage." Lucas said with a shrug as he looked at the crowd.

Olivia drank her drink silently as she heard him as her eyes narrowed a bit as she realised that he was telling the truth about it. As a member of nobility he is going to be married to another girl from a noble family as per the customs and the both of them are at the age for marriage as well.

Honestly, she never had the taste for marriage, seeing it as too restrictive for her as it might just make more problems for her in the long run. But as the princess and the member of the royal family, she has a duty and responsibility to make sure that their family line continues into the future.

'Wait a minute.' Olivia thought to herself as she got an idea.

She looked at Lucas who was watching his parents talking to each other and occasionally with each other, though she also saw him have an irritated look on his face and...

'Is it just me or is his right eye twitching?' Olivia thought to herself as she looked at him.

Seeing that she wasn't hallucinating she looked at the direction he is looking and found that he is looking at his parents, who seem to be flirting with each other while they are talking.

'Yeah, that can make anyone embarrassed.' Olivia thought to herself as she understood his plight.

But then the large doors opened again as the people inside looked towards it as the King and Queen walked out of the door together as they looked at the nobles with their usual confident looks on their faces.

They searched the crowd and managed to find their daughter standing alongside Lucas and they seemed to be together without anyone else beside them. That caught their attention but they had a crowd to address so they looked at the nobles in front of them.

"Welcome to this celebration that we have decided to host in light of our recent victory against our enemy. We have managed to show them the might of our nation and I'm sure that other nations will also think twice before trying to attack our nation." Arvid said as he addressed the nobles.

He also glanced at Lucas for a split second before looking back at the crowd so apart from Olivia and Lucas, who were closer to the royals and were looking at them saw his movements.

But they didn't say anything and kept quiet as they watched the king give a short speech about how they had managed to defeat and repel the enemies and how proud he is for the strength of his army and he also gave praise to the nobles who had participated in the war.

'Yeah, well only a few actually fought with most of them being outside of the area of combat.' Lucas thought to himself as he watched the king.

He doesn't have anything against the king, but the concept of honour is a huge part of their religion and warrior culture and it was drilled into his mind by his father and mentor that fighting without any kind of honour is disgraceful for any self-respecting warrior.

Of course, he doesn't mind espionage and attacks from the shadows, but he also hates cowards who willingly run away from things. He also has respect for those who are willing to die for their ideals.

Sure, many in the modern world would say that dying for their ideals isn't worth it, but he doesn't care about that. In the end, they aren't Gods or anything, they are humans and they will die one way or another. So if they are going to die, if they at least die by fighting for their beliefs instead of running away like a coward, well, that is a great thing in his book.

'Man, that is a long ass speech. I pity anyone who becomes the next king in the future.' Lucas thought to himself as he shook his head, feeling sorry for the next one to be the king of the nation as he gulped down his drink.

He then waited until the entire speech was finished as he nodded as the nobles all raised their glasses or applauded the king for his speech and their victory.

"Now enjoy this grand feast to your hearts content!" Arvid shouted as he raised a glass of wine.

All the other nobles made noise of agreement before they started to talk with each other again. Though a good few went to talk to the king and queen as they walked down the platform as the two watched them.

"I think you should be with them your highness." Lucas said to her as he watched the king and queen.

"I suppose. Let us talk when we get the chance." Olivia said to him with a smile.

"As you command." Lucas said to her with a small smile and a nod.

Olivia gave him a smile and a nod before she walked away from him as he watched her leave. He was captivated by her beauty as she walked away from him as he watched her.

He then shook his head a bit and chuckled to himself as he looked at the princess of his nation and then went to the tables to get something to eat.

'Careful there Lucas, don't want to become the very same person you were pitying.' Lucas thought to himself with a smile on his face as he watched the princess.
